Good value and location and superior staff (seriously good folks) but, dang, some of the small things that need attention: fire doors that actually shut, exterior security doors that actually shut and lock, better door dampeners so there isn't slamming all night, better wifi, and tv selections that actually make sense.

I liked staying here. It was very convenient. My daughter was attending Texas State University New Student orientation and the gentleman at the front desk was awesome ! He answered all my questions and even offered information on the area. He was a great help ! Thank you sir ! My only complaint was the pool was a light green although the lady did come out and treat but still I wouldn’t use it . Pillows are hard lol but I always bring my own . I will stay here again . Please clean the pool.

The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed. The hotel is near the highway for easy on/off. Even though it's near the highway, it's a quiet property. A few restaurants nearby were walkable. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only issue I had was the equipment in the fitness center wasn't working. I did a walk at a nearby park instead.

The hotel was nice and clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Disappointed with the gym as not all the equipment shown worked i.e., the stepper was not plugged thin and now sign of a cable to allow this to happen. This was reported early into our stay but was not addressed.

We had a 2 night stay but checked out after the first night. There was a lot of black mold all over the ceiling in the bathroom. There is no ventilation in the bathroom when showering. They didn’t have any other rooms available so the property manager said she would send the cleaning lady to clean the mold. I didn’t feel comfortable with that so I said no thank you and just got a refund on the 2nd night. I would not recommend staying here.

The hotel is older but the rooms are great. The room we were staying in had two large tvs, one in the bedroom and one in the "living room". That was the other thing tat was nice, the room was large enough for the living room area.

I’ve stayed here before and it’s fine. Our room this time smelled like soil - like dirt - so not “bad” per se but not fresh/clean either. The furniture is not in the best condition but it serves its purpose. The room and common areas are clean and the breakfast is excellent. Staff is welcoming and helpful. Security wise-I felt safe, but the side door from the parking lot is supposed to require room key access, however it doesn’t- it’s just open which is a security issue. It was also very humid and our room had a hard time keeping up - it was cool & the AC definitely worked, but it was not as cool as I would prefer.

The room seemed clean, but the a/c / heater had a musty "pee" smell. The beds were super uncomfortable, like sleeping on a concrete slab. The shower/bathtub and bathroom was very clean. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again, but if you are on a budget and you like a firm bed, its fine.

Hotel is in perfect location for doing everything in San Marcos. Its 5 mins away from downtown, outlet malls and the river. The furniture was a little beaten up in our room but the mattresses were very nice.

Encountered a flying cockroach. Couldn’t believe it bc I’ve stayed many times here and never experienced one. Next, the first night was a very hot one. Air conditioning was not working properly. However I did notify front desk and they had it fixed within the time frame I requested.

We left a different hotel because of the condition of the room and they couldn’t get us into another room. So we came to Wingate instead, everything was great the staff helped us with everything and we got to check in early without paying an extra fee like the other place charged us. The first room keys we got didn’t work so the front desk staff moved us to another room and did an excellent job of helping us. Definitely will stay here again next time we’re in San Marcos.

The staff and environment at Wingate were wonderful. I visited my son attending college and this hotel was close to his apartment. I had an easy time navigating to and from this location. There was plenty of parking. I would stay here again!

Really a “cut the corners” place. Even though our room was clean and available, in wanting to check in early, the hotel insisted on a $50 up charge to do so. Not a sign of regard for the customer. Without a doubt, the CHEAPEST breakfast ever. Low quality few choices. Room (we upgraded for a suite) was so poorly arranged. Seating in one room, television in yet another. This for a $400 two night stay. Never again Wyndham for these travelers. ☹️☹️

The staff was very accommodating. Kathy was the first person I talked to when I arrived and she was so friendly and nice. There were two other women I met at the reception but I did not get their names and they were very nice as well. The room was nice and I appreciated the very big screen tv along with the refrigerator and microwave. Everything was nice about the room and the hotel.

Staff were incredible! They were all accommodating and courteous. The manager went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. The property itself is scheduled for remodeling which is good as it’s beginning to show a little age. Nevertheless it was clean and quiet.

Room and accommodations were okay. Customer service was unsympathetic after telling them my vehicle had been broken into. Busted out window and stolen from. Very nonchalant in saying no after i asked about surveillance of parking lot. Very upsetting. Checked out day earlier and asked about comping room or offering refund told no.

Great customer service. Parking is great. You have your basic breakfast but staff is on top off it when something is running low. Great location from outlet, TXST, San Marcos River and many other attractions. Hotel is a little outdated but kept clean.

This hotel is an average, clean place to sleep. It is literally surrounded very closely by other hotels and fast food. The worst part was the heavy road construction on the I35 frontage road where this hotel is located. It made it very difficult to even locate the entrance to the hotel.

The free breakfast is good and well stocked . The coffee is really good and the front desk is very friendly and courteous. The mini fridge in the room had a loud noise coming from it and then would make even a louder noise when it stopped that keeps a light sleeper up all night. We were going to unplug it but couldn’t reach the outlet.

This was a nice hotel for the price. The room was clean with comfy bed and A/C. The bathroom had sliding door shower, which is kind of unusual, but worked out great. The hotel seems like it might be a few years older, but seems to have been well maintained. The free breakfast was above par (scrambled eggs, sausage, gravy, biscuits, waffle maker). There was quite a bit of construction in the area along with a pretty busy intersection, as the hotel is right off the freeway. We have stayed at a few hotels in San Marcos, because our daughter is attending Texas State, this is definitely one we will be staying at again. For the price, you can't beat it!
