Terrible customer service. My in-laws’ toilet didn’t work for the entire night. Maintenance was contacted, but it was never actually fixed. They had to use our bathroom and the public restroom. When my father-in-law reported it the next morning, the front desk told him there were public bathrooms downstairs and that he “wasn’t getting a free room.” He never asked for a free room. He simply wanted the problem fixed before the room was rented to another guest. Things break. The problem is how you handle them. This was dismissive, unprofessional, and unacceptable.

Good place to stay, better in warm, dry weather. Seemed more like a multi story motel with only outside entrance to the room. First, the staff were amazing. Helpful, kind, efficient, typical of a higher costing hotel. The view was great and local amenities were a short walk. BTW, no free fudge tastes anymore, thankfully. The room was clean and well stocked. We missed breakfast the first day because it was too difficult to reach the breakfast room. There is an elevator located in another part of the hotel that is quite a walk outside or one and a half flight of stairs. Either way means walking outside, mostly covered, from your room. The breakfast room was well stocked, better than advertised. They served scrambled eggs that were not listed online plus many more selections than most "breakfast included" stays. The pool appeared to be nice but again, it required a walk from the far side of the property in the cold both ways. We would have liked to use the pool and hot tub and would have if it were warm outside or accessible from inside. Probably no issue in the summer months. All trips outside your room require walking outside, no inside hallways except in the lobby as far as we could find. The hotel is showing its age, Damaged ceiling in our room, likely do to a poor repair. Most upkeep was well done, some was missed for some time. The walk to the beach was on a very nice walkway that had risky holes that need to be avoided.

The location was perfect for walking to the ferry and downtown Mackinaw City. The room was comfortable but lacked many of the modern amenities other hotels typically have like charging ports for phones and other devices. It was decorated like you were staying in your grandma's house but also had the amenities that were dated. The staff was great!
