Amish Inn

What guests think

Across recent reviews, Amish Inn earns praise for clean, comfortable rooms and friendly staff, but travelers also note a dated property, a limited breakfast, and occasional maintenance issues such as closed amenities and poor TV channel selection.

Train noise from nearby tracks is a recurring complaint, though room placement matters and some stays were quiet; the setting is convenient for Nappanee and South Bend visits. Grounds and exterior upkeep are frequently criticized, while interiors are usually tidy and rooms sometimes spacious. Expect a clean, no frills stay with personable service and limited extras.

Very clean room & bathroom. Clean and tidy in common areas & breakfast area. Minimal packaged food for breakfast. Dutch cafe nearby for excellent food so not a big deal. Pool looked clean but did not use, short stay. Property surrounding building not maintained. Grass mowed but weeds in landscape beds were 3-5 feet high. Place looked abandoned.

Weeds and grass are overtaking the parking lot and landscaping. Green mold on fences arpund the pool. I was expecting an Amish style breakfast; however, it was very basic continental bkfst. Six trains woke me up through the night sice they whistle for the nearby crossing. Not sure how Expedia had it rated a 9.0?

First impression was that the hotel was abandoned. Landscaping and walkways all grown up in weeds. The roof and siding dirty. No cars in the parking lot. Dark. Desk clerks not friendly. We were the first people to check in that day and we asked for our rooms to be close. Could not accommodate. "Had others checking in later that day" What?? Did they all get to reserve a certain room?? I would not let a small child crawl on the carpets. "Breakfast" was toast and cereal...at a hotel named Amish Inn. I expected better. Not one person was in the dining room during breakfast hours. Only plus was the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. We paid twice the amount we spent on a Drury Inn the night before. It was fantastic. Spotless. Full buffet supper and a great hot breakfast. Go on down the road people. The Amish Inn was a huge mistake. Last thing, there are train tracks close by and trains woke us up several times.

I’ll start with the pictures don’t match. They are the same building but the pictures are when it was new. It was fairly clean old but clean. There was no working ice machine in the building. There were wires hanging out of the ceiling where the fire detectors should be.

No hot water for shower. When mentioned to staff, was told needed to wait for thirty minutes before the water would get hot. Pool closed. No staff on premises between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. poses safety issues. It was way more run down than the picture indicayes but the room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Service wasn't good. I asked for the free breakfast and pointed to a gift shop that had cetealwithput milk for purchase, apparently no breakfat except on weekends. Then there was no hot water and I was there for a fitness conference and not taking a shower was a major inconvenience. No one knew when it would be fixed, if I could check out and get my money back, etc. No manager around, no maintenance around. No offer to help. I was very disappointed. O hear the cute place right next door is great though. Go there instead.

On checkin we were given a key to a room that was not cleaned. The front desk person was not particularly friendly although she did rectify the room for us. There was a strange odour in the hallway. Our room was fine and while we realize it was meant to be simple, it could have used some updating. The shower was very nice and the bed was fine. Breakfast was not what we were expecting at an Amish Inn - plastic wrapped food in a cramped alcove. The breakfast seating area was large. Also the exterior was a disappointment as I thought it would be tidy similar to Amish farms in the area. Instead it was mostly dirt and weeds outside. Overall an average stay, the old reviews on the website are misleading.
