We only stayed one night and overall had a pretty rough stay. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived. When our teen daughter used the shower water poured through the baseboards into the hotel room and onto our luggage and shoes. Their maintenance guy came and just offered extra towels. I can’t imagine the water damage/mold this room has if this happens regularly. We couldn’t use the shower for the rest of our time there. No compensation was offered even though we couldn’t use the shower. Also we valeted the rental car and got there pretty major door dings. I have pics from the day we picked up the car, we went straight to the hotel and now we have damage to the car. Ugh. Oh and we paid $51 to valet for one night. Frustrating to say the least. The hotel itself is pretty and well decorated and has a nice location. But I’m pretty shocked by the lack of service and care we received.

Upon check in I was delighted with the hotel. After entering my room, Everything was disappointing from there on and I am so upset I just spent that kind of money on this hotel. I am happy to submit the view from our hotel room which was awful, the shower didn’t work and it remained 75 degrees the entire time in the room. All of that was fine and I kept quiet however, upon check out, I kindly asked as a Bonvoy member if they would be as to kindly allow me a 1pm check out as our flight was delayed from the snow up north. I was given until 12 and told I just return my key to the desk as if I was not trusted. One hour for my time and money seemed like an easy ask but the women at the front desk could not afford me that opportunity. Really a bad name for a Marriott property and something I have never experienced. We went out to find another hotel as our flight was cancelled and decided to give our money to a different hotel with the kindness and appreciation. Ps parking is $46 a day- more than my rental car

Stayed three nights. Staff was very friendly. Loved proximity to downtown and all the amenities around. Pool is small but filled it’s need for the kid. Almost no water pressure in shower but that’s minor.

I see many petty complaints, but as a person who travels a lot this hotel was great! From the time i checked in until departure I could have not asked for better service. The only con through this whole trip was the pool area. I wanted a day of relaxing and the pool area is in need of an update from cushions on the loungers to the mold in the corners of the caulking around the pool. Lot of rust stains . The pool itself is small but still great for a quick dip!

Nice sized rooms, clean, and extremely friendly staff. It is located a block from the main tourist area and it is quiet. We didn't hear any noise from traffic, visitors, or guests. It feels secluded even though it is a block away. The valets and bellmen are really nice and courteous.

Our stay at the Lindy was less than optimal to say the least. Definitely not what you would expect from a Marriott and a $400/night hotel room. From the first night of arrival, the room smelled so bad from the chemicals that they use to clean it, that it affected our breathing. Secondly, if you are looking to get any rest, the rooms are so loud. You hear every door in the hallway that opens and shuts. There is no way to get any peaceful rest, In addition the housekeeping was awful. We specifically requested someone to clean our room and they came in and made the bed like a child would have with the sheets hanging off the side and the duvet cover completely missing. They didn’t bother to pick up any of our dirty dishes, or empty our trash we brought, all of these issues to the attention of the manager, and also had them look at the room the way it was left. The only caveat of our experience was that the manager did apologize and gave us some perks for our inconvenience.. One other important thing to note is that there is also construction going on all around the perimeter of the Hotel. So also be prepared to hear banging from the construction as well as slamming of all the hallway doors. Our air condition handler cover was also dismantled from the wall so every time the AC would turn on it would sound like a slamming of a door. The only positive is that the location of the hotel was good. Also, if you want to get a cocktail, you have to wait until 4 PM for the bar to open.

Hotel is dated. Dark rooms and halls. Terrible showers. No full length mirror in my room. Balcony was filthy and unusable. Very, very small room. Too small for a nightstand on both sides of the bed. Could only get into one side of the bed. Staff are WONDERFUL. I rented two rooms and they were subpar. The room was booked for $400 per night for Tuesday night and doubled in price to $800 for Friday night. We checked out early.

Likes: Exceptional location to explore downtown Charleston without a car. Walking distance to some terrific restaurants & bars such as Peninsula Grill, Le Farfalle, Charleston Place Hotel and more. Front desk & valet staff are very engaging and supportive. The valet text link shows the time it's taking to deliver your car - and it's a pretty short time. Dislikes: mold in the shower (we had 2 rooms, both showers were moldy) which is descriptive of pretty much every Marriott property I've visited over the past year (10 properties). A single (disappointing) restaurant/bar - especially compared to Charleston Place or Planters Inn hotels, each with outstanding restaurant & bar choices. Be aware - downtown Charleston hotels are not known for views. If you stay at the Renaissance, request a room facing the front entry. I rate this 3 overall, because it's a pricey stay, around $500/night for room fees parking. We didn't experience any services that distinguished the property from a Courtyard, other than location. For $500/night, it's average in my opinion.

