At Norfolk Lodge & Suites, an Ascend Collection Hotel, travelers frequently praise the spacious, generally clean rooms, friendly staff, and family-friendly amenities like the indoor pool, hot tub, and mini golf.

Many describe a quiet, semi-country setting and note it sits outside town, so most things aren’t walkable. Critical feedback centers on older rooms needing updates, occasional maintenance problems, and inconsistent room cleanliness or odors in some suites. Breakfast and dining are mixed overall—several guests enjoyed hot options and the attached restaurant, while others found breakfast limited or service understaffed. We had a nice stay at this property. Things I liked: ability to book a suite for our family of five, location, pool, mini golf, and hospitality of the people who work here. Things that could be improved: very limited breakfast selection and updating the suite rooms. They are very dated and in need of a refresh. This would not keep me from staying here in the future—it was overall a nice stay, there are just a few things that could be improved.

Great facility, good staff, amazing pool, nice fitness room...however any noise from above rooms is heard and the beds are awful. The beds are NOT child safe if you have a 3-year-old or younger. They're extremely tall and have very sharp wooden corners. When we noticed this, we tried to get a crib but didn't want to pay the extra fee for one.

Nice place! Liked the rooms with their own private balcony to the pool area. Nice hot tub. Pool was a little green but overall upkeep was nice. Felt like a big cabin lodge. Good weight room equipment. Would stay again, beds are a little stiff on queen mattresses but room was spacious and bathroom nice.

It was great having a restaurant to go to right there. The suite was incredibly spacious. The breakfast was good. The kids loved the swimming pool (the water was a tad cold for being an indoor pool).

Start with the good. The staff is amazing, the property has everything right on sight for you, and it’s a cool place. The restaurant is good, the rooms are huge, and place is clean. The bad. The place needs updates and repairs. The elevator has panels that are broken and you can see other parts of the resort that is just old and needs replaced or fixed. The bed was awful! Super 8 style bed at best.

I showed pictures to the front desk of how dirty our room was. Toilet was not cleaned it had a scummy yellow ring on the inside. Shower was not cleaned as it had pink scum on shower floor, the sink in the bathroom did not drain and was constantly clogged, the refrigerator had food in it still and water at the bottom of it on the inside. I showed pictures of all of this to the front desk. Nice hotel the room was very dirty.

We selected a suite to accommodate our family of 5, when we first entered the room, it definitely had a smell about it. We cranked the A/C on to see if that helped. A few hours later we went to go and get the pull out couch ready and the sheets from sometime previous were still on it... this is where the room smell was coming from. There was a balled up blanket that had a stench on it and the fitted sheet was damp. The front desk was accommodating and did move us to a new room. We understamd things happen but that was kind of a doozy. In general the "older" rooms at this hotel just need a thorough cleaning. Our new room they moved us to was better, didn’t smell as ripe as the other one. Wondering if these were all smoking rooms at one time. The curtain is halfway off the railing and you can see dust accumulated on the curtain banister. The bathroom sink faucet has build up and gunk on it. The new construction rooms are so much nicer but aren't large enough for our family. The staff are super friendly. It's a quiet location. The kids enjoy the putt putt golf.

When we arrived there was never anyone at the desk to answer questions etc Once in our room the room was very hot. It never did cool down and at 11:30 p.m we moved to another room with two very tired little kids. The comforter had a huge red stain on it.
