Surfs Up - retreat at the beach with heated pool

Pros: the location is amazing, it really is only about a 5 minute walk to the beautiful beach and even though its fairly close to a main road we were never bothered by traffic noise. The pool was clean, the backyard is a good size and offered good shade for our 2 dogs. The surf theme extends to every room of the house and offers some interesting history and beautiful photographs. The bed in the primary bedroom was comfortable.Cons: the air conditioning was NOT capable of cooling the house. When we checked in it was 77 in the house, we set it down while we unpacked and 2 hours later it had not gone down one degree. With every fan going full blast, and the sun setting, it finally went down to 75 by 11pm. We reached out to the owner and he didn't respond until the next morning (Sunday) and told us he would try to get someone out Monday, fine just let us know when they'll be by-he didn't. He did not respond for 3 more days, after the AC person had stopped by and basically said there was nothing that could be done because the unit was too small for that house- we just made due with fans but I would hate to be there in August. Secondary but still annoying, the floor was gritty with several sticky spots and I found an ice cream wrapper under the kitchen counter so I spent our 1st morning vacuuming and mopping the floors. I mentioned that to the owner and he just said it was done before we got there- ok. Melbourne is great but I would not rent this house, or from this owner, again.

The house is relatively old, the hot tub was not working, once I entered the swimming pool area I saw a cigarette but on the ground. I asked Steve about the hot tub right away but till I left it was not fixed.

What a perfect property for our family! The home is exactly as stated, and even more charming. The surf theme throughout was beautifully done with great attention to detail. It was so clean and the location just steps to the beach. We wanted a quiet getaway to recharge and there was no better place to do that. We opted to heat the pool and the temp was perfect for after long morning sunrise walks on the beach and night swims. Our dogs were so happy to vaca with us and the house did not disappoint. We will absolutely try to get back to Melbourne Beach. Thank you Steve!
