Website say they have pool and laundry .we need to go neighbor hotel to go pool No heated, lot dust on in...

The ice machines didn’t work. The pool was out of order. It’s the peak of summer.

This hotel was in a run down area of Charleston, and didn't feel safe for 2 female travellers. The whole floor on the 2nd floor had a strong over powering smell of weed. The following day, a very helpful receptionist allocated us a more suitable room on the 8th floor after we told her of the situation. The swimming pool is not in use and seems it has been this way for some time.

Finding the entrance to the hotel was tricky. Not at all user friendly. Definitely needs an upgrade. Signs would help a lot. Neighborhood didn't seem to be the best, several homeless people hanging around. Breakfast area not very clean, nothing was replenished, food pretty much gone before 9, breakfast was supposed to be until 10. On a bright note...staff was was very friendly and helpful.

Pool was green. Tv did not work. Room had stale smell, they offered to move me to a different room but I assumed they all would be similar. I just crashed, got up early and put the experience in my rear view mirror.

This hotel was under maintenance and seemed like a lot of things weren't working well. The room was clean, but hotel and hallways were outdated.

Pool is closed, breakfast poorly stocked with low/no bread, little or no orange juice, and I had to ask for plastic forks. Butter was cut into pieces and placed in a cereal bowl in the mini refrigerator. Limited tea bags available. Sausage and eggs and waffles good. Rooms OK, stained carpet, nice beds and bathroom.

Room wash well furnished and clean except for a bad carpet stain. Area feels rundown with many homeless sleeping nearby. Pool was not in working order and clearly hadn’t been for some time.

The stay was alright. But the pool was not open and the ice machines were not working what so ever. But the staff was very nice and worked around the two issues.

Avoid this place. There are many other hotels to stay in the area. I already knew we were going to have problems when people were in a fight outside of the hotel. We get to our room and there is visible blood and body fluids on our comforters. The head board had body fluids everywhere. The cabinet the fridge was in had at least 2 inches of dirt and dust in it. I picked up the remote and it had crud all over it and was so sticky when I wiped it off with my own cleaning wipes it was completely black. Then the bathroom light look like someone spread their poop all over it. The fridge was not working and smelled like rotten meat. When my husband went and complained no one even came to see the room they just gave us keys to a different one. We go to our new room and the air didn’t work, there was used toilet paper in the bathroom, the same dust was in the fridge cabinet, the iron had so much mold in it and handle wasn’t wiped down, the ac unit had all kinds of dirt in the vents, and everything was covered in dust. There was tons of homeless, ladies of the night, and drugs at night in the street. We drive a Telsa and it caught someone going around to cars trying to get in including ours. Not a good place to stay. Pay a little bit more and stay in the nicer places down the street.

The room had mold in the bathtub and at the edge of the floor, an old broken lampshade with holes in it, a white comforter with little yellowish stains on it, scratched up furniture and a bed that dipped in the middle. They bathroom door had discoloration and was scratched up but I am not sure if it was dirt or stains. At breakfast they ran out of eggs, maple syrup and forks. I asked them to refurbish the food but had to finally leave so I am not sure that this was done. It was in the middle of the breakfast hours, not at the end.

This is the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We barely slept because we could hear everything from the hallway and other rooms. There was poop all over the toilet seat when we arrived. The room numbers were post it notes on the door. Just not worth the money, at all.

The staff was extremely friendly. I did nitice that neither bed had been changed from the previous people and the room needed a good remodel. The chair had a big red stain and the bathroom had several places that needed fixed. There was also a bad smell

Got in around 9:45 P. M. and the entire area was dark. Was not sure where to go for the front desk but stumbled upon it anyway. A little ruff in the lobby area but our room was clean and comfortable.

Over all, I am VERY pleased with my stay. The hotel was very clean (visually and by smell--no strange odors) and very pleasing to the eye. Really the only complaint I have is the amenities need to be updated/kept updated for availability. I try my best to book hotels with a pool, as we travel for softball tournaments and my daughter likes to relax in one after a long, hot day of ball. We did not know the pool was "closed until further notice" until we pulled into the parking lot. Not a huge deal, just would have liked to have known in advance.

The room was really dirty. They did not clean. There was a horrible smoke smell in the room.

It just seemed a bit old and run down in the lobby but our room what pretty nice.

No phone in room. Coffee maker not working. Finicky thermostat, room temp diffecult to manage. Stain on the chair(upholstery) Room seems clean.

Renovation’s going on in building and next door. Noisy throughout the night.

Fine for one night, but wouldn't stay again. The rooms were large, but the drain in our bathroom drained very slow. The only working ice machine was on the 6th floor.

Stay was ok Disrupt by a customer in the evening time where police called in. Room was ok except air conditioning made loud noise and toilet ran. Had to shake handle Staff was great

No kleenex and very little toilet paper. The beds were very comfortable, pillows were flat. No phone in room to call the desk. Window had only a sheer covering, so all light from outside illuminated the room. The sink had no stopper to close. Carpet just inside of room had large stains.

The room itself was fine, although outlets were limited and inconveniently located. The rest of the property seemed very rundown and in disrepair, especially the exterior - if I didn't have a reservation I would have assumed that the hotel was closed for renovations based on the state of the exterior. I also came back to my room one afternoon to find that my door was open, a cleaning cart in the hallway, but no housekeeping staff to be found anywhere - that's not okay!

