2500 Penn, a Placemakr Experience

Nice neighborhood with Trader Joe’s across street, a few minutes walk from Georgetown. Very quiet in the rooms even though we were on the main road. Major complaints- place was not that clean especially the kitchen. Beds were meh. Overall it was fine. Bonus was that parking is indoors with free Tesla charging.

Pros: The staff was amazing and very friendly!! They were always more than happy to help and said hello and welcome back everytime we walked in or left. They had laundry we could use with free detergent and free dryer sheets. They held our luggage after checkout while we toured the city some more. Plus I like that there was no daily housemaid service as I prefer no one come in my room. If you needed towels or anything they were more than happy to get you whatever you needed.

Liked the one bedroom option for 6 people. Pull out couch was uncomfortable and the heat was on in the building which made our room warm so we slept with the windows open and work up chilly. But old building problems. Having a kitchen was nice, a few more dishes and pans would be nice but it worked and saved us money on eating out. It was clean and queen beds comfy. Check in was easy. We used spot hero to find parking nearby because lot was full.

Great stay, perfect location in between the Mall and Georgetown. I'd recommend springing extra for the onsite parking.

Some places have a business strategy that the profit from overbooking the place is higher than the cost of poor reviews when travelers are rejected due to overbooking. To fulfill my purpose in this strategy, I hereby contribute my poor report as I was moved from my booked location (near my meeting commitments) to another location on the other side of town. It was 2 in the morning when I arrived and was informed, and I would spend $100s on taxis extra due to this “we have oversold” strategy. Why not 1 star? Staff was very civil, and the gym was really good. Maybe 1.5 as then apartment decor matched the stylishness of the Chernobyl TV series, in terms of designer affection and engagement. This is my first irate review ever, but as mentioned, that is likely a consideration by the company running the venues.

Great location! Some confusion on checking in as no one at the front desk and no text message as with other Placemakr sights. Parking also not clear until we asked the front desk assistant

The stay was great with an outstanding off-season price for a family of 5. The coffemaker and dishwasher could use repair, but it was nice to have a full kitchen for a week's hotel stay. The garage parking is nice, but need to be careful and have patience parking because the space is cramped.

The hotel was in an excellent location on the edge of Georgetown. We walked to dinner nightly and to the Foggy Bottom metro station to get to all the attractions. Georgetown shopping was just over the bridge and easily walkable. The expedia app says that parking is avaliable on site, which is correct, but it is EXTREMELY limited and costs $42 a day. Someone at the desk suggested that I use the Spothero app to reserve a parking spot close to the hotel and I was able to reserve a spot close by for cheaper than the hotel was charging. I felt more confident driving into town knowing that I had a reserved parking spot and wouldn't have to drive around and park on the street.

The property was nice and felt safe. Staff was friendly. We didn’t like that only the heat could be on, but we were able to open windows as we were on a higher floor. Then I got too cold. So that was back and forth. Parking is tight. Luckily we had a small rental car.

The Place Is in good condition, comfortable, very clean. Some things are a bit aging, but in general very good. The staff very helpful. The parking availability is very limited, but there is free parking in the street near by.

The rooms were filthy- stains everywhere and on everything. I had to wash all kitchenware before use because it was so dirty. I was going to run a load of dishes before I checked out, but the dishwasher was full of stank, stale water. There were stains on everything in this room. Additionally, I went down to the front desk to ask to extend my checkout from 11 am until 1pm for late check out. She told me they wouldn’t be able to do that, and that they could only extend it for “an hour.” I was happy with that, and expected to pay the $50 late fee. I was then met at my room by two different people 15 minutes apart. The woman who I spoke to at the front desk told me she said “11:30,” which is simply not true. She said “an hour.” So they basically kicked me out of the room after promising it to me for an extra hour. On the plus side, they didn’t charge me their egregious rate of $50/hour (that I know of yet), and the location is great. Located right near metro stations, cafes, food, dupont circle, and georgetown. Definitely a great area to stay in, but not a great hotel.

