What guests think

At Econo Lodge Brainerd, reviews describe a budget stay with mixed upkeep, as the aging building and grounds show wear, while room cleanliness and maintenance vary greatly, creating experiences that range from comfortable and quiet to disappointing.

Common issues include slow-draining showers, faulty or weak lighting and appliances, humidity or HVAC quirks, and visible exterior neglect such as weeds and potholes. Breakfast feedback is mixed, with several guests satisfied and others noting limited choices or poor coffee. Location is generally quiet and convenient for getting around, though the shared building with Quality Inn can make check-in confusing and there is no elevator to upper floors. The shower drains so slow the tub fills with water in a five minute shower and takes another 15 min to drain. We were switched rooms and they both did the same thing. There were ants in one of the rooms we stayed in. The heater was set at heat to 66 and it felt like a sauna it was at least 75 in there. No elevator to get to the second floor so just inconvenient not a huge deal. Everything was just very run down and old. The staff was very nice.

This was the dirtiest stinkiest hotel room I have ever stayed in. All the floors look like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. Everything was sticky greasy filthy dirty. Everything was extremely old worn out holes in the furniture. One of the beds had crumbs under the bedspread on top of the sheets Parking lot was overgrown with weeds. The door look like it was gonna fall off. The hinges whole property was totally rundown. This hotel should be demolished.

When we arrived we ended up driving around the whole building bc it’s not clear where the front desk is for the Econo lodge bc the quality inn is also attached. The front desk for both are in the same place. Check inn was fast and easy. The front person was very helpful and pleasant. There was no elevator seen just fyi. Our room was clean. The door Sercuirty could be better it’s a chain lock on top of the dead bolt. It was quite and peaceful. The beds were a little harder than we’re used to. We didn’t eat breakfast there but wanted to get some ice water for our bottles and the breakfast person was not friendly. When asked if they had cold water she said no only hot water. We asked how they fill the dispenser in the lobby she just said we only have hot water. Over all if we didn’t have another option we’d stay again

We booked a room at EconoLodge and got a free upgrade to a room at the QualityInn, the nicer rooms in the same building, which was great for our family stay. Staff and service was excellent. The building itself is aged and needs better ventilation for the rooms, hallways, and breakfast area. Nice and quiet location with lots of parking.
