Showers Inn is a charming historic B&B praised for spacious, comfortable rooms, attentive staff, and a standout made-to-order breakfast, with a walkable location near Indiana University and downtown that many find convenient yet generally peaceful.
Several reviews note occasional late night noise from nearby party houses or street traffic, and occasional slow responses to issues, with one report of limited after hours staffing. There are isolated comments about minor maintenance or cleanliness misses and, for some, a short breakfast menu or timing that may not suit rushed mornings. Overall, expect a distinctive B&B stay with historic character and a personal touch.

We stayed in the main building. Common spaces were wonderful and original to the historic house. Very comfortable and nicely appointed throughout. Dining spaces for breakfast were very nice. Had the option of sitting at a private or communal table. Very nice service. Several great options available for order off of the menu. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Beautiful landscaped grounds. Quiet and peaceful. Parking very near by. Downtown Bloomington and IU campus very accessible on foot or by car. Room was very comfortable and well appointed. Would definitely recommend for a stay.

The 2nd floor balcony room was so cool. We loved having our own outdoor space and entrance/exit onto the lovely courtyard. That was another really cool feature--the courtyard felt like we were at an English manor. The only slight disappointment was the check in staff. They were helpful but not particularly welcoming.

I had a solo weekend stay for mom's weekend. Even in February, the grounds were pretty and well maintained. Indiana can be ugly this time of year. I loved that I could walk to most places where I met my son for meals, etc. You can easily walk to campus or the downtown square from here. The room was immaculate and appointed with everything one would need. The breakfast was speedy and very good. The place overall had a great vibe. I felt very safe on my own and would definitely stay here again in the future.

We had a balcony room & it was simply stunning! The place is cozy, charming & the bed was super comfortable. The made Ti order breakfast was delicious. Thank you Ella for taking care of us! We can’t wait to return!! 6 minutes from IU campus

This was a lovely B&B. We enjoyed the porches in the Composers House as well as a glass of wine in the the garden outside of the main building. The breakfast was a multi-course culinary extravaganza: fresh from the oven blueberry muffin, bowl of fresh fruit, and your choice of an entree. I had the stuffed pancakes with the most delicious sausage links and scrambled eggs. Only issue was that there was quite a bit of outdoor partying going on in nearby houses until about 2:30 am (Thursday night/early morning Friday). As I'm a lighter sleeper, a sound machine would have made this a non-issue. Loved that it was close enough to walk to boutiques on the square and to campus.,

Lovely bed and breakfast. Very friendly staff and helpful. We stayed in the second building which is not as nice as the main one. Found old cookies etc in the. Abi eta otherwise nice room. Main issue was noise. There is a frat house or similar very close and we were kept awake until 5am with very loud music and constant shouting. Not good fro a nights sleep.

So charming and adorable! The pictures do not do this historic property justice! The room was spacious and orderly. I loved that the bathroom was far from the bed and the wet bar was really nice. The bed was so comfortable and had very nice linens. It was surprisingly quiet too though the hotel was pretty full. The breakfast was to die for! We had muffins, a take on an eggs Benedict and apple crepes with cranberry syrup. The staff was very helpful and everything was a short walk so the location couldn’t be better. We are definitely staying there again!

Very nice house in a quiet neighborhood. It may have been because I was there in the summer when the university is not in full session but it was very peaceful during my stay. The house was very well kept and my bed was comofrtable. The staff during breakfast was excellent. It was greeat service and my coffee cup was always full until I said I'd had enough. Highly recommend this place. Oh, I stayed in the main house on the upper floor. I really liked the bay windows and all the natural light that came from the windows. Bathroom was really spacious too.

What an absolute hidden gem! My room was HUGE & the bed was so comfy. I stayed in Composer building and I couldn't have been more pleased. The courtyard was so adorable!!! We were visiting for graduation so I unfortunately had leave before breakfast was served, but I will 100% return. This was one of the most adorable and lovely hotels I have stayed at in a very long time.

A wonderful B&B. There is the main house but we stayed in the annex called The Composer in room 110 (2nd floor, corner room). Breakfast was delicious and well worth the stay. Only drawbacks: 1) the only have ROKU service so we never were able to access cable news 2) it is a double bed but comfortable.

No one works at front desk after 7pm. When i finally got into my room later that night- the shower handle was broken and i couldn’t turn the shower on. I called the front desk and emailed them. No one responded. I finally managed to get the shower on with cold water. I reached out to owner about some items left in the room after check out and he/she never responded

We had a great time. Place was clean and nicely furnished with a porch swing, glider and comfortable chair. We sat on the covered porch in the rain. Walking distance to the Union, about 6 blocks. Breakfast was delicious and table service was efficient with friendly staff. The only thing was we put out the checklist of what we needed and nobody ever came to read it or provide supplies.

Showers Inn was awesome. The house was gorgeous, the room I stayed in was so quaint and adorable. I felt like I stepped back in time. Despite being in the middle of a college town it was quiet at night. The neighborhood was very safe and walkable and there were plenty of restaurants and bars to walk to in about 10 minutes. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to stay that isn’t a cookie cutter hotel. Can’t wait to return!

Dining
Breakfast is widely praised as gourmet, creative, and made to order, with many calling it exceptional. A few note a short menu or that it can be slow if you are in a hurry.

We are definitely staying there again!

amenities are new, room is clean, but you can see some spider webs at some ceiling corner. Breakfast is great, it is actually a restaurant style. If you're hurry in the morning, you had better skip breakfast here

Great experience but I do wish the breakfast menu had more options Also it was a little noisy at times with the music playing and doors slamming. The neighborhood is safe enough and adequate parking. Overall it was a decent experience but not amazing. Thanks.

First time staying and it was great! We enjoyed every moment of it. Especially the breakfast we had (Huevos Rancheros) that was the most authentic I've had outside my home!! Kuddos to the chef! God Bless this place!

Although my stay was top notch from check-in to check-out, the included breakfast (from a menu) stood out as the best I have had at a hotel or B & B. It was incredible as was the wait staff who took my order and delivered exceptional service.

I had a good time at Showers Inn at Bloomington. It is a family owned business, so kind of relaxed and chilled. The room was spacious. The breakfast is made to order and is of high quality. The property is right near the downtown, and close walking distance to shopping and dining options. It rains a lot at Bloomington, and is very humid, so beware of mosquitoes and bed bugs.

The breakfast was amazing. The room was well done and spacious. However, there was a broken glass table on the balcony. I reported it to the front desk in case they didn't know about it.

Clean. Location was great for getting to downtown and IU campus. Staff was super friendly and breakfast was yummy. The only issue we had was that the bed was not a king. We originally thought it was because the rooms would be small but they are huge and could easily accommodate a king bed

Breakfast was definitely the highlight. Prepared by a chef who clearly loves what she does and treats each guest as a VIP. Great historic property in a residential neighborhood. Well maintained. Walkable to downtown, University, and football stadium too. Perfect for our needs.
