Stayed here for my wedding. Elevator was broken but staff helped with our bags to the top floor and they were very friendly and helpful. Clean hotel room, great free breakfast with a cool pancake machine. I would stay here again. Very close to walk anywhere you would like for food drinks etc. if you’re here on a Saturday perfect spot to stay and go to the Troy’s farmers market.

Good hotel, comfortable, inexpensive, and good quality. Cleanliness is good. Breakfast is bland and generic. Overall exactly what I would expect for a budget hotel. Parking lot is a bit confusing to get into. Troy is a mixed bag of decent walkable areas and some sketchy areas.

i was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was very clean and quiet. The hospitality staff were very friendly. The room was in great condition and the bathroom was plenty roomy. The fitness center was sparse, but the treadmill worked and I appreciated that they kept the temperature down so you weren't dying from the heat.

I usually expect a comfortable and relaxing stay when I book with Best Western, but unfortunately, my experience at the Franklin Square Inn was far from pleasant. First, the HVAC unit in my room was extremely noisy—every time it turned on, it sounded like a small airplane revving up. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep with that constant noise. To make matters worse, both the shower and sink were clogged. The water barely drained, leaving me standing in a pool of water while showering, which was really off-putting. I reported these issues to the front desk, but nothing was done during my stay to resolve them. I was really hoping for a more comfortable experience, especially given the price, but I won’t be returning to this location. If you're looking for a peaceful and hassle-free stay, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Terrible experience. We arrived at 1 a.m. to find a transient outside the entrance, and there were no clear signs showing the lobby is on another floor. Staff made me feel like I was bothering them by checking in late. The room was the worst part—smelled like sweat and dampness, like a dirty locker room. It felt unclean, and I couldn’t even sleep worrying about bed bugs. I left the next morning and booked another hotel, even though this stay was prepaid. Not worth the money or the stress.

This property is greatly overpriced for what you get. The room smelled like mildew and there were ants in the bathroom. There was some decent dining in the area, walking distance, which was nice. Room did not have pillows for the pull out couch. I got the last available pillow in the hotel. Incredible water pressure but a tub spout in a shower unit which made no sense and sprayed water everywhere (which I believe caused the mildew smell with wet tiles overhead and rotting trim around the door). Much better options in the area for much less money.

The overall lobby and breakfast area was cluttered. seating area cushions were dirty, stained and under the cushions was extreme amount of food crumbs. No milk for coffee or cereal. Returned in evening to no hot water for a shower.

I had never been to Troy/Albany before, and was a bit apprehensive about staying near a major metropolitan area like this, but I was soon put at ease. The location was excellent, parking wasn't any problem at all, and the area was safe. The staff was helpful and accomodated my wife's request to keep her freezer bags in their freezer overnight. I highly recommend the Dinosaur BBQ for dinner--they're right across the street, on the east bank of the Hudson river. Rensselaer University is just a few blocks east. The hot breakfast was good; the automated pancake making machine was amusing, and the custom coffee making machine was great! The wifi internet speed was fast too--I measured at least 10 Mbps. In summary, I enjoyed our stay, and would stay here again.

Hotel seems to be recently updated and clean. I liked being able to walk to nearby restaurants. My only complaint is that the heating system in my room was VERY loud when it came on. So much so that at 2:30 am I got up and just turned it off entirely. Luckily I was not at all cold after doing so and I would stay here again in spite of that…

Very small room, especially for a king size bed. Tiny and almost useless pillows for the king bed. Windows allow much street noise like music from a club or restaurant party across the street. Otherwise, bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean, shower nice. Breakfast was okay. There was an issue about the amount of the charge for the pet fee (Expedia showed a different amount than the hotel shows on their website) but that was finally resolved after some initial back and forth discussion. Overall a 3.5-star experience.

Accommodated our early checkin which was a huge plus for us after our long flight! They forgot to let us know we needed to specifically request for housekeeping which was a bit of a downer. Otherwise - good staff/service and they serve breakfast which is super convenient to get a headstart to the morning.

I called a couple of hours before check-in time to request a room on the first floor since I'm a disabled Veteran and need a room on the first floor. I was assured by the woman that answered the phone that I would in fact have a room on the first floor. When I checked in, I was put in a room on the second floor. Since I'm not able to use the elevator in case of a fire and am required to use the stairs for my safety, this is a big problem as I can't use the stairs due to my disability. This WAS a big problem for me. Also, a BIG problem with this hotel.

First and foremost was the outstanding staff--all of them. They were friendly, competent and especially excellent at customer service. I specifically cite Matt, the front desk staff who checked me in the night of April 4, and Jennifer who ran the breakfast rooms. Matt went out of his way to solve an important room comfort problem and Jennifer was friendly and enthusiastic. The facility physically was in excellent condition, very clean and contemporary. This is among the best hotel experiences I've ever had.

Very convenient location. Nice walk along the river. Staff courteous and pleasant. Only issue , we arrived to town early and asked to be checked in, we were informed there was a 65$ fee for early check-in. This was 1:45, for a 4pm check-in.

Perfect stop for a bike trip down the Empire State Trail. They let me bring my bike into my room and the breakfast in the morning was incredible. It’s just across the river from the trail and has lots of food within walking distance. I can’t not mention how perfect the service was during my stay. I was transitioning from camping along the trail from Buffalo to Albany, to staying in hotels on the way to NYC. I wanted to ship my camping stuff home so I didn’t have to carry it. The man attending the front desk went over and beyond to help me out. Including finding and building a box for me and offering me packaging tape. It made it so easy.

Placed in the heart of downtown Troy! Close to unique shops, great coffee shops, lots of dining options and the very best Saturday Farmers Market. Staff is always friendly, and they do a great complimentary breakfast.

Nice hotel with modern, cozy lobby and dining area. The breakfast spread was notably good. Solid customer service. The only quirks were the sink design (low height and tended to spray) and loud AC unit. Great location near the river, RPI, and downtown retail and restaurants. Highly recommended overall!

Pros: Easy parking, easy to locate and get to, clean presentation. Cons: Can be pricey during peak season because there arent many other modern hotels around. The area around is great on the river side, and suspicious a few blocks over.

Great location to everything you’d want in TROY. Steps away from the Riverwalk with access to several waterfront restaurants. Bus stop right outside property. Location, location, location. Large assortment for breakfast (included). Fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes, burritos, eggs, bacon, links, potatoes, bagels, toast, cereal, coffee, juice, all the toppings you could think of. Top notch. Great for hotel quality. Only thing I didn’t like was no coffee pot in room, but so many shops nearby.

The overall experience was okay. There was no tv because of a storm. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, the included breakfast was very disappointing. The automatic pancake maker didn’t make pancakes, the yogurt machine didn’t dispense yogurt and the coffee machine made only hot water and milk so what was left was cold scrambled eggs and potatoes.

Everything was great. Loved the spacious lobby with lots of seating and light. The room was clean and comfortable. Sadly, they were clearly understaffed for breakfast service. Everything was constantly running out and no one was really cleaning tables or anything.
