Across many reviews, Hotel Giles stands out as a charming, historic boutique stay with exceptionally friendly hosts, very clean, comfortable rooms, and a house-made breakfast, creating a peaceful atmosphere in walkable, small-town Comfort.
Multiple guests enjoyed the courtyard and social touches like happy hour or live music, and the property feels well maintained. Setbacks were occasional: small or older-style bathrooms, a one-off hot water issue, a strong toiletry scent for one guest, and bedding preferences not suiting everyone. The downtown location is walkable, wineries and Fredericksburg are a short drive, and the town can be very quiet with some early or midweek closures. Expect a restful, personable stay in a historic setting.

Love staying here ! Beautiful hotel, welcome happy hour, delicious breakfast . The fire pit gets all the guests out and socializing, linens are top notch, having a Tesla charger on site is over the top service . This is just a 100% wonderful place to stay . Looking forward to our next trip to the Giles!

The owner and staff went out of their way to make our stay amazing. This historic hotel is in a wonderful small town with a vibrant downtown. Our room was wonderful and we so enjoyed the live music concert in the courtyard.

We were @ Hotel Giles from 3/31 to 4/2/23. They serve wine & snacks on Fri @ 6 in the sitting room inside, plus a couple guys were jammin'. One of them was Ernie, one of the owners. Had a blast! We chose this hotel specifically because they had a Tesla destination charger (charges overnight), so very convenient. Breakfast was home cooked & excellent. Bed was very comfortable & bathroom was large for a hotel, nice shower. All staff we're excellent. We were in room 1 out front. Enjoyed sitting on the rockers outside our room, watching the world go by & listening to the music from one of the bars drift over. Music stopped by 10PM.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and would not hesitate to stay here again! The room size and condition was comfortable. The breakfast each morning was wonderful. One of our favorite aspects was how the manager spoke with us about what we like to do and made activity and dining recommendations and reservations for us. Her suggestions of where to go and what was happening around town on different days made our experience much better than if we had tried to plan on our own. Our favorite event was the Friday evening “lite bites and guitar pickers” in the hotel parlor. The whole feel of the Giles is comfortable, like home, from the front porch to the gazebo. The staff works hard to make create a unique experience for guests.

I have stayed at this hotel/B&B for many years under different property owners, and managers. While I have always enjoyed it, it is clear to me that the new owners/managers and staff have really upped their game. There was live music in the courtyard when we arrived, Everyone was very welcoming, the staff was always asking what they could do for me, and the facilities themselves have been upgraded. I love the place and the town. I’ve stayed in many of the rooms, including the owners suite, but I really like the cottage in the back.

We were pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel is. Everything is so well preserved and is set up for optimal enjoyment. There is a wonderful courtyard with a firepit and plenty of seating to just relax and enjoy. Even enjoyed the little hummingbird flittering around from plant to plant.

Nice location. Breakfast was very good and person working the breakfast very friendly, other staff not so much. The Room was clean, but had a sewer odor. Because this is an old building indoor plumbing was added later and so bathroom is very small. Shower is tiny which was ok for us since we aren't large people, but for most it might be a problem. Would stay again but would try a different room to help with the odor problem.

Very comfortable and clean room. Loved the soap and lotion! Breakfast was delicious. Only thing I would say is the shutters in bathroom don’t close completely shut and at night while taking a shower used ingenuity to close them.

We had a very nice spacious ground floor room with king bed and large bathroom (suite 7) in the Carriage House annex. It had a view of the main building's rear. It is a nice heritage building. Towels and shower were good. Breakfast offered freshly made hot items and home-made jam of good quality. Friendly staff. Parking in the quiet street in front of the hotel. Breakfast time between 9 and 10 am, a bit too late to our liking. The king bed was a bit too sensitive to a partner's movements in bed. But these are minor issues. All in all recommended!

Overall, this was a good option in the lovely town of Comfort. When we arrived, it was happy hour and live music playing in the courtyard. The room was cozy. My only suggestion for improvement was the bedding. Sheets were microfiber. Pillows hard foam. Cotton sheets and soft pillows are always my hopes for a hotel, but that seems less likely these days.

