Angola Motel

What guests think

At Angola Motel, reviews portray a very budget-friendly, older roadside property with big trade-offs: many report serious cleanliness problems and dated, worn rooms, while a smaller number find acceptable value for a quick, no-frills overnight.

Amenities are limited, with repeated notes about no ice machine or in-room coffee and occasional problems with fridges or air conditioning. Service is often friendly and helpful, and the location is easy to access off a main road, though a few felt the area was seedy or isolated. Expect a very basic, low-cost stay with notable compromises.

Check in was fine. First room they had no key so they moved us to the room next door. The first room we went into stunk so I was happy with the other room that smelled better. Everything was old but not in bad shape besides the beat up lamp shades. The room was mostly clean besides the microwave. Had food splattered all over the top and sides. Gross. Bed was comfortable enough. We got an extra blanket and that was helpful. There is no coffee or coffee pot so that was a bummer.

There were roaches in the room. TV was weird had to do some manipulation to get channels very out dated tech, and no access to ice or even the front office, room was okay shower hot cold water the handles made it hard to know which was cold or hot and then the water temp was difficult to adjust, most needed up grades that we have ever experienced in our 15 years of traveling, but for the price of everything else around was ok.

It was very hot when I was there, so it would have been nice if the a/c had been on before arrival since it took HOURS for the room to cool down... i didn't expect it to be cold, but comfortable would have been nice. Also, my room was not vacuumed very well upon arrival. One last thing, harsh cancelation policy: I was expected to cancel by 6 pm the day before despite making the reservation at 10 pm. 24 hours would have been nice, but I would have settled for 12. Besides that, everything else about my stay was pleasant.

No ice, no bedside light. Carpeting didn't feel clean. The presence of a refrigerator/freezer offset the lack of an ice machine.

Bathroom door had no doorknob! Room was gross. Cigarette burns on comforter. No coffee maker. Trash on floor. Completely overpriced. The worst stay of our lives. Wish we had slept in our car instead. Beware of this motel.

Five years ago this hotel would have charged $45 per night. It was still the least expensive in the area. Accommodations were mediocre as the shower water temperature was unstable and there was no comforter on the bed. I guess in this day and age that’s what you get for $80 a night

Would only use again as last resort. Lacked a lot of anemeties as most hotels - my list (and explanations) would be too long to post in an abbreviated format.

It was adequate for our needs after our campsite was flooded with torrential rains followed by high winds. Cheapest place we could find to rest protected from the elements but quite runned down and barely clean. Postage size dark unvented bathroom and car motel bedroom with extremely loud wall ac unit. Bed was okay and personnel were friendly. Overpriced.
