Loved being on the top floor with the wonderful view and huge patio. The place was super clean and nice. The reason I gave 4 out of 5 for property condition is that the patio didn't drain the rain easily on the patio for the top floor. The rest of the building and stairs were maintained in nicely. The garage to park your car is about 30 yards away. This a boutique hotel is older so you have a few stairs to get to some rooms.

This hotel is across the street from the beach and the shared balconies on each floor overlook the pier and ocean. The shaded balconies have a large outdoor lounger set and several tables so you can drink your morning coffee or do some work while taking in the sights and sounds. The rooms are comfortable with a nice bathroom, TV, mini split air conditioner, and refrigerator. The rooms are small but just big enough to not feel too cramped. There’s a large closet and the bathroom had a nice sized shower. It was weird that the shampoo and body wash were just laying on the floor as there is no shelf or ledge to place anything. We arrived 1.5 hours early and they wanted $50 for early check in before 3pm. I could see if we were trying to check in before 12 noon but not an hour earlier when the room was actually ready. There is parking in a garage that was convenient. Would stay again because of location and adequacy.

I don't understand some of the reviews about the loud noise they hear from the bar until 3am. I barely heard anything. The train maybe a little but it never really bothered me. Staff was great, very helpful and knowledgeable. Stairs are safe, but a tad strenuous for some of us older folks. Thats why i recomend (and did myself) getting a room on the 2nd floor. View is stunning. Rooms are tad small but clean. No bugs. You are near everything plus a free trolley. Restaurant below were very nice. So much to do, or just chill all day. Waves can be strong. At times I was hit by waves from both the front and the back! Felt very safe, even at night. I recommend this place wholeheartedly.

We love this boutique hotel it is a little sparse on the big hotel amenities but it is very enjoyable to stay at. It has four stories but it has no elevator so be prepared to walk up and down the stairs. The views on each level are incredible of the pier and the ocean.

Beautiful area easy access to the beach and other tourist spots like food and trinket shops. Only thing is the parking, hardly any have to get in at the right time or park up the road abit and walk down.

You can't get much better for being directly across from San Clemente pier. There's a variety of restaurants directly below the hotel and all you have to do is walk across the street to get to the beach. The hotel will provide beach chairs and towels. Everything was wonderful!

This property is located 2 minutes from the pier & 15-20 minutes to a ton of shopping and restaurants. The room was quaint and clean. Paid parking is the way to go here as street parking is metered and no overnight.

When we arrived the lobby was closed for maintenance so there was a number in the window to call. It took 4 attempts before we got ahold of someone. If location is your top priority, this is the place for you. Across from the pier and beach. Shops and food within walking distance. If you are expecting the room to match the price tag.. you’ll be disappointed. Cracked floor tiles in the bathroom, cracked wood floors in the bedroom, holes in the walls, mold in the air conditioning unit, a fireplace that doesn’t work and baby cockroaches in the bathroom. Great location.. terrible hotel.

It is a wonderful location with spectacular views and awesome outdoor shared balcony / patio spaces. The room and hotel were well kept, clean and came with little touches like hand sanitizer in the room.

The place is run down and dirty. Dirty walls cracked bathroom tiles. The cops came running through the hotel yelling and chasing people at 1:00 am. We left something in our room and they won’t respond to our request to mail it to us.

The pictures of the rooms that are represented in the The site is not accurate. Other than a door and a small window in the front room, this was like a cave. The bedrooms had no windows. A shower was literally inside the bedroom—no doors, just a shower curtain separating from the bed. The towels were so thin that they barely dried you. The floors were so dirty that I had to wash my feet after my shower in order to put my shoes on. I took pictures. The second bedroom had no air conditioner. So very disappointed very bad maintenance in this room

Rooms are motel 6 level, very dated, sad looking, bad wifi, no room cards, need keys, but staff is friendly and helpful and location is perfect. A little money toward upgrades would go a long way here. We would not stay here again.

Room was full of mosquitos and while we swatted as many as possible we could not get rid of them. Wifi in Room 1 does not work. Towels similar to Motel 6. The name of the hotel is almost non-existent on the signage. We had to find the location via the street number. Parking is challenging but parking fee is very reasonable. Overall good location, but don't expect perfection.

We stayed for a romantic weekend over the New Year holiday. The room was described as having “a fireplace and a whirlpool tub for two.” There was a fireplace… that didn’t work. There was a big tub… that had jets present that didn’t turn on. And the shower head was a trickle of water into that same tub and it was so squishy underneath that it felt like we might fall through the floor at any moment. The bd was not uncomfortable, but it wasn’t comfortable either. Just meh. The location is perfect and we had a great time together, but the stated amenities were nonexistent.

This property has the best view of the ocean. My room on 3rd floor was extremely dated. It really needs renovation. Water pressure was unacceptable. Standing in plastic tub was unstable. Felt as if you were on a boat. Room was Definitely not worth $300 per night. I wouldn't stay in that room again. Also, parking is a bit of a trek and the first parking stall is not a safe spot to park as when you back out the auto gate opens and hits your car...not good.

I have stayed here before and loved it. This trip the move to the 3rd floor no stair access promised never took place so with a bad knee I struggled with stairs. NONE of the messages I sent were answered. The cleaning lady who has been there for 30+ years was the most helpful. The hotel is really super convenient and I still love it. However, service has definitely gone downhill.

Being by the ocean with an ocean view of the San Clemente Pier cannot be beat... the rooms are cutely decorated and so clean...Rosy at the front desk made us feel so welcomed and was attentive to our needs... we received a free upgrade on our room and we could not be any happier...we will be back for sure... this property is amazing.

The location was perfect...So convenient. Everything you could want was literally downstairs and/or across the street. We would have preferred a bigger bed, but we made it work. Overall, we loved it & would definitely come back. The staff was super nice and made everything very easy for us.

This place is great for a simple room with a view! A little outdated but still super cute. Customer Service was fantastic! Its a really old building so drains smell a little funky every once in a while, but overall it is a nice place to stay for the price.

They sold are Casa Tropicana room (even though we paid in advance) and put us on the ground floor of the Sea Horse Hotel in a room that opened onto the sidewalk and people would walk into because they thought it was a store. Keep your doors locked if this happens to you! Staff offered a discount but it was fake we learned five days later once they realized money had already been paid through Expedia. After 14 years of every year, never again. These new staff/owners are deceptive at best and we are now pursuing restitution for never receiving the suite we were charged for.

Not a good experience at all. Hot water system broke Saturday evening and they had to wait about 4-5 hours to get someone to reset it. Couldn’t shower before dinner or after dinner until 10:30pm. Staff was not friendly. They offered a free burrito for the inconvenience. The place is run down.

The hotel has a great view and the feel of the neighborhood is good. However, there was no mention of the train tracks between the hotel and the beach and the 1:00 am freight train was really disturbing. I was surprised that no mention of this was in other reviews.