A lovely, comfortable, historic property with friendly staff. We especially appreciated the call we received from them while en route, making sure we were on a safe path and not driving into dangerous, flash-flooded roads. The dining area was accessible during non-breakfast hours, making a microwave, wine glasses, etc. available if needed. We also enjoyed the modern art pieces throughout the property. Thank you, hotel Giles for a pleasant stay for our anniversary (and for the card with well-wishes)!

Absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Giles. The staff were very helpful and super knowledgeable especially Ernie. Breakfast every morning served by Irene and Meredith was very delicious. Surrounding shops and restaurants were very nice. The two antique shops they have in town are worth a visit or two. Comfort is less than 30 minutes from Fredericksburg and less than an hour from San Antonio which makes the stay that much better. And I can’t forget the hotel cat Jackson. He loves attention so he will seek you out during your stay at some point. We will definitely be returning to stay at this fantastic hotel tucked into the Texas Hill Country.

It’s a very lovely historical hotel that we thoroughly enjoyed. It’s also in a very great location in downtown comfort Texas with all the cute shops and places to eat and drink. They also offer a couple of bicycles that makes it fun to ride around the small town.

Shampoo and soap are tabaco scented, disturbingly strong scent. I was very happy when I had the chance to wash my hands with regular soap and get rid of some of the terrible smell.

We celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary in Confort, Tx. Staying at Hotel Giles made it even better. Lovely room, brakfast, guest social hour and everything was close by. The vineyards were less then 10 minutes away. Will definitely go back.

You won't find more charm in town than the Giles Hotel. It's an Old West beauty with the upstairs veranda. The room had a modern and spotless bath, and a great bed. Location was ideal for walking to nearly everything in Comfort.Tasteful and tasty breakfast. We will return.

the property was perfect. clean very nice. the staff also were very nice. the location is about a 25 min drive from Fredericksburg so if you want to hang out and drink in Fredericksburg probably not a good place to stay its a little out of the way and also there are no street lights so be aware that if you're driving late night, Its pitch black. Nice if you want to spend the day in Fredericksburg and then come to Comfort TX for a quiet night. you can drink and dance at a local bar where they have a live band. Locals are nice. town is clean... very quaint.

The town of Comfort is perfect for a quiet relaxing getaway. Hotel is pretty and clean, the town is dead Monday and Tuesday, most restaurants don't open until Wed. We enjoyed our stay and we recommended this place for sure!

We had a great stay. The property was very quiet, room was well appointed. Breakfast was great, and they even took the time to cook me scrambled eggs separately, as I don’t consume meat. All staff was very hospitable, I would definitely stay again.

My wife and I travel a lot and stay in a lot of hotels and Airbnb‘s. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at in a long time. From the comfortable bed, to the small touch touches, and the homemade breakfast daily. We would definitely stay again.

Enormously appealing and super cozy boutique hotel in sleepy Comfort, TX where you can really get away from it all. Each unit is different and done up in high hill country style (I was in #22 with exposed stone wall and tiled shower, just great!). Ernie & team really take care of the guests and serve a great breakfast. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the Storyville unit, which is in a separate little cottage about a block from the main hotel. It was wonderful! Very clean and quiet with a lovely porch swing. We walked the short way to the hotel and enjoyed a delicious breakfast each morning. The staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend!

We will come back again! Very nice room and comfortable bed. Home made breakfast. Friendly staffs. Exceptional all around! Close to Fredericksburg and Boerne and don’t have pay high price for the quality that found in those areas. Love the small city and hospitality.

The town of Comfort has great small town vibes taking a person’s memory back to simpler times. We celebrated July 4th here and Hotel Giles was the perfect place to be. The hotel is close to a few eating establishments and very walkable to them. This hotel is clean and historic with very unique rooms. There is a cool courtyard for guests to enjoy. Breakfast was outstanding and served in the Carriage House in the courtyard area. All staff were very nice and helpful. Great experience and I hope to return there in the future.
