Motel 6 Elizabeth, NJ - Newark Liberty Intl Airport

My husband and I recently stayed here. We called once we arrived at the airport for the shuttle bus that said was provided free of charge. They explained where to go. We were told every 20 mins and look for a van that says Apex. We waited 45 mins and nothing. We called back and they said the shuttle was coming. After waiting over 2 hrs we ended up spending money on an uber. When we arrived there we saw the shuttle driving through the parking lot. Our room smelled funny and was grungy. The sheets had holes in them. The floor was lifting up. The smoke detector had been removed. The tv’s didn’t work. Which they told us as soon as we checked in. We had this hotel booked for after our cruise. We canceled this hotel and made different arrangements for our return. The hotel was at least within walking distance to food. The AC unit worked well.

The staff was very friendly. Check in was immediate and quick. Keys to the room ready in under 2 minutes. The property is neglected. It is also a welfare motel with long term rentals as evidenced by pets, children’s toys, and behaviors of the residents. There is parking available, however it’s overloaded by the people that live there, and also by the inventory of a used car salesman that shares the adjacent connected parking lot. An excessive amount of cars are on the property, they are double and triple parked. The interior of the room was spacious, but needed maintenance and repairs. The bathroom shower was decaying, cracked tiles and tile grout was crumbling. No amount of bleach could clean the embedded grime and turn the decay clean, it requires a total replacement. We did not use the shower as we were not going to stand inside it. My husband is an exterminator has 3 licenses commercial, residential, and community pesticide application. He checked the room thoroughly. It is clean, no bugs. He was impressed and encouraged, which he said is good that they keep the place clean. The sheets were clean, the mattress was also in good condition and free of major staining. The housekeeping did an amazing job given the state of the room’s structural age and condition. We were on the second floor top level, the metal stairs were weakened with rust, creaking, and felt unstable in spots where the rot was the worst. The place was peaceful and quiet at night. Appliances clean & worked

Every traveler needs to experience this hotel. Once. Absolutely worked over like 10 miles of bad road. Spartan, cracked, chipped, minimalist. The sound of the struggling A/C unit was able to drown out the pulsating music from the club in a greenhouse that shares a border with the property. Sheets moist. May have been towels. Cheap. Slept there one night for an early flight. Free airport shuttle was clutch. Makes me realize how nice our local Motel 6 is. Glad I didn’t have a black light.

Filthy place I paid for two days and left early and paid for another room elsewhere . Manager went out of his way to be rude and difficult

They have no cable, you’re basically watching local tv. My A/c unit had a big hole in it. The layout in the bathroom is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. Their pillows are a half size only a child can sleep on.
