What guests think

At Best Western Plus York Hotel and Conference Center, travelers frequently praise clean rooms, friendly staff, a better-than-typical free breakfast, and the convenience of the attached Applebee’s, making it a handy, pet-friendly stop just off the interstate.

Recent and ongoing renovations mean some hallways and common areas feel dated or dusty, and a few rooms show maintenance issues or musty humidity. Noise from nearby truck traffic affects certain rooms, and service can be hit-or-miss, with occasional slow check-in or inconsistent follow-up on problems. Overall, expect a convenient roadside stay with strong basics and occasional rough edges.

Undergoing renovations but the staff is very accommodating. If I had any complaint, it would be that the pool room was cold. Water was perfect, but the ambient temperature of the room was cold. Will stay again.

Property is run down. Hallways are dirty. Side doors weren’t locked at any time. Beds are terrible!! AC makes loud noise all the time. The Applebees in the hotel was good and people there were great. They were very busy and to wait awhile for our To-Go order, but our food was hot and there was a few people waiting on orders.

Shelly was very welcoming at the front desk. Room was spacious and clean, bed and pillows comfortable. Bathroom countertop was large. Decent water pressure in shower. Good equipment in workout room. Breakfast had lots of hot and cold choices plus fresh fruit. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast room was clean. Older motel but new carpet and paint. Just off interstate but could not hear traffic noise. So nice to have Applebees on the premises - good meal and friendly service. We would stay again.

Property is under construction for remodeling so hallways are a little dusty, which is normal. Never heard any construction noise, they did not rent rooms in that area. Our room had been remodeling, it was clean and comfortabe. Bed was comfy. Applebees is attached to the building so dinner was convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pool looked nice although we did not use. We had our pup with us and there was a nice pet area. Parking was easy. Would stay again.

Review Title: Lipstick on a Pig A coat of textured paint a renovation does not make, even if you cover the bathroom exhaust louver with it. The bathroom sink drain plug wasn't connected to the nonexistent drain lifter stem so it had to be pried loose and removed to allow the sink to drain. The sink water faucet handle wasn't set-screwed to its stem and came right off in my hand... and then the toilet got plugged. Common area carpets are old and filthy. Not a good property.

Property has challenges. First our keys didn’t work and we had to trek back to the front desk for new keys. Night manager was nice and walked us back to make sure the new keys worked. However, we discovered our first room had been flooded and had a terrible mold smell. The carpet was soaked. We asked for another room and were given one of the newly renovated rooms. The carpet was damp in this room but we kept it because it was after 11 pm. Renovation looked ok but bath plumbing was not installed correctly and pipe was wobbly and the shower diverter only worked partially. I wiped up a spill and the bathroom floor was filthy. I think the construction dirt hadn’t been properly cleaned. Breakfast was just ok. The basic motel fare. The staff was attentive and kept the tables well bussed and the buffet full. I give the staff five stars, but maintenance and property two to three stars.

The hotel was recently painted and there was paint on all of the door jams, the lobby smelled strongly of curry, the doors (bathroom) in the room didn’t close properly. Worst of all, one of the beds had been urinated in and just made over the soiled mattress pad. It had dried and smelled. I called the front desk and the woman said no one could change the bed so we got another room (which was clean). No one offered a discount and all we got was a half hearted “sorry”. Will definitely not stay there again.

Sheets, towels, and room were dirty. One member of the staff was very rude to us when we expressed our concerns. I didn’t yell or get angry, I just said we had dirty towels and sheets and he couldn’t believe I would say that. It was a horrible experience to stay here and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!

There was dust everywhere in the room. The jacuzzi was dirty with soap scum and clumps of hair in the jets. Construction was going on in the whole building, so there was noise everywhere and dust from drywall and sanding all over the place. Breakfast there was not many options, but the biscuits were good.

Left my Yeti Coffee cup on a ledge next to the freezer for 10 minutes, came back and it was gone.. It was full of hot coffee. When I asked the front desk, she told me right away that i was not getting it back.... Like you just know? The Cleaning crew is that Ruthless? Take it and not turn it in? No Guest is going to take a mug of hot coffee. House Cleaning was also rude, constantly asking if we are done from 9-10:30 a.m. the morning of check out. ... no 1st of all you stole my Cup !! I have stayed at this hotel half a dozen times, but will look elsewhere next trip. The room itself is fine - bed is okay and the tv allows for logging in to streaming services. However, the hotel is quite spread out and there is only one elevator, which means a hike if you need to use it. (Downstairs hall entry door was locked so I had to use it.) Also, there was only one coffee pod in a room booked for two, but it didn't matter since the coffee maker didn't work. I informed the front desk and received a very polite "thank you for letting us know," but they did not offer to bring another one! The cleaners get started early, so there were multiple carts in hallways and some added noise. The best thing about this hotel is that there is a restaurant inside it, and that is a nice benefit at the end of a long day on the road.

With wind chills at -30, blowing snow and drifted roads the hotel was packed with stranded travelers. I watched the front desk deal with every person with patience and kindness. A special shout out to the employee who helped serve and stock breakfast supplies!!

Best Western has a good location right off I-80 and is within 3 miles of York University. Having the Applebees Restaurant inside the hotel is convenient, and the food is really good. The hotel does need some investment though, the rooms are showing their age. The breakfast in the morning was well-stocked and lots of choices. Housekeeping replaced the towels but did not make the beds which was unusual.

There was ample parking for our truck and trailer. There was a Applebees Restaurant within the facility that made it easy to grab dinner. On the down side, the air conditioner did not have a "continious fan" option and cycled on and off all night long, causing contentious periods of quite and white noise. This causes me to wake up each time the fan turns off, not to mention the temperature swings in the room. This is easily solved by using a "jumper" , as designed on the circuit board.
