Villa Glysteri

Villa Glysteri was a perfect little hideaway in Skopelos. We loved being so close to Glysteri Beach, and the pool, garden, and BBQ area made it easy to relax all day.

Was so excited to stay at Villa Glysteri but sadly didn’t live up to expectations. The outside grounds were tired and needed sorting, the pool had not been cleaned for a while. There were no cushions on rickety chairs (some broken) so we purchased some. The sofas inside were incredibly uncomfy and springs were poking up. The bed mattresses were not much better. The local beach taverna was super but sadly closed early for the season due to strengthening winds, so no facilities within walking distance. The message about leaving food out on the kitchen was accurate, the bread bin was a haven for mites and ants. Note : there is no provisions at the house at all, so everything except toilet paper is required.The house is just tired and i expect is much nicer at the beginning of the season.September, not so. We stayed in 2 other properties (similar ) whilst moving around island and they were amazing. So sadly really cannot recommend Villa Glysteri for a mid/late September stay. That said, the outside area is beautifully private and the covered bbq area is great until NE winds blows. With some tlc and refurb it would be amazing x

The villa was charming in many ways, it was very clean, the pool was in good condition, and Glisteri beach was very nice. We were not told that the water was not drinkable and no bottled water was provided to get us “started” until we could purchase some. Likewise, there were no basic supplies in the kitchen such as coffee or filters, or trash can liners. The distance to town and grocery stores isn’t that far, but if you’re not used to driving on narrow mountain roads that have hairpin turns and that are quite steep in some areas it can be quite harrowing when another vehicle comes around the bend at high speed. Count on 20 minute drive the 1st time. Though the owner recommended stopping for “supplies” before they proceeding to the villa, we had no room in the rental car for anything besides the four of us and our suitcases (I wouldn’t recommend anything larger than a compact auto because the roads are so narrow). Having rented several properties in Europe, I was surprised at the lack of basics provided. We respected the owner’s request not to remove towels from the house so we purchased beach towels in town. A house with a pool and a nearby beach (about 1/2 km away) should provide beach towels because they take up lots of space in luggage. There are no instructions on how to operate the washing machine (it is labeled in German) so we used google translate, but it didn’t spin properly and we had to wring out clothes before hanging to dry. Take your sense of humor!

We loved our stay in this amazing location. Only a 5 min walk to Glysteri Beach- one of the best on the island. We loved that we had the valley to ourselves at night as this is the only accommodation but you definitely need a car and there are no restaurants in walking distance apart from the beach club which is only open in the day. The pool was a massive hit and the outdoor space is gorgeous. The house itself is comfortable but due to it all being wood inside it is noisy and there's not much privacy between the rooms. Didn't bother us at all, but useful to know. We had a wonderful week and would recommend.

Excellent place for peaceful yet in many ways stimulating holidays. Splendid position. The owners and their daughters are as kind as one can be, the lady from the Skopelos agency incredibly gentle, patient and efficient.
