Many highlight stunning sunsets and peaceful grounds. A few guests note areas needing upkeep, dated linens, and steep or tricky steps down to the beach. Breakfast is widely enjoyed, though a couple mention timing or quality could slip. Expect a personal, view-focused retreat.

The property was lovely and I really liked the access to the bay (the steps were a little challenging for my age). The room was comfortable and well stocked. The cooling was controlled for the floor and was a little too cool until 10pm. Breakfast was terrific! My only poor experience was with the host who served and then sat at breakfast with the five guests. After a small amount of checking in with everyone, he (and the other male guest) dominated the conversation. I felt I had to leave early because of the discomfort I felt.

The property had easy access to beach. The view from our room was stunning. Mike was an excellent host and we enjoyed talking with him. His knowledge of the history of the area was an added bonus to our stay. Breakfast was a real treat with an Italian egg dish, homemade muffins. sausage, fruit, juice and coffee. We cant wait to go back.

We got in late but the owner was quite understanding and made us feel at home. Everything was clean and functioning. Next morning, the breakfast was very good and our host sat down and chatted for awhile. Very interesting local stories about the revolutionary and civil wars wars. Before we left, we got a few recommendations for restaurants in our next stop. Very nice overall.

The property was hidden behind treed field and away from the highway, given it a mysterious feel. We received a warm welcome from the proprietor who showed us around. It was very clean and very well kept and the back faced the bay. The room we stayed in was well appointed and clean. Breakfast was prepared by the proprietor and it was excellent. We will go again.

Had a great three-night stay at Baywood. The property is secluded in woods, but also right by the water. The beach is lovely, and you can wade out pretty far without getting past your chest. Breakfast was always tasty, and coffee was always ready outside the door by 6:30. There are a few small drawbacks -- no food or drink available on site after breakfast (i.e. the kitchen is closed), meaning you have to drive elsewhere if you want anything to eat or drink (incl. coffee). There were also a few things in need of repair in the property, such as a squealing shower head. But all in all, Baywood is a great, private getaway for a couple -- close enough to Cape Charles for some daily activity, but remote enough to feel like you have the whole Chesapeake Bay to yourself.

I am sad to say that this Inn needs a facelift. It\'s shabby. The towels are so old they have lost and semblance to whiteness. The robe was literally frayed - id post a photo of I could. The "big breakfast" was a huge disappointment - and warm country breakfasts are really plus in Bed and Breakfast. While there was some generic peaceful music much of the time - including at breakfast - network TV was blaring with a big screen distracting. In short - it\'s time to transfer the reigns or make it the family house it was intended to be. Plus side: beautiful serene patch of beach. Nice property - nice sunset view. If that\'s enough to meet your needs and you have no other expectations - go for it. Be sure to bring your own robe and functional towels. At this point they are doing things on the cheap. I\'m sure at one point things were more lively - but it\'s outlived it\'s hayday.

Mike was an excellent host. The morning coffee was a wonderful blend ready to enjoy (on the balcony overlooking the bay) at 6:30 am. I missed breakfast because I had to leave early but he gave me a nice warm muffin to take with me. The room was comfortable and everything was extremely clean and fresh. I highly recommend the Baywood for you stay on the Eastern Shore.

This place is a gem! Just a convenient eight miles from the town of Cape Charles, this 3 room inn sits on its own private beach in its own little oasis of peace and beauty. The room was comfortable and well appointed, and the host is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. I really felt like a guest in someone’s home. I highly recommend the Baywood - the in town properties look very nice but everything is so easily accessible that it’s more than worth it to stay in this off the beaten path spot and enjoy the privacy and hospitality. We will definitely be back.

We lived the location and feel of the property. The balcony and view were amazing. The owner, Mike, was hospitable and super friendly. He made you feel welcomed and at home. The breakfast he made was delicious. I would highly recommend Baywood to anyone going to the Eastern Shore. Also, if you have children the playground area and private beach is perfect

The hosts are very gracious and accommodating. The house is lovely with comfortable shared spaces on the first floor and four bedrooms on the second. Ours is one of two that have a lovely view of the Chesapeake Bay. We opened the glass door to our private porch and had a gentle breeze of fresh air all night (this is in May). The house is nestled in the woods so it is very private with no neighbors in sight or sound.

We hope to stay here again.

The room was large with a wonderful balcony overlooking the water. The view was outstanding. We were received by the owner who we enjoyed talking to. We felt comfortable immediately. We left early the next morning and had a delicious homemade muffin and fruit for breakfast.

I can't say enough good things about The Baywood Bed & Breakfast. This was my second visit, and it was just as lovely as the first. The cleanliness of the room is beyond any five-star establishment that I have stayed in. And the breakfast that is cooked by the Host Mike puts any breakfast I've had in any dining establishment to shame! I HIGHLY recommend the Baywood to anyone looking to enjoy a quiet, peaceful and relaxing experience.

The best thing about Baywood is the view overlooking the bay. Otherwise, the accommodations are average and I believe overpriced for what is offered. That area of the Eastern Shore is rural and doesn't offer many choices, so you can't be too picky. But, the property feels tired and we expected more for that price. We didn't see a single staff person the entire time we were there. We let ourselves in and there was a sign taped to the door letting us know which room was ours. In the morning, we came down and breakfast was already cooked and sitting on the table. Then we let ourselves out. It felt like a self-service hotel.

I enjoyed the stay tremendously. The owner was friendly and went out of his way to make certain our needs were met.
