Common downsides include some rooms without exterior windows, patchy in-room Wi-Fi, and occasional issues with heating, phones, or other amenities. Feedback on the on-site breakfast and restaurant is mixed—several guests enjoyed tasty meals, while others reported slow service or limited opening. Overall, expect a charming boutique stay with standout hospitality and a few room and dining caveats.

For my wife and I, this Hotel is a great discovery in San Cristobal de las Casas. It is a house that was transformed into a Hotel only in 2019 and then had to close due to the pandemic. . . It is a magnificent European-style house with only 11 rooms. It could very well be classified as a Boutique Hotel. The location is very close to the main square and its surroundings (La Merced neighborhood). When we return to Chiapas, to San Cristobal this will be our first option because it is a place that invites you not to leave it, or to always return.

This property was comfortable and the staff are SO friendly and helpful. I felt safe and relaxed while there. The downsides: the room I was in got basically zero wifi, and effectively had no windows (a clerestory up top let in a little light but no air), which I find to be a bummer. The upsides: I got incredibly ill while I was staying here (NOT related to the hotel) and I was so well cared for and looked after by everyone, especially the young man who staff s the front desk overnight. I *wish* I had been well enough to take advantage of all the help this team was willing to provide in terms of finding things to do and getting out of town to see the sights. Next time!

Overall, as a solo female traveler, I enjoyed my stay. Pros: cozy, beautiful, quiet, clean, and safe hotel (front door is always locked so you ring a bell and receptionist gets you in), and decent location (2-3 blocks away from the main pedestrian streets). Cons: hotel’s restaurant was supposed to be open only for breakfast, but most days was not open at all; walls in the rooms upstairs are thin so you can hear neighbors talking, showering, drying hair; there was no air conditioning in my room and while I didn’t really need (wasn’t too hot), I thought it’d be something good to have; wifi in the room was so slow to the point where it basically didn’t work and I used my data

The hotel had such a wonderful Spanish colonial feel including even the furniture, atmosphere, and architecture…. The staff were very friendly and helpful…. I scheduled several tours and rides from the front desk…. They primarily spoke Spanish, but when I showed them the Google translate app, they immediately downloaded it, and were always ready to converse with me when I had a question….Very close to the center if that’s where you want to be…..

Overall the service was very good, but the towels, bath mats, and pillowcases were very worn, and when I was drying my back, a towel in poor condition tore and I had to pay $250 pesos for it. I immediately informed them about the towel, and when I checked out, they detained me for approximately 20 minutes while the manager told them whether or not to charge me.
