Motel 6 Portland, IN

What guests think

At Motel 6 Portland, IN, travelers describe a budget stay with straightforward basics, but mixed experiences with service, maintenance, and amenities create variability from visit to visit, influencing overall comfort, convenience, and confidence in the property.

Many guests found rooms and the property clean, while others reported stained linens, dirty bathrooms, mold, and an isolated bed bug report. Service feedback is divided, with friendly staff and easy check-in for some, but desk availability, communication, and resolution issues for others. Facilities feel basic, with several mentions of broken or empty vending and ice machines and inconsistent lobby coffee, and there is no breakfast; the location is convenient for the racetrack and easy to reach. Expect a simple, low-cost stay with uneven consistency.

The property was easy to get to and clean. Some of the lights in the room did not work and coffee that was suppose to be in the lobby in the am wasn't there.

The hotel had recently had a name change so am assuming it was re-purchased. There was building debris in piles on the outside of the building. Workers were lounging in what limited seating there was. I smelled cigarette smoke in the halls of the residential area (non-smoking facility). My room was very stark. There were no hand towels, wash rags, shower floor matt. There was no bedspread--just sheets and pillows on the bed. Even when I turned on the heat, it would run for a few minutes then shut off and the room became cold again. I asked for a blanket for the bed and the front desk person said to just turn up the heat. Clearly they are undergoing some type of renovation but they should have provided guests with a discount for the less than average conditions of the facility. I will not come here again.

This hotel really impressed me. The room is very spacious & clean, with full amenities . It even has an ironing board and more! I love the updated modern look. The linens and towels were clean. The shower head has multiple settings and bathroom was spacious. The king size bed is so clean and cozy the nice 55 inches TV is complete with very clean mini fridge, and microwave .They are definitely giving other hotels a run for their money that's for sure! I've tried Motel 6 hotels in other cities before,& the experiences weren't so great, so I was pleasantly surprised at the modern upscale elegance of this one. OH! They also have a fitness room, and Coffee 24 hours. Will definitely be staying again in future!

The room was comfortable and clean. Clean towels were provided daily without having to ask. The coffee area was not stocked with condiments and the lids did not fit the cups. Also for safety purposes, I would like to have seen the side entrances only available to card holders for entry and also ground floor windows locked. We found out ours was unlocked as we were checking out.

There was not a coffee maker in the room. They had two ice machines but the snack vending machine was empty and the sodapop machine was out of order. No breakfast offerings of any kind. The flooring in the room was one x two foot vinyl "tiles." There was one paper cup by the bathroom sink. There was an ice carrier, but no plastic bag liner

The staff was very nice and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. The only two things bad were the drinking vending machine was empty and they didn't give us enough pillows, because we are two pillow sleepers.

I woke up this morning, took a shower and discovered that there were bed bugs. I counted AT LEAST FOUR! I’m a traveling musician and I’ve stayed here before when I’m in the area. I can post pictures of the bugs if this review will allow me to. I DO NOT reccoment this place.
