What guests think

At Holiday Inn Battle Creek by IHG, travelers consistently praise the friendly staff and clean rooms, alongside a convenient location near shopping and I 94, while noting dated public areas and recurring issues with the pool and one elevator.

Room comfort varies, with reports of worn hallway carpets, low water pressure, leaky or slippery showers, loud HVAC, and occasional noise from other guests. Other facility notes include sporadic closures or outages for amenities and equipment like the gym, business center printer, and vending machines, plus a cashless policy and a $50 incidental hold that surprised some. Dining feedback is mixed: while a few praised breakfast service, many disliked the lack of complimentary breakfast, extra fees, limited quality, or unexpected closures. Overall, expect a convenient base, but verify amenity status and breakfast arrangements.

Wasn't happy that breakfast wasn't included. Also the pool was closed, and we were not made aware of it. Also, one elevator was out if order and the printer in the business center was out of order. Maintenance seems to be an issue here.

Overall not an enjoyable stay. 1. Of the two elevators they have onsite, only one was functional. 2. Japanese beetle infestation coming through wall 3. Pool out of service (No mention although we booked months in advance) 4. Everytime heat kicked on it had an old smell like it needed a new filter. 5. Towel rack is inside shower, what a dumb idea. You will need to remove all the towels and place on counter or they all get wet from water splashing. 6. Vending machine empty 7. Room phone does not connect to anything. Useless. 8. Burnt out lightbulb in nightstand.

The hotel location is very convenient to the I-94 and all shopping centers. However, we were very disappointed with the hotel. The pool was out of order, one of the elevator's were out of order, the carpet in the hallways were taped together and there was water damage on the ceiling of our room. The staff were friendly and helpful, but we did not get a discount on our room for the pool being out of order. Which was very disappointing since our two children were excited about swimming after dealing with a long cold winter in Michigan. We will defiantly be staying somewhere else next time we visit Battle Creek.

Hotel itself was ok! Staff was nice and accommodating! My only beef was it was really dated in the room we were in! There was not a single USP jack in the entire room! I even tried plugging into the back of the TV. I had to run back to my vehicle to get a charging box to charge our electronics! We opted out of breakfast because it was an extra fee, other HIE we have stayed at had free breakfast in the am!

You might want to invest in some quality chairs for the desk. The chair in my room was in such bad shape I thought i was going to fall through it. Also consider more programming for the television. There was not much of a variety. A the $50.00 security for damage is sending the wrong message don’t you think?

The area was nice. The hotel itself appeared modern and kept up from the outside. The interior was dated. Some reviews indicated there had been updates but I only witnessed partial updates. Our bathroom vanity and bedding appeared to be updated but none of the rest of the room. My biggest complaint was the shower! The shower head dripped nonstop and thankful for the AC running most of the night so I couldn’t hear the dripping. And the floor of the shower was stained a dirty gray/brown…we wore flip flops to shower! The carpet in our room had many stains as well. Thankfully we didn’t spend much time in our room and it was just a place to sleep. Breakfast in restaurant was just ok and coffee very weak and warm not hot. For the rate we paid, I expected better. I won’t be back.

The staff gave out keys to someone checking in to our room. Thankfully our safety lock was closed so they didn’t make it in. A hour prior to that our daughter was in there watching tv while we were on patio with other parents. Thankfully the person didn’t check in before we returned to our room. The staff apologized but offered nothing but a apology and really didn’t seem very concerned with the situation.