Hotel was well located to take in much of the area. Literally right across the street from the Clay Center and Planetarium. Many great restaurants and Pubs nearby. Rooms were recently remodeled. Easy access to the Interstate and plenty of parking. Staff was awesome and loved their jobs! Definitely would stay there again when we visit Charleston, WV

Staff were very friendly. The coffee pot in the room, however, was broken and clearly had been for some time.

Everything was good except the fire alarm close by and beeping all night

Would have given a really good review had it not been for the kitchen staff cursing and screaming and threatening me because she was feelin some kinda way . Very stressful and very scary I think she was bipolar or something

The clerks were extremely nice!

Receptionist was not as expected . When I asked for tooth brush he made face. While leaving I asked for a water bottle she said there is no water left . That is something not expected . I am not asking for 10 bottles . It’s a courtesy to atleast provide a water to the travelers . This is my second time in this property but decided not to visit this again .

The front desk man was the absolute rudest person I’ve ever encountered in a customer service role. We asked if we could get two of them conjoined (which I also asked for when I made the reservation) and he said they don’t do that here, then totally ignored us when we asked if the rooms could be close to each other. When we asked him why he ignored us, he became verbally combative and continued to fight with us about our rooms. It was absolutely unacceptable for a customer service role. I would not ever consider staying here again.

My general impression is that this is a nicer mid-range hotel that was built without a good understanding of the location. Charleston isn't a "bad" city, per se, but this specific area is a little sketchy. The hotel itself was very nice - staff was great, rooms were big and nicely appointed, a little wear-and-tear but nothing major. I wouldn't have felt super comfortable walking around the immediate neighborhood to find a place to eat (especially with our two kids) and the fact that we had to park in an open, unsecured lot put me on edge a bit. All that being said, it was a good value for a night's stay, and I genuinely hope that the neighborhood improves so that this hotel lives up to its potential.

We arrived around 11 p.m. This is a hotel in the downtown area. There was a cop car close to the hotel talking to a pulled over vehicle. The hotel entrance was not easy to find, kind of in the back parking lot. A homeless man was sleeping on the sidewalk nearby. It felt dangerous there. The breakfast was not bad, but they did not replenish the eggs. The place was clean on the inside but it was the outside that was a bit scary. Not a good área of town.

Nice close to downtown and the Clay center.

Although this is in the civic center district it is in a very run down area. There are lots of homeless people around the hotel and sadly a lot of them were sleeping on the pavement across from our window. There were also quite a few people who were quite clearly on drugs hanging about as well so overall it didn't not feel a safe area. We were a bit wary of leaving our car in the car park but all was ok. We did make sure we were back at the hotel before dark as it definitely is not a place to be at night.

I found this hotel to be very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Thur location was walking distance from the Charleston Coliseum. I did not feel unsafe walking around but be prepared to see homeless people on benches here and there.

The hotel lobby, halls, and rooms were clean. Elevator is fast ans the beds were comfy. On the road besides the hotel a lot of homeless stay. We walked to Capitol Market because it was only 5 minutes away, but that caused us to ahbe to walk by the 20+ homeless which wasnt an issue going to the market, but coming nack was a different story. There was 3 homeless mean that appeared high and werw arguing. One had a make shift hammer and the other 2 were hollaring at him and saying they had knives. We got by as the one went on into the hotel parning lot. The other 2 proceeded to walk behind us to follow the man they were arguing with and the 3 other them continued their arguing and fighting in the hotel parking lot. If you stay here and have to go anywhere I higly recommen that you drive, no matter how close the place is, because the area surrounding the hotel is not safe. We went down for breakfast an hour before it was supposed to end and they were out of most of the food and drinks. Waffle mix ran out, no gravy, no bagels, & ran out of milk. Really disappointed they didnt keep breakfast stocked. Not a place I will stay again.

This hotel is in a VERY scary part of town. Do not go outside at night. Water in the faucets was brown. Staff were really wonderful though and did the best they could with what they had.

I was located close to where I needed to be. No complaints. Everything was satisfactory.

We stayed one night here. The room wasn’t horrible. They definitely need new beds and to update the property. It has t been updated in well over 15 years. The morning breakfast buffet they said runs from 6-10am, we went down around 7:30 and there was no food left. You could make a waffle or have dry cereal (no milk). We ended up going to first watch (walking distance) and they had a great breakfast. If I were to come back to Charleston, WV I would not stay at this hotel again.

Excellent service. The breakfast eggs were delicious and the lady attending us asked us how we wanted the eggs (we showed up early so the eggs were not ready yet) and she made them just like we wanted them. Thanks.

They have nothing for breakfast, so up at 8 am, have no food, drinks, nothing left to eat and can’t find anyone to help.

Run down hotel. Room was OK but rest of hotel was pretty gross. No hot food in morning until we finally tracked someone down and asked.

We only stayed to sleep, checked in at 11p and on the road again at 7:30. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Most hotels don’t have the hot options this one had.

Trash overall. Breakfast showed beautifully on the pictures… but in reality, stale cereal, and just super watery eggs doused in salt.

When we got downstairs to the breakfast buffet there was no meats, juice,cups, or bread for toast. All they had were a few scrambled eggs and a couple of biscuits that was it. I inquired how long it would be before any breakfast food would be brought out and said 10 minutes. Then all she brought out was waffle batter. Then the ice machine outside my room didn’t work. There were only 2 towels in the bathroom. And there were homeless people all up and down the sidewalk by the parking lot. The only Quality about the whole thing was the bed!

Free breakfast wasn’t worth it.

Check in was easy. The staff was friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was not maintained. By 8am, the waffle mix was empty. When we asked for more to be brought out, the staff person came and took it completely down with no explanation.
