Stayed 1 night

When we opened the door to the room, a stale odor hit us. The wall A/C was so noisy we turned it off. We opened the patio door and let fresh air in, which helped. While my hubby napped I sat on the patio. Having a patio was a NICE feature, but the door itself had something splashed on it. The 2 chairs and little plastic table had black spots that were engrained in them. Regarding the bedding, bath linens and bathroom, ALL was very nice and CLEAN!! The carpeting and the room in general desperately needs updating. In that regard… I don’t mind staying in an outdated room if the cost would reflect it. However, we had to pay 3x what that type of room warrants. We wondered if there were updated rooms and in fact, we saw one that was much nicer. In my opinion, the price of the room ought to be based on its upgrading. The breakfast was GOOD, particularly the omelette! The wedding venue looked nice and the grounds had many gorgeous flowers. It’s evident that this place was beautiful in its day. It could be again with upgrades. As far as staff, they all were friendly and congenial. Nothing about the stay made it worth $243 a night.

The hotel needs some maintenance such as paint touch ups indoors and out, and the restaurant, lobby and breakfast areas need updated furniture. However, we were very comfortable and the staff was terrific. Drinks, music and dinner on the patio were a highlight on our trip.