We loved the location. Very convenient for walking to restaurants, the SC aquarium, and the Battery. A couple of minor downsides - the sheer in our window was torn and our duvet had a tear. Also, noisy work was nearby, which set off a fire alarm one day and smelled of metal grinding in the elevator and the lobby.

Amazing location and the customer service was top-notch. The rooms are spacious with modern decor. We never used our car and walked everywhere. We would definitely stay here again.

Pros: the location is excellent. the front desk and maintenance staff members are also friendly and helpful! Cons: our cleaning staff member was a bit rude; also very late and often threw out hotel provided supplies but then forgets to re-supply them. We stayed during cold front (low-mid 40s), and the heating was inadequate. Lastly, the windows don’t open so expect a lot of ambient noises from circulation vents in every room. Wouldn’t recommend for light sleepers.

I felt that it was in a good location. Easy walk to shops and restaurant, but tucked away. The staff was incredibly friendly. Beds and pillows were comfy and room was clean. My only complaint is that the hotel was loud, walls seemed to be paper thin.

Really a bad name for a Marriott property and something I have never experienced. We went out to find another hotel as our flight was cancelled and decided to give our money to a different hotel with the kindness and appreciation. Ps parking is $46 a day- more than my rental car

So, we actually had a lovely one-night stay at this property but our experience shows how one simple staff interaction can impact the overall impression, good or bad. My son and I checked in and were warmly welcomed by two lovely front desk staffers. They were friendly, helpful and funny and it was great. Our room was nice and the location fantastic. The next morning I went to the desk to enquire if it might be possible to stay for one more night. My experience couldn't have been more different. Almost like it was a different hotel. They were rude and dismissive even before I got the question out of my mouth. I thanked them anyway and when it was time to actually leave, I went back to simply drop my key and there was only one person there this time - she didn't even look at me and simply flicked her nail at the key drop box without a word. Not a 'hope you had a nice stay' or a 'safe travels' or a 'goodbye'. A nail flick. I wished her a good day with a smile and left. To be clear: for this I paid almost $1,000 Canadian dollars plus $50/parking and plus breakfast. For $1,000 I expect eye contact, manners and actual words. They could even have pretended to check the computer for an available room. But no. So that's why I hesitated before leaving this review and waited more than a month before doing so. Everything was great except for the woman who checked us in at the front desk, she has quite a bit of attitude. When asking her questions she was snippy. It started our trip off on a bad foot. It happened to four of us on separate occasions. We all had different rooms.

My wife and I had stayed here a few years ago when it was a different name so I booked not realizing it was the same place. Great location, comfortable rooms, and quiet. The staff is friendly and we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend to just get out and try the several options of dining nearby.

Great location. Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. The hotel stay includes certain amenities that we weren’t made aware of at check in such as 2 protein balls each morning and 2 passes to museums. We thought we reserved a balcony room and was told we’d get one but it wasn’t available at check in. Overall great place and would definitely stay here again.

Likes: Exceptional location to explore downtown Charleston without a car. Walking distance to some terrific restaurants & bars such as Peninsula Grill, Le Farfalle, Charleston Place Hotel and more. Dislikes: mold in the shower (we had 2 rooms, both showers were moldy) which is descriptive of pretty much every Marriott property I've visited over the past year (10 properties). This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It is so chic, beautifully decorated, and smells amazing. The room was spacious. Great bathroom. Beds super comfy. I loved everything about this place. The location is perfect. We walked everywhere and close to everything. The restaurant, Lenoir, on site was amazing. RSVP there as soon as you make hotel reservations. Will definitely stay here if I visit Charleston again.

Our stay at the Lindy was less than optimal to say the least. Definitely not what you would expect from a Marriott and a $400/night hotel room. From the first night of arrival, the room smelled so bad from the chemicals that they use to clean it, that it affected our breathing. Secondly, if you are looking to get any rest, the rooms are so loud. You hear every door in the hallway that opens and shuts. There is no way to get any peaceful rest, In addition the housekeeping was awful. We specifically requested someone to clean our room and they came in and made the bed like a child would have with the sheets hanging off the side and the duvet cover completely missing. They didn’t bother to pick up any of our dirty dishes, or empty our trash we brought, all of these issues to the attention of the manager, and also had them look at the room the way it was left. The only caveat of our experience was that the manager did apologize and gave us some perks for our inconvenience.. One other important thing to note is that there is also construction going on all around the perimeter of the Hotel. So also be prepared to hear banging from the construction as well as slamming of all the hallway doors. Our air condition handler cover was also dismantled from the wall so every time the AC would turn on it would sound like a slamming of a door. The only positive is that the location of the hotel was good. Also, if you want to get a cocktail, you have to wait until 4 PM for the bar to open.

We stayed here for a girls’ weekend and had a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was pretty and well located, and the restaurant (Lenoir) was delicious with lots of GF options. The only bummer was the pool being closed. Definitely would stay again!
