What guests think

At avid hotel Harrisburg NE - Hershey Area by IHG, guests frequently note a newer, modern property with generally clean rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly staff, plus a convenient location for Hersheypark visits and quick access to area highways.

However, many reviews mention significant noise transfer through thin walls and ceilings, with some street or hallway noise as well. Breakfast is included and often appreciated, but several guests found the selection limited, the area crowded, or items not replenished. A subset reported early-stage maintenance issues like shower doors not closing, lukewarm or low-pressure showers, and occasional pool concerns such as strong chlorine, cooler water, or temporary closure. Overall, it suits short, value-focused stays near Hershey if you can tolerate some noise and minor kinks.

Front desk was so nice ,he let us check in early. Con : had cubbies no dresser or closet. Bed comfortable. We did see two centipeds one in shower and one crawiling on wall. But other than that very clean and quite. No microwave in room but can use one in lobby. Breakfast area is nice but they can mix it up stayed two days and they had same. Eggs , potatoes, crumbled bacon. But overall price we paid for our stay was no disappointing. Close to Hersheypark also which was nice and convenient.

Poorly constructed hotel overall with plenty of issues. Poor ventilation in pool area causing mold growth overhead. First room we were given had ants on the floor in between beds. Walls and doors do not block out noise. If you stay here, request to stay on the top floor. Breakfast struggled to stay stocked in the morning. Shower door in bathroom would not close all the way, water for shower was warm. Bathroom needs caulking redone. There are no microwaves in the rooms. The reason avid hotels are cheaper in price is because they hire cheaper construction companies to build their hotels. Thus, poor construction yields a lot of early problems with their facilities. Pretty bad for a hotel less than a year old. Go elsewhere.

Went here for a girls trip this weekend to see a concert at Hershey stadium. The hotel was conveniently located and it was very clean!! My only complaint is that we got there closer to 1:30 pm instead of 3 pm and were unable to check in early. However we were permitted to use the pool while we waited for check in which was nice. And no one else was there so we had the whole pool to ourselves while we waited. I recommend this hotel. Perfect for a girls weekend, family getaway etc. if you are doing a concert or something else in the Hershey area.

The outside was kept poorly. Trash overflowing, weeds growing in rocks, trash everywhere. There were drugs deals in the back lot. We stayed in room 105 and the outside door banged ever few minutes, ppl arguing in the parking lot outside our room. The smell of weed permeated the hall, too much salt and chlorine in the pool.

When we got there it was my Family and my parents they stayed in another room(which nothing in theirs). We had potato bugs everywhere dead and dust all over the floor. I didn’t say anything because they are harmless but I did have to kill them our entire stay and they were in the pool and around the pool area. You can hear everything in the room sounded like the people above us had a whole family and were just living upstairs and it went on for hours. Like I said we didn’t say anything we just aren’t those kind of people. Don’t waste your time go somewhere else for breakfast there isn’t much. Be careful when swimming there is so much chlorine in the pool my husband’s eyes burned for hours after. You smell the chlorine as soon as you walk in and throughout the halls. The hotel has been opened for only a few months so far so hopefully they can get these little things fixed because it could be a nice hotel.

The hotel was great. Front desk was nice and fast. The pool was clean and my daughter loved cooling off after a day of Hershey. It was only about 10 minutes from Hershey. Room was clean, modern and quiet. Breakfast in the morning was good with a good variety of eggs, cereal, potatoes, muffins, turkey sausage and fruit. We had a great time and will definitely stay again next time we go to Hershey

The shower was gross and the shower head was detached from the wall…. The room felt damp when we arrived. The pool was closed for two of our three nights due to “maintenance.” And the elevator broke during our stay so we had to take the stairs. Overall very unsatisfied with our stay….

First room was dirty we were moved to another room that had a dirty bathroom there was hair in the shower a used bar of soap and the shower door did not close causing water to soak the towels we had to use on the floor. Guest services were Excellent and informative on everything around the hotel as well as the area and were very polite and helpful when we needed extra towels.

I will start off by saying that the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately when we got to our room. The floor was dirty. It had a smell of stale food. There was leftover food in the refrigerator and an open container of soap in the shower. we were extremely disappointed that being said they did give us a new room, but no type of compensation.

The property is located close to Hershey park, it is new, and the staff was friendly. However, our bathroom was not clean very well as we saw splatter o the mirror and hairs on the bathroom floor and shower floor. We mentioned this kindly to the front desk in the morning and it was never managed as we noticed the same mess when we returned late that evening. This lead me to wonder if other parts of our room cleaning was neglected. The property being new is it's saving grace, I hope that they maintain it well and are more diligent with there cleaning.

Property is new. Staff were nice. Property was clean. Room was small. No microwave, that was a big inconvenience. Fridge was in a cubicle on the floor. Breakfast was ok, better than continental. Bacon bits instead of strips. Walls are cardboard thin. No carpet in rooms. If the occupants above drop something, you can hear it. You could hear people talking. Dove products in the bathroom, really appreciated that. 1 set of elevators. Far walk to your room. Unless you ask for a room closer. In a pinch, if there's no other options I would stay. Otherwise I'll pass. Just not for me. Overall a good day for others who don't mind.

We stayed in one of the rooms on the first floor and unfortunately the guest right above us were up all night and so we could hear them walking all night long. We arrived at 3pm and shortly after arrival the pounding on there ceiling was continuous, I thought maybe there was a fight then later a ball, then stomping. Later the yelling of preteen children was just ridiculous. I complain 3 times with no success, then at 9:30pm I yelled at the kids to stop this nonsense with no success. I went to the office again and complained with no success. I then received phone call from one of the kids harassing me and I again reported this to the manager. He said what room was it dialed from, I said I don't know, still no success from the management. Finally at 9:45pm my elderly wife and I packed everything up and loaded the car to leave and I went to the desk again and gave the card keys back and wanted a refund and the $25 safely refund. He said to call Travelocity for the room refund and the $25 will be3e refunded tomorrow morning. This was an unbearable room rental adjust a terrible place. IU am elderly with many medical conditions and decided to drive home all night approximately 400 miles to get away from this place. I arrived home at 4:00am and both my wife and I were quite ill and feeling terrible. I want the room refund from Travelocity NOW and maybe compensation for recommending this horrible place!!!

Property is about 10 to 16 min drive to Hershey theme park. We had a three night stay. while the room was clean when we arrived the next day the room was not serviced. On the second day I asked the front desk to empty the garbage and provide new towels since it wasn’t done the day before. They did just that. Bed still not done and garbage left in the sink. Breakfast is very limited. Yogurt, eggs, bacon crumble, tater tots, two choices of cereal and oat meal with some toppings. Breakfast is served from 6:30am to 9:30am. If you are not an early bird don’t expect to have much to choose from.
