Comfort Inn Ottawa Kansas

What guests think

At Comfort Inn Ottawa Kansas, travelers frequently praise the friendly front desk and generally clean, comfortable rooms, while noting that the property feels dated and some maintenance lapses like noisy fridges, dim lighting, or broken fixtures can affect the experience.

Hot breakfast often earns compliments, with occasional supply or equipment hiccups. The location is convenient for dining, trails, and town access, though road construction and freeway proximity cause minor access or noise issues for some. Expect solid value and service in a basic, aging property.

Stayed 4 nights

We stayed at Comfort Inn for 4 nights, due to my sewer line collapsing, and having a flooded house from the sewer line. First off, the people at the check in desk are very rude. No smiles, and half the time don’t even acknowledge you are there. My daughter went to ask for a complimentary toothbrush since she forgot hers. The front desk clerk was outside, smoking right by the door. The lady blew smoke in the direction of my daughter and said “we’re out”. There were bugs in the lamp shades, dried blood on the sheets, and huge rips in the carpet. The next day, I asked where the laundry services were, and the man at the desk said “our washer is broke. There’s a laundromat down the street”. In addition to the laundry facility being down, the pool was also down as well, which was one of the main reasons we booked at Comfort Inn. Housekeeping came everyday to bring us new towels and remove the ones we had used, but didn’t make any beds or change out the sheets, or take out the trash. After our stay ended, our house was still not live-able, but we checked out and went to a different hotel. One that had an operational laundry room and pool.

Hotel was not as advertised. The property was run down, carpets were dirty, walls stained, odd smells, etc. The pool was unsanitary and the hot tub had 4 inches of water and kids identified worms floating in it. I would have left and been refunded if policy allowed. Spend the extra 30$ and stay across the street.

Room was ok. Not dirty but not exceptionally clean. Pride in maintenance and repair was lacking. Not matching paint color for repairs, crack in almond colored tub repaired with white caulk. Some mold spots in shower. Toilet was clean and sheets were clean but carpet in the room was stained here and there. Bed was comfortable and room temperature was good. Breakfast buffet was good with a good variety of options.

Property looks sketchy outside but inside was ok other than it smelled like sewer gas in the building. Room 314, fridge hummed all night, no hot water pressure in sink or shower. Toilet clogged up, they could not fix it so gave us access to room across the hall to use. No compensation for the inconvenience, they said a manager will have to call us but so far have not heard anything. Would not recommend. Better options in town.

Check in was very easy, friendly staff and the breakfast also pretty good and fresh no issues. Nice place to stay. Only 1 complaint---we were on 3rd floor and we could not close the drapes--there were made not to be closed, only the sheers closed and they let in way to much light.

TV didn’t work 1st day. Frig very noisy & had to be turned off so we couldn’t use it. Nightstand lamp flickered rapidly when both bulbs were on. Hair dryer had short and only worked intermittently. Bath tub very slippery and grab bar was loose making shower very dangerous for seniors. A low frequency droning noise made sleeping difficult. Beds were clean and not too hard, but otherwise it was a very poor place to stay. Old and poorly maintained.

I enjoyed the staff, Suzy was very informative, genuine and caring. The distance from the University is a plus. However, it needs to be updated. It had no usb plugins, lighting in the bathroom was dim, the bathroom had no fan so the room stayed muggy. The room itself smelt like mold.
