What guests think

At Comfort Inn Detroit - Troy, many guests praise clean, quiet rooms, friendly staff, and a convenient location, but reviews are mixed overall due to recurring issues with housekeeping standards, room maintenance, and occasional noise from thin walls.

Cleanliness feedback ranges from spotless rooms to reports of dirty bathrooms, strong odors or smoke, and several mentions of insects, including bed bugs and ants. Guests frequently cite HVAC problems, broken door or shower handles, malfunctioning TVs or outlets, and small rooms, with noise from hallways or adjacent rooms also noted. Breakfast is generally adequate but basic and sometimes poorly stocked, and a few reviews mention limited parking and issues with back entrances. Expect a budget stay with good value if things go smoothly, but quality can vary.

Overall from checking in to check-out was nice. My only concern is the walls are a little thin as i can hear others yelling or their TV. Walking into the room the place was overall nicely clean, just the phone was filthy and caked with dust and the sheets could of used another wash as they lacked scent, but they didnt smell or have stains. The shower had no shampoo at all and lacked tissue paper from their box, lack of coat hangers too. But everything worked and was nice and cozy. There is no thermostat just a big A/C machine that also functions as a heater which was lovely. The staff was friendly, but there was a person who was knew and didnt know any answers to questions i asked, but they're new, no harm done. The ice machine are on the second and third floor, i stayed on the first and had to walk all thr way up and through the hall for any ice which was a bummer and took a few minutes. The listing is advertised as a laundry but they dont have thay service. Overall breakfast was nice, room, decently clean with no odor. I will book again, especially for the price.

We booked a three night stay. In town for a wedding. When we walked into our room it smelled so bad of air freshener we had to open the window to air the room out. We figured out late the first night the AC didn’t work. We told the person at the desk in the morning, who said “ok”. When we came back the second night, the AC still didn’t work. We didn’t get much sleep those nights. The next morning, we told them again and a maintenance man was sent in, who immediately said, we need to get you another room. They did, then we had to leave for the day. When we came back that night, to the “new” room, the tv didn’t work and the bed was “made” with the wrong size sheets. Too small!! There didn’t seem to be enough parking and the breakfast was awful. Very disappointing for a Comfort Inn.

Parking was not the best. Back entrance was broke so you had to walk around to the front. Seemed like the noise level was louder than an average hotel environment. Like there wasn’t much insulation or sound deadening. Bathroom was nice but floor felt grimy. And perhaps it was because I showed up at the end of breakfast time, but i passed on what was there.

Bed bugs in my first room! I arrived late and discovered the bedbugs after about an hour. I went to the front desk at midnight after driving all day and was given another room. This one seemed clean. Ac was off so the new room was about 80 degrees at midnight. Not much sleep had that night. I was offered a 50% off my NEXT booking (which i dont travel much). But thats what we come to suspect as customers, nevermind your current trip, here's a discount so you can give us more of your money! Im so sick of buisnesses treating people like garbage. Oh and the icing on the cake.... i have 1 month to use the offer lmao.

Check-in was quick once the front desk employee arrived after about 20 minutes. She had a situation to address. She waa courteous once she assisted me. Coffee waa cold in lobby. Cookie holder was empty. Was told they don't provide on weekends. Clock radio and phone were not plugged in. TV waa not workin. I asked for new remote control batteries. They were provided, but TV still didn't work. Walls are thin. I could hear the TV next door and the other wall, I could hear the woman talking on her cell phone. If you need a quick night, this hotel may work for you, but don't expect a fancy hotel. Bed waa ok.

This hotel was not quiet. The walls are paper thin. Besides people yelling or slamming their doors at all hours of the night, I could hear the room next to me having their alarm go off from their cellphone for a very long time ( I have same alarm). I even heard the man urinating into his toilet. Don’t expect to have privacy if here. If it helps Everything else was great.

The place is a nice budget option and exactly as advertised. Affordable, clean, and the staff was perfectly nice during kur ahort stay. The two major setbacks for us were the thin walls and the quality of the sheets. While the sheets were clean even after a cery thorough check thr material was not the best and even felt like scratching. The thin walls didnt really help as well. Seceral sounds from people walking in the halls and cars and trucks across the street as well as the staff at the Japanese restaurant next door opening up, we heard it all. Overall if youre on a budget and a deep sleeper itll be fine for you.

Aside of the lack of cleanliness within the hotel and the bugs found in the room, effective management of the guests by the hotel was not present. Guests running up and down the halls, making noise and clearly partying made it difficult to have a restful night sleep. This went on for a while until we finally made the request to move rooms. Additionally, we decided to cancel our reservation and leave the hotel the next morning. A call was placed to the hotel management team regarding resolution at which I was told they would call me back. Weeks later, I’ve yet to receive a call back from their Manager to discuss our situation. Collectively, a terrible experience with very little concern for the customer experience within their hotel. Avoid staying here if at all possible.

Our stay was a mess. First we were given a room that someone was already in. I felt absolutely horrible walking into their room and invading their privacy. Then we were given a new room. At 10 pm, another couple was given our room and walked in as we were getting ready for bed. Terrifying that a random person had our room keys and could easily walk in when we were changing or when we were out and could have stolen our things. The beds were very small and quite hard. The bathroom was not clean. The breakfast was decent but not frequently stocked. I marked it 2 stars because the front desk staff were so friendly and helpful.

The staff at the front desk were very nice. The location was good. But… The room wasn’t completely clean. There was still food in the fridge. The TV didn’t work because someone changed it to HTMI and pulled a cable. There was a bus of teenagers who were loud both evening and morning. Someone propped the back door open at some point.
