Karnes City Lodge

What guests think

At Karnes City Lodge, guests frequently highlight quiet stays, friendly staff, and generally good value, while feedback also points to inconsistent cleanliness and mixed experiences with the breakfast offering across recent reviews.

Rooms are often spacious, but several reviews cite uncomfortable mattresses (notably in room 104), aging pillows, and occasional issues like dead outlets or a noisy, musty air conditioner. Facilities draw mixed notes: a nice pool with early closing, a gym needing attention, truck parking available, and some upkeep concerns such as overgrown grounds or a smelly guest laundry. A few guests reported slow or problematic check-in and front-desk availability. Overall, it works for short, no-frills stays if you can accept inconsistencies.

Don’t be fooled by not having a big name on the hotel. This place is a gem Nice rooms, clean , friendly staff , beds comfortable. I was impressed to say the least. Can’t beat it for the price. Nice pool although we didn’t use. There one night but no hesitation to return if I’m out that way

I stayed Friday- Saturday. The grass was overgrown. It was cut Sunday morning as we were leaving. There was a dead tarantula left on the picnic table. The pool closed early. The room was dirty. The linens and towels were dirty. I know it’s a cheap hotel. But I’ve stayed here many times, and this was by far the worst. I visit my fam here. I’ll be changing my location moving forward.

The bed had a urine stain about 2 feet in diameter that was visible through the bed sheet. In the bathroom there was mucous on the walls. I have stayed there before with no issues but I was a little disappointed on this trip. I will stay elsewhere on my next trip.

Property itself along with management was great. However, I was in room 104 and that bed was beyond painful and uncomfortable. I am not the only person who has left a review about that bed. I viewed the reviews too late. Staff, please replace that mattress.. I would stay again but next time I need to see if the bed is good before booking.

The person at checking said there were no reservations. I pushed so he called the owner who told him I had a reservation as he had already been told. Then he made a photocopy of my Drivers License and credit card, said it was a bad copy and wadded it up and threw it on the ground next to a trash can. While he made another copy I retrieved it so no one else could have access to my information. They gave us a handicapped no smoking room that had a bit of the stale cigarette smell in it. The room was clean, but the toilet was not securely fastened to the ground so it rocked when you sat on it. The bed was comfortable, but the A/C is very noisy and musty smelling. The breakfast was; make your own waffles, coffee (no tea or decaf) scrambled eggs that were barely warm, small apples, greenish yellow bananas, toast, cereal dispensers, milk and Sunny Delight. A lot of things you usually see in typical motel breakfasts were missing.

This hotel was nice, they let us check in an hour early. The staff was very nice and courteous, especially the man who worked nice. Breakfast was ok, wish the hot food choices were more vast with a mixture of hash browns, eggs and sausage thrown together with waffles was ok would have liked them separate for choices. The beds were comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Will definitely stay there again on our next trip!’
