Hampton Inn & Suites Detroit-Canton

It was very inconvenient that the pool was closed. I think they did this on purpose since they knew there was a lacrosse tournament this weekend.

The property was in the process of being remodeled, and this led to areas being closed off, and the stairwells being BLOCKED by the painters when I tried to use them (which for fire code purposes are supposed to ALWAYS be open and available). I was shocked when I could not access either, since I never use elevators unless I have to. Hopefully they never do this again. Maybe the hotel will be better once they finish this remodeling.

Booked this room for NYE so that the kids can go swimming . Pool was closed , bummer

Pool is closed . I booked the hotel over 4 weeks ago. They decided to close the pool after my booking. I should have been notified that the pool would be closed during my stay.

The hotel is under renovation. There is no lobby at this time, however other facilities like pool and gym were available thankfully. Rooms are really nice and clean with all amenities. Beds are very comfortable. Pool water was slightly colder than usual and there was no washroom or change room in the pool area but outside. Breakfast was average, should have some more options in terms of cereal, bread, fruits etc. I didn't find the coffee to be particularly good. There are lots of dining and shopping options around the hotel.

This property is under renovation. There is trash all over the facility. The repairs are shoddy.

Pool and gym were closed for renovations. Room next to ours had a crowd that was up ALL night, very loud and slamming doors. Lobby reeked of weed. Garbage in the hallways. Came looking for a good nights sleep, swim in the morning and breakfast. Well…. We did get breakfast

I wished the Expedia informed customers that Hampton was going under construction when i was booking. The hotel website mentions it but expedia did not. The power also went out during the last day of my stay On the positive side the room was clean but a little outdated. There was no microwave in the room which was really inconvenient. The breakfast was good.

Nice property room was spacoius. Only thing was the pool was freezing. No room safe that I could find.

Lobby and elevators were so dirty all the time.

This location was filthy. Mold in the showers, water damage all over the ceiling, down the curtains and walls in the room. Dirt and spills on pretty much every wall. Remotes, lamps and tables did not appear to be cleaned in quite some time. No AC running in the hallways, and it was about 100 degrees. Combined with people leaving dirty diapers outside their rooms, so the smell was horrendous.

Upon arrival we were told that they didn’t have the room that I paid for. I had pre paid. I was given a two person room when I paid a lot of money for a six person room, the six person room was listed online, but they don’t have such a room so they didn’t know why it was offered. They even looked online themselves and saw the room. Once in the room, our 15 month old ran over and picked something up under the table- it was a pill!!!! Thank goodness we caught her before she put it in her mouth. I let the desk know, but she wasn’t too concerned. The bathroom shower was also disgusting- the shower track was full of mold that spread each time the door was open and shut. Then we also had a massive bug of some sort in the floor. It was an awful stay for too much money.

Front desk staff were helpful, room was clean, continental breakfast was sufficient. It was a pleasant stay and more than adequate for my needs.

Had to change rooms as the first room was not clean.

There was so much dust. They are in the middle of a remodel. The bathroom was not very clean. Hair in the tub, used toilet paper behind the toilet. Maybe I expected too much but I'm definitely used to staying in a little better.

Stayed here while on a work trip. I got in late and there was long dark hair that doesn’t resemble mine on the bed. Wallpaper peeling off the walls and the oily grime on the charging dock in my room. I don’t have unrealistic expectations of a business travel oriented hotel but the rooms here are dingy and management didn’t seem to care that I had hair on my bed. Can’t fathom why this place is rated so highly on Hotels.com.

My room wasn't cleaned to my satisfaction upon checking in. There were sunflower seeds left inside of the heat vent in front of the window as well as the furniture in the room needed to be cleaned of crumbs. The staff was nice upon checking in. There was a line at the desk when I went to address the lack of cleanliness of the room so I just checked out.

Depending on the room you stay in, it appears that noise from the highway may be a concern.

