Stayed 2 nights

My stay was disappointing, starting with the reservation. I had booked Friday and Saturday nights, but when the show I planned to attend on Friday was canceled, I asked to shorten my stay to Saturday night only. Hotels.com contacted the hotel on my behalf, but the hotel declined to refund the Friday night. We ended up arriving late Friday, even though we no longer needed to be in town that evening. I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility. The hotel itself was just okay. My biggest issue during the stay was the noise. The walls were thin enough that I could clearly hear the person next door talking on the phone and watching TV, which made it difficult to relax. Overall, an average hotel experience made worse by the noise and the disappointing handling of my reservation change.

Stayed 3 nights

Dead roach (about the size of a ping pong ball) belly-up just inside the door of my room. Broken toilet that stayed that way for three days while I'm reminding them of it all that time. Check-in confusion (which might have been my fault) with me showing up a day early and wanting to check out a day early. I thought four days' notice would be enough time to get it straightened out, but Expedia and Howard Johnson kept pointing the finger at each other, denying any responsibility, so I paid for an extra day in this hell-hole.
