What guests think

At MCM Elegante Suites Abilene, travellers consistently praise the generous made to order breakfast and family friendly atmosphere, while noting dated rooms and occasional maintenance or cleanliness issues, such as worn fixtures, musty smells, or air conditioning and plumbing hiccups.

Suites are spacious with separate living areas and comfortable beds, but decor and fixtures feel worn or outdated in multiple reviews. Guests appreciate the free happy hour, on site activities, and a convenient location near the mall and dining, though the pool or hot tub can run cool or feel crowded with children. Service is often described as friendly and accommodating, yet some report housekeeping lapses, key card problems, noise, or limited bar and restaurant hours. Overall, expect a lively, family focused stay with strong value and some age related trade offs.

Food was good in the restaurant. Very disappointed that bar/lounge closes at 10pm! Even on a Fri! One of the main reason I chose this Hotel over all the others, was because it had a bar. Arrived at Hotel at 9:30 PM Fri. Evening. Got my room, couldn't wait to go to lounge and have an adult beverage and some food after a long day of driving. Little did I know that when I got to the dining area to order Food and a Drink, they tell me bar is closing in 15 mins. And they are NO longer serving. I was like....What, Seriously? Wow....if I had known the bar area closed that early I would've definitely chose a different place to stay instead of paying a high rate for a 2* Hotel that claims to be 4*.

We stayed at the property for 5 days and highly enjoyed the free shuttles, the happy hour from 530-7, the pool tables, laundry facility, the hot tub and pool. Our room was cozy and clean. The staff was outstanding. My husband and I drive a big rig and they offer parking which is a bonus too. We will definitely be back.

The hotel was just amazing. All of the staff from top to bottom are extremely friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub were great. Free breakfast was good every day. The free happy hour every evening made the trip fun. My Suite was great with plenty of room to spread out and very comfortable bed.

This is a great place to stay. The pool and hot tub are great and the games were an added plus. Plenty of room for families to gather to enjoy food, drinks and pool tables as well. A large event area for kids to play when not in use. I would highly recommend and would if needed.

The kitchen area sink was backed up and not addressed while there. The cleaning service left a sign we had a Do Not Disturb sign up so they didn't clean - they did this two days in a row - we did NOT put up do not distrub signs and told the front desk both times. The front desk didn't seem to care. There was no bedding for the fold out couch. We were told it was in the room. We had to go back to front desk to get a set. The coffee pods were not replaced. We have stayed there many, many years and never had problems before this year.

Did like that the manager was rude. The ac in our room was not working was offered a fan. There was mold coming out of the air vent, going down the wall. I have picture. I tried getting a refund it took calling expedia several times and speaking to the manager twice before she agreed to do a refund. There were no other rooms in the hotel to move. The maintenance guy came offered box fan and said should cool off more later in the evening. Sitting in hotel room sweating was unacceptable and was the mold.

I have been coming here since I was a kid, so roughly 20 years. It’s always a great stay with friendly staff and great amenities. My only complaint is the condition of the room was not perfect. The floors are starting to age severely and the bathtub/shower needs to be scrubbed. All other areas were great as usual and the staff has really made improvements on keeping the entire hotel a quiet and safe place for families.

Superficially the place seemed like it was very nice for the price. Unfortunately, it turned out to be overpriced. Room smelled like week old burger grease, TV volume was barely audible on max volume, ants and other bugs in room and the sheets had what appeared to be make-up stains.

We have stayed here several times over the years. Friendly free cocktails and breakfast in funky environment and furniture. Sadly this time we found the bed not changed and truly gross, yet it put together on top as if it were clean. Much of the room was similarly dirty. Mgmt first wanted to change sheets but then moved us to a renovated room.

We booked June 4th-7th. We actually checked out the 6th by noon due to the room being so warm. It seemed like the AC did not actually kick on until 2-3 in the morning and the fan just circulated air. The hotel is dated but very beautiful. When we got to our room there was a very musty smell. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had a friend that stayed in the hotel as well and experienced the same warm room. It didn’t matter what you set the temperature on it never cooled off. We bought fans to help stay cool but we definitely could not bear another night.

I was so angry about my check in. I arrived exhausted only because of the storm and asked for my room. I was told it was not ready and told to call to check. I called three times every hour while I sat in my car waiting. At 4 I went back and saw Tina at desk. She saw me and left. Susan the manager left. The male who checked me in said oh no, I’m sorry your room was ready two hours ago! These women are horrible. Totally lied. I wasted three hours today and am still furious. It’s loud poorly constructed hotel. No sound barrier to highway when I specifically asked for and paid for a quiet room. Do not stay here!

I’m not sure if this is her real name or not but Chloe at the front desk was extremely rude upon check in when we stayed here. She even put her hand on her hip, did the little sassy head wag and yelled to another employee to come help me because I was saying she was rude. I had to ask her why she was being so rude to me for literally no reason at all. Her response was that she wasn’t being rude. Then the other employee came and said oh I can garaunee she wasn’t trying to be rude. Wow! Are you serious?! Where’s the customer service? This place has really gone down hill. There was only one outlet in the entire bedroom that wasn’t already being used by the lamps etc, and that outlet was by the sink, for a blow dryer I imagine. It needs updated and to be renovated. The two stars they earned are because the employees at the breakfast buffet were 5 star employees that provided exceptional service! Awesome job breakfast crew!

This was a nice place to stay when visiting our kids at ACU on a busy weekend. The campus is only 15 minutes away. Staff were excellent. The property is a bit dated. Another reviewer said it reminded them of a renovated Holidome, and I would second that opinion. We had a slight hiccup with an odor coming into our room through the ventilation and the staff were super responsive at addressing it, and got it resolved without any issues. Having two kids at ACU, we have stayed at most of the other hotels in Abilene, and we will most likely return to this one again. We enjoyed the atrium and the happy hour.