First time i stay in a room with no microwave or frig. All the coffee and condiments were shared with the bathroom area, which in my mind is unsanitary. Also, walls are a little bit hollow, I was able to hear my neighbors late night activity.

I did not appreciate the state of our room. One of the beds was broken and creaked every time you moved. The bathroom light didn't work properly. One of the lamps in our room flickered, and the only way to solve the problem was to unscrew the lightbulb. For over $100 dollars for a single night, I would expect these things to be in working condition.

Quiet location. Spacious room. Great breakfast. My only complaint is the absence of any clock in room and difficulty figuring out TV.

Property is okay to stay. Challenge is rooms convey the sound to other rooms and it is not a comfortable sound always. Coffee machine is kept in the washroom which should be somewhere in the main room. No refrigerators in the room.

I really like the studio room definitely alot of room to move around.

The property was nice, and the staff was incredible. However, the air conditioner barely worked in the room, causing us to sweat all night. That made it kind of miserable

I usually come here every time I come to canton. When I stayed on September 9th check in is at 3PM I got there at 2:28 stayed in my car to give all workers there time of the rooms to be and get done at 3PM well I went in to check in for 3PM at they took my card, took all my information like name, address, phone number then tell me they have no room for me and that I needed to wait 20 mins I waited 30 mins for them I went back in after 30 mins they still had no room for me I had to stand at the desk for an other good 5-10 mins until I finally got a key I asked to speak to a manager a employee said we can get you one and she never did so when I left the next day I asked to speak to a manager an other employee said “there’s no manager here right now what’s wrong” I explained how I came in for check in @3PM and started to tell her how it went and she came back and said well Covid made an effect on a lot of people and things and started to give excuses I then left after grabbing 2 managers cards when I got home I called and ask to speak to Mya she said “there’s nothing she can do other then offer me a $25 gift card but I would have to come back and get it” then offered me to leave a voicemail on a general Manager phone and stated he could do more things then she could and he was going to be in on Tuesday. Tuesday came I never got a call. When speaking to MYA SHE SAID I COULD GET MY REFUND BACK FROM EXPEDIA AND THEN THEY DID NOT GIVE APPROVAL. Otherwise this hotel is clean.

They lacked the basic necessities of a hotel: hot water. I checked in at 3p.m., no hot water. I asked for help then and was met with blank stares from staff. All staff could do was "reset" the water, which did not work and left it bone cold. I left for dinner and came back, still no hot water. I asked for help again, and more blank stares and mumbling about how the manager was gone for the day and would help me in the morning. The next morning, I woke up, and again no hot water. I went downstairs and was told the manager was not there and no one else knew what to do or how to help me.

Paid for 2 nights, they couldnt find my first night stay in the system. They had to call hotels.com to sync it, took over an hour. Was never notified the pool and gym would be closed our entire stay. Room setup was awful tv was mounted on the wall facing the one chair in the room. Most hotel employees greet you upon entering and exiting the hotel not here they never said a word to us.

The hotel staff was excellent!

The customer service at the front desk was not good. The lady was very rude. She told me they didn’t clean the rooms but every other day that was not true. She just was not nice Barbara what’s her name?

Clean, friendly, good breakfast, comfortable beds and pillows. Conveniently located.

Only there 1 night. Room was very clean. Plenty of food and shopping nearby. IKEA was walking distance.

It was far from down town Detroit which was good safe for us

Phenomenal staff & cleaning crew! Our room was sparkling clean, I swam in the (also) very clean pool at 8am and then had a hot breakfast: real sausage and omelettes, potatoes, lemon scones. The front desk helped with directions many times- IKEA and Dunkin walkable one block away. Definitely will be coming back!

Great location!

Stayed here while moving our son into UMich. Great option, about 25-30 min from Ann Arbor, but an easy drive and good option if AA hotels are out booked or too expensive. Second stay here and nice staff. Will see if they have a hotel 14-20 min from Ann Arbor, but if not, this is a good option.
