Stayed 1 night

This was our first time at a Tru hotel. The entryway is plastered with happy hello and welcome messages, the lobby is brightly colored with very modern-style furnishings. Front desk staff was cordial and helpful in suggesting local restaurants. The room was very small but brightly colored and adequate for our one-night stay. Bed was very comfortable, room was quiet, and the shower stall and shower were excellent. Oh, and the ends of the toilet paper rolls were made up into a butterfly and a bowtie, so there's that. Breakfast was expansive and very well-stocked by a very busy attendant, but fair warning, she started actively shooing people away immediately after its designated 9 am closing time so she could start closing it down. There were a few minor downsides. The furniture is pared to a minimum, with a tiny desk and little room to place our open suitcases other than the floor. Bathroom had limited counter space and the shelf was mounted too close to the water faucet handle. Most importantly, and especially for a fairly newly built property, was a noticeable lack of conveniently-placed plugs and USB ports. I was really surprised at the apparent absence of available wall plugs and USB ports until I finally found two ports on the top of the alarm clock on one side. Two more were mounted somewhat inconspicuously on the other side of the bed, but there were no spare outlets on either side of the bed and we had to make do with outlets that were much farther away.

I had a reservation here through Hotels.com. I had to leave early because of a family emergency. When I checked out, I explained my situation at the front desk. The individual stated she couldn't reimburse me without the agreement from Hotels.com. It took several days for Tru to provide the information I needed which showed I checked out a day early, and gave up the room early that morning. When I finally was able to provide Hotels.com with this verification, I received the following notification from Hotels.com. WE'RE FOLLOWING UP FOLLOWING YOUR REQUEST TO ADJUST YOUR RESERVATION WITHOUT PENALTY. AFTER CONTACTING THE PROPERTY, THEY'VE DECIDED TO UPHOLD THE ORIGINAL CANCELLATION POLICY AND HAVE DECLINED THE WAIVER REQUEST. After several days of jumping through hoops trying to collect the required paperwork from Tru in McKinney, they reneged on their promise. Enough for me to avoid staying at any Tru property.

Our stay was a great experience. The room was comfortable and well-maintained, which made our trip much more enjoyable. The staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. This location was also very family-friendly, with a comfortable atmosphere that made it easy to relax and enjoy our time together. There were plenty of shops and convenient places nearby, making it easy to grab anything we needed without having to travel far. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would recommend this location to other travelers looking for a clean, convenient, and welcoming place to stay.
