What guests think

Reviews of Quality Inn Rocky Mount I-95 City View describe a budget stop with friendly staff and decent value, but aging facilities, ongoing renovations, and inconsistent upkeep, with reports ranging from clean, comfortable stays to smoke smells, pests, and noise.

Several reviews mention dated, small rooms with hard or squeaky beds, loud A/C or fridges, and noise from neighbors or late-night activity. Cleanliness and maintenance are mixed: some guests found rooms and linens very clean, while others reported musty or smoke odors, mold, roaches or bed bugs, peeling bathrooms, and construction dust. Amenities draw mixed feedback too, with a pool that some enjoyed but others found dirty, varied breakfast quality, bright security lighting and cameras, and limited or crowded parking. Expect a basic, lower-priced stay best for quick overnights if your standards are flexible.

I will start with the positive. Staff was very friendly & helpful (though they could use a little training in solo female travel safety- like not to announce my room number out loud when handing the key card). Otherwise.... upon arrival the room smelled like smoke, the safety lock did not close well, the toilet failed to flush the first time used (just urine- filled to the top of the bowl & never emptied), there was no plug for the bathtub (bathtub WAS nice & brand new looking though had a rough bottom). We mentioned these to the staff who sent maintenance immediately and they fixed it. Pool was murky/green with algae. We did swim a bit since it had a strong chlorine smell and a pool was #1 reason we chose it. Pool towels you get at front desk were smaller than bath towels in the room! Microwave in breakfast area was rusted inside and VERY dirty. (see photo) The room next to ours was also missing a window so anyone could access by crawling through (#112) and we heard noises in that room at night. Highly doubt it was paying guests in there. I travel a LOT and this was one of the worst places I have been to in all my travels. It is NOT the fault of the staff and they are doing their best, but this place seriously needs an overhaul. I am in another hotel tonight (still traveling) and the difference is night & day!! Same price- different state & city.

The parking lot was full of service vehicles which made parking extremely limited. We stayed on the second floor and the steps were crumbling and falling apart. The room was clean however It was in need of a serious update. Me and my daughter were awoken multiple times during the night by hearing doors slamming and what sounded like cabinets slamming. My daughter became sick this morning and the staff did assist me in getting to an extremely old drink machine. My daughter needed a Sprite for her stomach but the machine dispensed a different drink. For the price the room was average and that we only needed somewhere to sleep after a volleyball tournament.

This is our 2nd time staying here. Each trip we stayed for extended time while visiting family. The staff is always really friendly (especially Ms Linda in the mornings at breakfast). Everything is clean and never had any issues. Always feel safe when we are there and I feel safe letting my kids walk around within the hotel by themselves. Also it should be noted that it says they don’t have a pool but they do.

Upon arrival, checked in, got our room key. Entered room and greeted with a musty room smell. The door stuck and you had to push hard to open it. The mini fridge smelled like old food. The paint on the bathtub was peeling and highly unappealing. The bathroom area was very small. There was a mattress coil that kept poking me in my back. The worst part of our stay, apparently it's ok to move furniture and do renovations on the floor above our room until 12:30 am or later. I highly doubt if there were room residents moving furniture around, the sounds and frequency of stomping, thudding and scraping of furniture across the floor was consistent with renovation work. I was highly disappointed with our stay and will not consider staying at this location again..to note, this is our 2nd stay at this hotel. Our 1st stay was fine and we were on the 3rd floor, but this time, nothing but issues and never again.

My room was not too clean the tv was not working the few channels that worked were fuzzy. The bathroom was not clean hairs on the back of the toilet and hairs in the bathtub too. The floor was messy too, awful. The noise from the rise was very loud and started at like 6am. It was the worst night sleep I had in a hotel ever!

Only good thing was the lady at the desk. Room was under construction and was a mess. Phone was out of order. No place to hang clothes and there were both cockroaches and bed bugs. After we retired for the night, we found the roaches and bed bugs. Had to get up, get dressed, pack our belongings and request a different room. In talking to my Neice, she had a similar experience at another Quality Inn. NONE OF US WILL EVER STAY AT A QUALITY INN AGAIN!

Let's be honest. The hotel is in pretty rough shape with lots of repairs and refurbishments needed. It's not in a great part of Rocky Mount, so I appreciate the money they spent on security cameras and fully lighting the parking lot. This business has two things going for it--the staff is great and very helpful; the price point. I chose to stay here rather than pay 2 times the amount to stay at nicer options.

We stayed here last summer and they were doing renovations. When we return this month, I was surprised to see that they were still renovating. However, our room seemed to be one of the updated rooms, when we arrived, our door had some type of substance on it. Which was removed before I had a chance to complain to the first desk. Which was good. The location was great and the room was comfortable. The only real complaint I have is not with the hotel itself but with hotels.com. I have an account with hotels.com and book through them because I thought I was getting the best deal. However, I learned during this stay, that hotels.com DID NOT provide me with the best price! And when I asked them to match the hotel’s price or at least credit my account for the difference, they refused! Booking on the hotel’s website was actually cheaper than booking on hotels.com!

This was my fourth time staying here in about three years. They are still remodeling. There were drilling and hammering noises at 7 pm next to my room. They have all day. I paid almost 80$ for that night. Please make smoking people pick up their nasty cigarette butts. They were all over in front of my room. Besides all that it is kind of a nice place. People are nice.