Looked pretty on ground floor. Hotel clerk that checked us in was nice. Manager and rest of staff rude. Got to our room which was newer and looked nice but the beds were unmade and sheets everywhere. They changed our room to an older more run down room. Kitchen dirty and bathroom dirty. People in our family did not want to take showers because of how room looked. TV did not work and they claimed it was because of a storm - yet the internet worked. Other people had issues and they were afraid to say something because of how we were treated (they witnessed one of the interactions regarding the room). They comped parking but should have comped everything. We were afraid to walk around room without shoes on. had lots of bed bug bites as well. Will share photos with expedia directly.

The suite was comfortable, clean, and priced right. There weren’t enough towels for the number of guests but the front desk staff were helpful in providing more on request. The location is fantastic, right next to Georgetown. Great neighborhood and plenty to do. The room had a strong smell of mildew, outdated stove/ oven, rusted drains in the bathroom, and an occasional sewage type smell that we think came from the drains. These things could’ve been specific to our suite and wouldn’t deter me from booking again.

The hotel is old and very dirty. The bathroom had cracked tiled and the room smelled musky. We were book for 6 people and literally were handed extra sheets when we checked in. The kitchen was unusable because it was overall dirty with grime. We were told right off the bat that housekeeping was not available only by request and charge.

Convenient location but the room was dated and there was mold in the shower. Kitchen was good to have.

Staff was super friendly. But room was not super clean and bathroom had mold. The AC unit was super loud.

We did not arrive to a clean, modern, boutique hotel as indicated on the photos. The room was rundown and in need of renovations. There was a musty smell and the furniture was old and dilapidated.

Terrible experience. Only went with this hotel because I needed a fridge and stove for my autistic son’s needs. The entire place is run down, dirty, full of stains. The appliances are also dirty and old. Our walls and carpet were dirty and there were different areas of the room that were broken. I reported all of this and nothing was done. Additionally, I was bitten all over my legs overnight and when I reported it, the man at the front desk’s response was “the mosquitos in DC are vicious”. I showed the bites to my friend who is an exterminator and he said they were definitely bedbug bites.

The staff here are extremely nice and helpful! I can't say enough good things about them. The location is perfect-- easy access to both Georgetown and the metro. The rooms do seem like they could use some TLC. Surfaces and towels weren't clean, and the bathroom fan didn't work. No hair dryer, but luckily I had one from staying in a hostel previously. I love that they don't service the rooms every day-- I prefer that! I would stay again!

This was my 2nd stay. This time my room was very worn. Crumbs on the couch, tub/shower in bad condition. Beware the HVAC in the rooms can not be changed only on or off. Kitchen is my room was rough. Front desk help and location are the HIT for this choice. Sorry to see rooms so worn during this stay.

Building and location were great. Within a few minutes we could walk to Georgetown and to the metro station at foggy bottom. Apartment in itself was roomy for our family of 5. The cons to our stay were: sofa bed was terible to sleep in, the two queen beds in the bedroom had spring mattresses that were not comfortable either. Kitchen looked great in pics but it in reality it was pretty old and outdated. It was stocked with basic kitchen items to prepare breakfast not much more than that.

Unable to control temp in room ,too hot for sleeping. Furniture dated and dingy. Pull out couch frame bent extra uncomfortable for sleeping TV old can not use streaming services. Excellent stay! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will recommend to others who are looking for an apartment style apartment. The only complaint was the heating and cooling couldn't be adjusted from our room...but for the most part, it was a comfortable temperature.

The room was clean, more than spacious enough for me and my 3 friends, and we were able to find parking directly in the side of the hotel enabling us to see our car from our window. Not to mention the view was nice as well. The only downfall to me was that the ice and vending machine were in the basement.

