Beautiful room and easy to check in and out. Right in the middle of all the fun stuff and easy to travel anywhere. We had a rental car and were entirely confused on where to park it overnight, but we managed.

The rooms are so cute and nice! They have cookies, coffee, tea, earplugs, eye covers, everything to make your stay comfortable and they even give you a token for a free drink downstairs! Location is also great. No staff on site, but honestly didn't matter because everything needed was provided. If you do need help, you're able to text them. Loved staying here.

There is no parking anywhere near the hotel. I was told to use an app called SpotHero to find a space, but that app only deals with hourly and monthly parking, no overnight parking. There is no lobby in the hotel, so there is no one at the front desk who can give help and advice. There are no refrigerators or closets in the room. Give the Hotel Castro a miss.

My mother and mother in law needed a place to crash around the corner from where we lived, and this was the closest property. Pros- great location, comfortable room, beautiful view from rooftop terrace. Cons- if you’re not tech savvy, the self check in and navigating the rooms/elevators is tricky. The elevator code didn’t work at first, which required a call to Kasa to fix. I consider myself pretty tech savvy and even I felt a little lost. Took a little bit of figuring out the blinds and lights as well. If I hadn’t been helping my relatives they would have had trouble getting in. So, great hotel and spot, but too reliant on remotely operated self check in/out. If you’re super tech savvy probably not an issue

Though this hotel room was significantly smaller than expected, it was well appointed, safe, super clean, and in an amazing location. You can't really beat the location. I appreciated the no hassle check-in process, and I really liked the virtual front desk. I'd definitely stay here again.

This is one of those contactless hotels that I have been hearing about. Was skeptical about it but it was right around the corner from my kids' apartment so I went for it. It was great. Never saw another person while I was there. The "staff" was at my fingertips and was always making sure I was all set. I will be staying at their Alexandria location for my next trip.

With no on-site storage, if you have a late flight home and need to check out at 11am, nowhere to store your luggage. Our room was directly above the Bar that is open and has loitering outside by drunk/rowdy patrons until 3am. This should be disclosed by Hotel prior to booking room #201

Visiting family for Thanksgiving and decided to fly in early to get a little SF getaway squeezed in. First, the location is AMAZING! Right in the heart of the Castro district. We are a gay couple, so this was heaven. Shopping, restaurants, clubs - all within a few blocks. And of course Muni is right there to get to other parts of the city easily. The room was (very) small but super cute! The decor was amazing. And very well laid out given its size. The size is an issue however - we couldn’t fully unpack since there was no room to put things. So if you are staying for a longer period of time, you may find it a bit uncomfortable. (we only stayed 2 nights). This also isn’t a regular hotel. It’s more like an Air BnB situation. There is no front desk. But there is a bar next door that apparently serves as the front desk. Just a heads up if you’re looking for a more traditional hotel experience. Overall we will definitely be staying here again when we come to SF.

The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Castro. The property is clean the decor is modern, the room size is on the smaller side but appropriate for urban setting. Have 3 stars for the following reasons: 1. Broken/none functioning lighting fixtures for premium price cost. (Do have a video to show). 2. Inconsistent hot water supply. Stayed on the 4th floor and the hot water was in and out.

The rooms where updated, clean and nice. The staff at the bar downstair were amazing. The only call out is thE blinds in the room did not work and its open to the courtyard. When we called to try and get a resolution, we were introduced to a BOT which was not helpful. The whole trip there was NO PRIVACY!!

I really enjoyed the location. It was so close to the Muni station and lots of great restaurants and bars. The free drinks with the tokens were a wonderful surprise. I did have a problem with the shower. I enjoy nice hot showers and, unfortunately, the water became luke warm within 10 minutes. Maybe that’s to encourage people to get out faster but right now, during the Winter, I like getting out of the shower nice and toasty. There was also a lot of noise happening at night and I don’t mean street noise, which was an anticipated concern. We kept hearing dishes clinking until nearly midnight, which I thought was strange. Overall, I would recommend this location.

Loved this place! Perfect location, size and layout plus so many modern additions like Google TVs and hub. So much attention to detail overall. Will definitely stay here again when Im lucky enough to get back to SF! There's only one very small critique and that's the shower water pressure could be a little stronger but it was sufficient as is.

Very compact room. Glad I was traveling solo as I felt two people in the room would have been too tight. There was noise from the bar underneath the hotel and on the street that facilitated the need for white noise to drown it out if trying to go to bed before 1am. Location is great to everything in the Castro.

