What guests think

At Wyndham Garden Madison Fitchburg, guests frequently praise clean rooms, friendly staff, and a convenient, quiet location near trails, restaurants, and UW, while noting dated areas, occasional noise, and the two‑building layout with slow or broken elevators.

The indoor pool and hot tub are popular, though there are reports of closures or maintenance issues. Breakfast ranges from excellent to basic, with occasional shortages or missing decaf. Service is generally kind but can be inconsistent, especially during busy events, with delays at check‑in and limited housekeeping frequency. Expect a clean, good‑value stay with some quirks.

Facilities

Indoor pool and hot tub are a highlight, and parking is easy. However, the two‑building layout can be confusing and inconvenient with limited ice or vending in the annex, the elevator can be slow or out, and the on‑site restaurant or bar is closed.

Clean room and comfortable bed. This hotel is 15-18 minutes from the university. It’s easy to park. There’s coffee all day, and around 11 am or so they put out cookies. The gym is tiny, but the pool and hot tub looked nice.

It’s an older property but one that’s well maintained and well staffed. New ownership plan a major overhaul in 2025. When that’s completed it should become a preferred destination for people seeking a spacious, quiet hotel with easy access to major thoroughfares. It does need a second elevator. A single lift for a four-story property results in long waits and frustration.

We stayed one night in this hotel. They knew they would have a sold out weekend due to Morgan Wallen being in Madison at Camp Randall Stadium. They did NOT staff accordingly. Even at 3pm our room was still not ready for check in.! The room was still dirty. Wrappers in the floor, bathroom not clean. We just needed to sleep some where after the concert.! I would never go back to this hotel because of the staff. They don't know what they are doing. Super disorganized. I do not recommend staying here especially during events in the area.

My room did not appear to be remodeled. The lobby and perhaps the rooms in the main part of the hotel are remodeled as described. The walls were chipped, the closet doors were difficult to open, the bathroom and sink area were outdated, as were many other things. The pillows were hard. I was put in an adjacent building of the hotel downstairs behind a set of doors where there were only 3 rooms. It smelled like a basement in the hallway down the stairs and in the hallway. Luckily, my room didn't have the same smell. It felt like a closet and while quiet - I was concerned about my safety since I was traveling solo as I was far removed from the rest of the hotel population. The phone didn't work ever while I was there (another safety concern). The cable went out for many hours one day, but the staff supported me and fixed that. Also, the internet went out multiple times but the staff was quick to get this fixed too. The property was clean, the staff was helpful, and the price was good.

Booking through a third party is not always the best or easiest way to go if you have hiccups in your trip. I had a huge hiccup in my trip! However, David helped me and guided me through the process of how to reverse the charges for a night I was unable to use. He went above and beyond and I was so fortunate to have him on my side. Not only was the issue resolved, he personally reached out to make sure ducks were all in a row for my stay. I appreciate you David 🙏

Poor service. No items like damp towels, empty coffee packs or cups or empty soap/shampoo was replaced. Front desk staff blamed other staff for screw ups. The room reservation was very misleading, as it said double room, and there was only one full bed. I felt duped by this property. When we asked for another room that was actually two queen beds, they claimed they were fully booked and tried to charge us $25 extra dollars for a rollaway bed. We refused to pay this, so they comped the rollaway and made us set it up after bringing it to our room, and making us carry the linens. Very poor service and experience overal for a $200 hotel room. This was not worth the value of the money. Additionally, part of our hotel floor was falling apart with drywall falling from the ceiling. They have some work to do.

Not a pleasant stay. We got locked out of our room because the door would not recognize our keys. They told our family of 5 that we could hang out in the bathroom while maintenance comes to fix the issue. 45 min later they could only get one key to work, but at least we could get back into our room. Never offered anything for the inconvenience. At breakfast all the eggs and sausage were gone and they never restocked the food. There was only 1 waffle maker, and since there was no other food, there was a line of 8 ppl for waffles. The elevator was so slow we ended up just taking the stairs, but the only stars were at the far ends of the hotel. While try the open the door to the stairs, the handle for that door fell off!! The only pillows for the bed are small square pillows. Not sure why they don’t have normal pillows? The fridge in the room was warm at best. Very unimpressed. Will never stay here again.
