Needs some updating and TLC. TV remote and room phone didn't work at all. Nice size room with kitchen, living room area, bedroom and bathroom. Buffet breakfast had several hot items - scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns ad pancakes. The pool was very nice, but taken over by kids at the time. Nothing else within walking distance of the hotel - it is fairly close to downtown but sits on a hill in a business-park type area that never really took off.

Exciting stay, fire alarm went off at 8:30 pm and everyone had to stand around in the parking lot for an hour until the fire department gave the all clear. Somebody made toast in their room and set off the fire alarm. The room was large, nicely laid out and clean. The breakfast was not very good with limited options and amounts. There is no ice machine on the premises. Was told to use ice maker in refrigerator which didn't work.

I was charged a $5 a day parking fee. I was not told that either at the hotel in person or when I booked it on hotels.com. I was given the option of paying at the hotel. But my total bill on my hotels.com website was $10 less than the final bill at the hotel. And the hotel was nowhere near downtown Charleston. So I should have been told that there was a$5 a day parking charge. I am unhappy with hotels.com and Sonesta Suites.

Great stay when in West Virginia. Nice property with amenities like pool and basketball court. Breakfast is the only thing stopping me from giving this hotel a 10/10. 2 bed 2 bath suite with full kitchen and dishwasher was perfect!

This hotel had a major ant problem and some other bugs I had never seen. I told the front desk and they told me there was nothing they could do. I had to check out early and pay for another hotel. I will NEVER stay here again!

The room was dirty and had hair/mold in the sinks. Hairs were on the floor and the room did not look vacuumed. The pull out had dirty sheets too. Also not disclosed but you have to pay $20 to park. Spots were very limited. If you like to get high you can hang out in the halls. Maybe that helps ppl not care about the room or its cleanliness? How it has a 9 is beyond me.

I selected this hotel because it had a 9.0 rating on Expedia. Definitely not worth anywhere near the $223 nightly price. I give the room we were assigned a 1.0 rating. The room looked worn out. old, and dirty. It smelled musty. There was a large stain on the sofa and another large stain on the carpeted floor by the desk. The bed looked like it was hastily made up. We cancelled our stay. The front desk offered to move us to a different room but we declined. We ended up at the Hilton Embassy Suite in downtown Charleston for $30 less.

This stay was disappointing. Upon preparing for bed, the sheets had not been changed. When informing the front desk, they delivered replacement sheets which contained two bed bugs. Also, there were no garbage cans in sight and the TV did not work.

The staff were helpful and friendly. 5 stars for them. The cleanliness was fair; there were splatters of paint on different pieces of furniture (hot pink paint, like nail polish) as well as hand prints and cheek prints on the mirror. One of the pans had been scorched by a previous user. Overall I would stay here again; but if the cleanliness was the same I would be inclined to find other accommodations.

I stayed here before I flew out of Charleston airport. I only wish I could have stayed longer. I booked a one bedroom suite and was upgraded to a two bedroom one. This would have been more than enough for a group of four or five people easily. Very clean rooms and ample amenities in the suite to meet all needs. Didn't get a chance to sample breakfast as I left way too early so I'll leave that to others for comment. Good water pressure in the shower and I liked the towels. The only thing I would suggest for improvement would be a shuttle bus to the airport for anyone who was dropped off or arrived by taxi. Ideal location for airport and town of you are driving.

The beds were not very comfortable, the pillows went horribly flat during use, and the pull out sofa bed mattress was old and stained badly. Some of the supplied kitchenwares were crusty with old food debris. The windows had all lost their thermal seals and were hazy in between the glass panes. There were no available luggage carts to be found even during an off peak time. The breakfast pancakes were rubbery, and the scrambled "eggs" were soggy and slimy. On a positive note, the front desk woman was very friendly.

We liked the location, just far enough outside the city, for less congestion. Pretty setting, and views. Room was spacious, beds were comfortable, and nice towels. Corridors and room were clean. Only 2 slight negatives: breakfast ended at 8:30 or 9:00 (Sat.), so missed the first one, as we slept in until 8. Also, size of gap under room door allows for conversation in hallway, and loud talking from rooms nearby to come right through. Fortunately, everyone quieted down by 11:00 pm However, neither of those things would discourage us from staying again.

The suite was clean, well kept and comfortable. The pool looked clean and well kept. Breakfast was basic plus (scrambled eggs, ham and potatoes, a pancake maker, oatmeal, and breads. there was also apples and bananas which were somehow both over and under-ripe). MY ISSUE COMES WITH TAKING A SHOWER! AMAZING, HOT, GOOD WATER PRESSURE... AND IN THE MIDST OF IT A VERY LOUD ALARM GOES OFF. Leaves me jumping out of the shower soaking wet trying to figure out what's going on. A call to the front desk, and they let me know that it is a known issue. Steam sets off the smoke detectors -- and they're not going to do anything about this God-aweful noise that makes you jump out of the shower. They just told me to keep the door shut when I shower. The next day, take shower with the door shut. Get out, open the door to get dressed -- same thing with the God-aweful noise, even with the shower not running. I bet you enough people take 3 am showers to make the neighbors around them complain and the hotel will figure something out to fix this issue!

Staff was so kind to my daughters as they had a late arrival after many flight delays and were exhausted. They kindly extended their checkout upon request as well as upgrading their room. I was so happy they took such good care of my girls!

I was in a suite and the curtain was torn, and the room was unclean. When I pulled the curtain back. There were shoes sitting in the window seal when I requested the room to be clean. It was not clean. Also, the control to the TV did not work and when I requested someone to come fix it, the staff said there was no one to help me, but I could come down to get the batteries myself and I was too tired to do that.

Easy check in and check out procedure. My incidental hold was only 20$ which was pretty cool to me. Breakfast was yummy and simple but keep in mind it is a hotel breakfast, not a 5 star restaurant. Area is secluded and quiet but close enough to freeway entrance. Room was clean and hotel was quiet! Would absolutely stay again!

The room was very comfortable and clean, the space was nice to return to at the end of the day. The breakfast in the morning was very generous and delicious. Literally 5 minutes to downtown Charleston. I would absolutely return to Sonesta ES Suites!

Other reviews complained about the location. Yes, it's a little "off the beaten path," but that's fine! It's two minutes off the highway and you can't hear any traffic! The property is spotless, and the bed is very comfortable. I don't like the pillows at all. Very good breakfast buffet. Potatoes are not worth trying, and the coffee is really terrible, but the rest is really good! Lots of choices - eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hot oatmeal, pancakes, packaged coffee cake and donuts, plus other little additions. We'll be staying here again on our next visit.

We like the expanded rooms that Sonesta provides, with separate bedroom and living areas. The rooms were clean and amply supplied, and the staff was helpful and pleasant. Dislikes: breakfast is only served until 8:30 am (!) and the offerings are limited compared to other hotels. Also, I was surprised that, for the price, the room did not supply the usual bathroom amenities - small bottles of body cream and shower cap, for instance, in addition to the usual shampoo and conditioner offerings.

Been to a lot of these breakfast- included hotels...and this breakfast was really much better than even more expensive hotels. Not a ton of options, but those they had were well-executed. Room was perfect for our needs - a family of 5 with one member who needs to be separated from the rest for sensory issues. 2 separate bedrooms/baths, plus shared middle space made this a perfect setup for our crew.