My room was very small with little floor space and extremely noisy (coming from the street, the next room and the room above). The neighborhood was excellent, the shower was very nice, the small balcony was pleasant, the rooftop lounge had wonderful views and the bed was extremely comfortable. Thank goodness because the room was ALL bed. Didn’t love not having someone on the premises to resolve any issues. Communication was mostly via email and text which was frustrating. Perhaps it was my oversight but I was not aware that there was no front desk at the property until I had already booked. (Impossible to reverse!) For the price I’d prefer to have a front desk.

What a great boutique hotel! The check in process was very easy and they accommodated me with an early check in. Location was perfect. New, fluffy towels, Nespresso machine and electric kettle a plus!

The property was very well located. It was a short walk to restaurants, shops and public transportation. Check-in was virtual, easy and convenient. The property manager checked with us shortly after arriving to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Highly recommend.

Castro is great, but if you're doing anything but partying don't stay here. This is a loud party hotel with no staff - literally no staff - so don't expect any service whatsoever. This isn't hyperbole: the hotel operates on an app-based model with no front desk and no on-site staff. You check in via your phone. We asked for 2 extra blankets at 4pm, the person (probably overseas) who was responding told us to look in a cabinet on the first floor. No blankets there so that's it. Around 9pm we get another text response, "We can get you blankets tomorrow." There was a party on the floor above us - good for them, have fun. But of course we can't sleep. We left for another hotel around 11pm, had to fight to not get charged for the next several nights and still got charged for the night we had to leave. They want to make more money by having literally zero staff but hotels don't function with zero staff. This is a non-functional hotel.

I never got into the hotel, and I was assured my card was not charged. However, you did charge my card for the stay, and I expect a refund. This is one of those contactless hotels that I have been hearing about. Was skeptical about it but it was right around the corner from my kids' apartment so I went for it. It was great. Never saw another person while I was there. The "staff" was at my fingertips and was always making sure I was all set. I will be staying at their Alexandria location for my next trip.

Very compact room. Glad I was traveling solo as I felt two people in the room would have been too tight. There was noise from the bar underneath the hotel and on the street that facilitated the need for white noise to drown it out if trying to go to bed before 1am. Location is great to everything in the Castro.

The property was very well located. It was a short walk to restaurants, shops and public transportation. Check-in was virtual, easy and convenient. The property manager checked with us shortly after arriving to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Highly recommend.

I love this place! Is queer friendly! It’s safe! It’s expensive but in a good way, because it’s that safe! I am new to the city and I get nervous due to crime being common in cities, but The Castro Hotel and the very district makes me feel safe and comfortable with myself and my surroundings. I love everyone one this neighborhood!

Visiting family for Thanksgiving and decided to fly in early to get a little SF getaway squeezed in. First, the location is AMAZING! Right in the heart of the Castro district. We are a gay couple, so this was heaven. Shopping, restaurants, clubs - all within a few blocks. And of course Muni is right there to get to other parts of the city easily. The room was (very) small but super cute! The decor was amazing. And very well laid out given its size. The size is an issue however - we couldn’t fully unpack since there was no room to put things. So if you are staying for a longer period of time, you may find it a bit uncomfortable. (we only stayed 2 nights). This also isn’t a regular hotel. It’s more like an Air BnB situation. There is no front desk. But there is a bar next door that apparently serves as the front desk. Just a heads up if you’re looking for a more traditional hotel experience. Overall we will definitely be staying here again when we come to SF.

The room was great! The area was incredible! It’s not a traditional hotel where you can get room service and stuff but there are plenty of restaurants/bars in the area. There was a strange flashing red light in the room in the middle of the night. I don’t know what that was about but everything was fine

The rooms are so cute and nice! They have cookies, coffee, tea, earplugs, eye covers, everything to make your stay comfortable and they even give you a token for a free drink downstairs! Location is also great. No staff on site, but honestly didn't matter because everything needed was provided. If you do need help, you're able to text them. Loved staying here.

The rooms where updated, clean and nice. The staff at the bar downstair were amazing. The only call out is thE blinds in the room did not work and its open to the courtyard. When we called to try and get a resolution, we were introduced to a BOT which was not helpful. The whole trip there was NO PRIVACY!!

I really enjoyed the location. It was so close to the Muni station and lots of great restaurants and bars. The free drinks with the tokens were a wonderful surprise. I did have a problem with the shower. I enjoy nice hot showers and, unfortunately, the water became luke warm within 10 minutes. Maybe that’s to encourage people to get out faster but right now, during the Winter, I like getting out of the shower nice and toasty. There was also a lot of noise happening at night and I don’t mean street noise, which was an anticipated concern. We kept hearing dishes clinking until nearly midnight, which I thought was strange. Overall, I would recommend this location.
