Red Roof Inn Hershey draws budget travelers with pet-friendly policies and a convenient location near Hershey attractions, but reviews highlight uneven experiences ranging from basic rooms and aging fixtures to inconsistent cleanliness and a simple check-in handled next door.
The location is frequently praised for being close to Hersheypark and local venues. Many guests found staff kind and helpful, though some encountered rudeness or check-in delays at the neighboring desk. Expect a no-frills stay where price and proximity matter more than amenities and finish.

Nice average facility. For the price a night they need to include a breakfast ticket or you might as well book best western. Check in process is a lil inconvenience because it’s not on site. People upstairs noisy in the morning.

Stayed here for one night in order to go to Hershey Park. Down the road from the park. Decent place; beds were a little uncomfortable. They share a parking lot with the best western and you have to check in with them.

I was stuck in the area due to my vehicle breaking down and needing a major repair. The hotel was nice. It was very simple but it had all the amenities needed for us to be comfortable during our stay. Katelyn at the front desk was super nice and very helpful. She also understood that traveling with children can be absolute hell at times and was more than wiling to give us some extra time at check-out. The lady that does housekeeping was also very sweet and made sure to stop by everyday and see if there was anything we needed. With having 4 people in one room we always needed more towels. It was nice to have her check in on us instead of walking to the desk to ask for what we needed. Most hotels dont check in on their guests that are staying more than 1 night. We did have to check in at Best Western across the parking lot but its not a far walk at all so that wasnt a bother at all. Over-all, the price was right and our stay there was nice. We will definitely be returning in the future, hopefully for fun and not because my vehicle broke down. Thank you for having us!!

I sent an email to corporate explaining in lengthy detail of the quality of the room. I also sent the pictures of when we first walked into the room the only thing that wasnr included was that the ice machine wasnt functional during our stay and we had to walk across the parking lot to the second floor of the Best Western to retrieve ice.

The floors didnt look filthy until i sat my 10 month old down to crawl around when i picked her up a couple minutes later her knees and tops of her feet were BLACK. SO we gave her a bath then let her crawl around again and picked her up it was 10x worse so then we hand mopped the floors with there towels and the towels were black when we were done. Wont be staying with them ever again.

Everything was dirty - there was something orange stained on the pillowcase, all the walls were dirty, front door was dirty and needs replacing. Jessica (?) the night desk person at Best Western was checking in for both properties and was very busy. She was so polite and sweet!! We got in late and were leaving early, otherwise we would've left and found another hotel

Red Roof didn’t have its own office, had to check in at Best Western across parking lot. Not a big deal just went through a little confusion initially when pulling up. Place was quiet, got good sleep but next day realized Housekeeping wasn’t the greatest. Didn’t appreciate what my blankets looked like, Both beds, really just seemed like they hadn’t been washed in a while or just way to many stains for my liking. Which explains rating

Red roof inn was disgusting. Blood in the Sheets. Dirty walls. The hair dryer was all cracked. Room smelled so bad. But this location is ran by the management of the new best western across the parking lot. The staff their is amazing. I recommend if you have the extra money just stay in the new best western and only stay in the red roof inn if you can’t afford the other.

Woman and front desk was very friendly and helpful. Got in around 10pm and the AC in our room wasn’t cooling. 77 in the room and going up! Went and talked to front desk and she was so helpful! Moved us to another room but came up herself and checked that it was working first. Allowed me to check it too. Basic hotel but comfortable beds.

Probably wouldn’t stay here again. The faucet was disconnected from sink and there were questionable holes in the bathroom walls which made us uncomfortable. We could hear every bit of noise coming from the hallway. A/C would turn off and not turn back on until it was hot in the room again. I will say, the bed was comfortable but that was about it for the positives. Definitely don’t feel it warranted $200 per night.

Was suitable for a quick overnight stay form somewhere to crash and sleep. Door handle was installed upside down, meaning you had to pull up to open as opposed to pulling down, this caused some initial issues trying to Access the room. The staff was good about waking right over to the room to help us gain access. TV had no service, and the remote didn’t work, not that big of deal since we got in late and had to get up early. Toilet didn’t flush well which was biggest concern, tank would fill and swirl but wouldn’t discard waste. The toilet has mineral build up that needs to be addressed in order to fix. Otherwise, place was decent in terms of cleanliness and amenities. For a quick stay, decent.

The associate who helped at the front desk was very friendly. Our first room smelled of cigarette smoke and we were able to get another room. Our second room had a faulty air system, it was either extremely cold or hot, we had to turn it off which made the room very stuffy and uncomfortable when sleeping. The refrigerator didn’t work, which we didn’t realize until the morning when the food and drinks we put in there was not cold. The room was clean and the staff was friendly, but overall was not a very good experience.

Unfortunately, we had to leave shortly after arriving at this hotel. Upon entering our room, the hot water took an extremely long time to get even barely warm, the toilet rocked badly, and there was an exposed AC outlet that is a fire hazard. The room also had a strong sewage odor, which was noticeable in the parking lot and stairwell as well. The staff member who checked us in earlier in the evening was very kind and welcoming, but my experience with the night employee was disappointing. He was condescending and even told me to be quiet while I was trying to explain the situation. During that time, other guests were also complaining about children running back and forth above the lobby, which he claimed to address, but the noise continued. When I asked if there were any alternate rooms available, I was told no. I explained that I would then need to book another hotel. Only after that did he suddenly say he could move us to another room. By that point, it was nearly midnight, and I declined and requested a refund instead. He continued to argue that a room was now available, but I stood firm on wanting a refund. I am still waiting on that refund as of now. The poor condition of the room and the dismissive customer service made this an unfortunate experience, despite the friendly check-in staff earlier in the evening. I wanted to give Red Roof Inn another chance, but ongoing maintenance and cleanliness issues seem to be a pattern across the US.

Clean, quiet, really close to Hershey Park. Option to buy breakfast at the Best Western that shares a parking lot for a quick meal before you head out.

I was looking for a decent cheap hotel for a couple nights for a hockey tournament. The value was incredible as the room was updated and clean, breakfast was good, they are dog friendly and it was very inexpensive. The location is good and overall I am very pleased with the overall experience and will consider them for the next tournament as well.

Dining
There is no free breakfast on-site; guests can purchase breakfast at the Best Western next door, and some found it good. Coffee availability was inconsistent, and on-site dining options are otherwise limited.

Nice average facility. For the price a night they need to include a breakfast ticket or you might as well book best western. Check in process is a lil inconvenience because it’s not on site. People upstairs noisy in the morning.

We always chose Red Roof Inn for our vacations and this was by far the worst one we have stayed at. The room was disgusting, the toilet was extremely dirty, there was a Ike of hair on the bed and blood stains on the pillow case. We had the do not disturb sign on and the housekeeping still came in but did not clean just put a new soap and shampoo in the bathroom. There was no one in the office as you had to walk across to the best western for service and we were never told there was complimentary breakfast at the best western for the red roof inn until check out.

Check your towels when you check in the rooms I had two dirty towels. Also it's no free breakfast you have to pay for breakfast with the hotel across the parking lot. Also if you order Uber eats at night you might be waiting a hour or longer for you food.