The hotel is very nice. Location is excellent. 15-20 min walk to the national mall. Supermarket and a few stores, restaurant and pubs across the street. Short walk to George town which is very fun area. We were there on a weekend so we easily parked on the street. The rooms are big, clean and conferrable. Kitchen is a bit outdated but very well equipped. 24 hours front desk. Overall, we had an excellent stay and this is a very good hotel. The only problem was that we had bed luck with VERT loud neighbors. A group of about 10 young people who came to party. First night, they got back to the room around midnight and were up and loud till 5am!! However, on the second night we asked the (very nice) guy at the front desk and he went up and talked to them. He was amazing and he had to go up twice but eventfully (around 1am) they were quieter. So, I think putting families next door to such a group was not good idea BUT the front desk person was amazing trying to solve it.

Y'all need new couch beds, STAT. I wouldn't let my dog sleep on those mattresses they have.

The hotel canceled my room less than two hours before check in. Due to an event in town there were no comparable rooms available for less than double the price. Won't be booking here again.

I have seen this before in other reviews, but the shower gel in their dispenser was completely empty. It took our last day of staying there for housekeeping to do something about it. In addition to this, the batteries in the remote control for the TV were running out of juice, so that we had to space out the use of the remote control so that it was still functional. When the "engineering department" came in on CHECK OUT day, he said it was fine and didn't change it. I didn't care at that point. What severely disappointed me in this stay was that one girl in particular was working the front desk was very rude. I don't know what is the point of pre-registering and giving us the option to tell you if you are coming in for an early check-in if your front desk receptionist is gong to turn you away. When we inquired after parking, she just said "Street parking" which was contradicting information already known from this site. Did not bother elaborating on details for us. When we asked to store our luggage, she made us store it ourselves. That means every other stranger was allowed to go in what is supposed to be a secure space and can potentially mess with my belongings. I don't know any other hotel that allows guests to do this. When my family and I were in the storage area, someone who might be a manager, profusely apologized saying "WE'RE supposed to do this, not you. I'm so so sorry." This really ruined by experience here.

We picked this place as a base for college tours of Georgetown and GWU. We arrived very early for check-in, but the staff was super friendly and accommodating and were able to find us a room despite our early arrival. The room was large, as advertised, with a living room area, kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom. Everything was clean and in good shape. Super convenient and great staff as well!

Not only was the hotel well located, had a great mini-apartment space, and was great in every usual rating aspect - but the staff were extraordinary! We had a difficult situation to deal with and they went above and beyond! This is where we want to stay for our next D.C. visit. Thank you to the staff!

It is technically a walkable to all attractions which include White House and Memorial area. The local busline across the street can take you straight to main shopping street and Virginia or the attractions. George Washington university is right around the corner where the metro station is located too. Location is excellent.

Home away from home. Room was well furnished with kitchen utensils and all you need to prepare a home cooked meal away from home. Trader Joe’s right across the street adds a huge value to this location. Friendly staff as well.

Check in was a breeze. Location was excellent within a short walk to restaurants and stores. Big comfortable room even it was a junior studio. Welcoming and helpful desk staff.

Pleasant staff, Facilities (Wine bar, room, and common areas) were in great shape. Came to take in a show at the Warner Theater. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

This place is a joke. The rooms are gross and dated. The pictures they show are not what the rooms really look like. Way smaller and dirtier. There is no maid service except every 7 days. Unless you want to pay 125 bucks! They are mad when you ask for a towel because they only give you 2. They get mad when you ask for anything. Rude staff. Then they scam You and charge 500 bucks for smoking even though you didn’t. The rooms are gross and toilets are dirty. Carpet smells like dog sh… Place is crazy expensive for a dump. No food or bar just an awkward weird dirty place that scams you!

Loved our stay here! Felt like we had our own city apartment for a few days. It was walkable to most attractions including the White House, Lincoln Memorial, and Washington Monument. There was a Trader Joe’s across the street for groceries. Parking was located right in the building. They provide two cribs for my twins. The kitchen had everything you could need to prepare a meal, but there were also a lot of great restaurants in the area and a wine bar downstairs. We would definitely stay here again!
