What guests think

Reviews of Extended Stay America Suites - St Louis - Westport - Central portray a basic budget stay highlighted by friendly staff and some clean, spacious rooms, but overall experiences vary widely depending on expectations, timing, and the specific room assigned.

Multiple guests report pests (roaches, ants, possible bedbugs), lingering smoke or urine smells, and inconsistent housekeeping. Facilities feel limited, with a very sparse grab and go breakfast, no ice machines, worn or noisy elevators, and missing in room items unless requested, while front desk availability can be unreliable late at night. Property in poor condition. One elevator broken with permanent out of order sign affixed. No ice machine. Breakfast skimpy ( no yogurt, water, fresh coffee). Group of younger smokers hanging out at front door. Property needs some management attention.

For a quick 1 night stay before surgery it was fine. However, one elevator didn’t work. The other elevator made noise like it was about to break down. The shower faucet was placed on backwards. We didn't think we had hot water at first. You had to turn it to cold for the hot.

I’m surprised that there is no water foundation in the building. Also, vending machine isn’t working and it’s difficult to find someone at the front desk for questions.

The hotel was clean and serviceable. No frills. Was informed at registration that there was no ice machine. Room was clean but lacked coffee maker, hair blow dryer, and any glasses or plates. Strange for an extended stay hotel. Breakfast consisted of coffee, granola bars, and instant oat meal. Definitely not worth the price if the rate quoted. Yet it was clean and safe.

Stayed for 2 nights, i can’t complain for the price. the room is tad bit outdated, originally our room door would not lock when we left the room, we had it fixed while we where out, very helpful in that situation and overall, the elevators make some questionable noises and feels a bit off, nothing happened though, did make me question if it was safe. there’s no smoking in the building but i definitely smelled a few things while walking by some rooms,

We were not expecting a 5 star but, at $152 a night at least expected a normal but older hotel. Everything was really run down and worn out. The kitchen had no dishes 1 dishtowel & nothing else, they required you to go to the front desk and request Dishes, coffee pot, silverware, cookware etc,,and take them to your room (due to covid). They put out the Coffee, Cereal bars and muffin packets at 6 am, and no one checks on it until 8am. The hot water in the room was not working and when I was standing at the front desk to discuss it. The desk person was sitting in the chair behind me and made himself scarce, until his replacement showed up ..I did see him walking with a friend, when I went for a walk, because "the Newley renovated Gym" which consisted of a few cardio machines. They did not work due to the emergency keys missing and even the TV remote was missing, and that was one of their selling points..Newley renovated gym. We had to pay more to have a room with a double bed, and I could guess why they charge per bed, also you had to bring your towels to the front desk to have them exchanged. We would have left right away, if it was not for travel exhaustion.

A breakfast of make it yourself oatmeal, granola bars, and muffins isn’t really a breakfast. My wife woke up with bug bites all over after 1 night. The room was suitable but the fridge would not cool down very well and the kitchen in general was really dated. There was black mold growing under the sink which we purchased spray to remove in order to store things. Where we were located, the internet was very poor. The wifi barely reached and we had to pay for the premium internet since we both work from home. We also left with bites on our legs, arms, and midsection. We looked and didn't see bed bugs but something definitely ate us alive. There was at least one night when no one was available at reception. We made numerous trips to the front desk and called many times with no answer. There was an altercation outside of our room where someone was threatened with a gun. It was frightening and resulted in 5 police officers. The hotel reacted quickly to this issue but it was very alarming. It also appears that there are a few people who live out of their car in the adjoining parking lot. I will not stay at this location in the future.

The front desk man when I got there was lovely, he was the sweetest older man. The only problems I had was the room keys never worked like at all even when they weren’t by electronics. Then I got locked out of my room at 1 am because the key cards wouldn’t work again. Having no night attendant is fine if the key cards would actually work though, it was a pain to call someone then they had to page the people to come down from another floor which she was fast and really nice thankfully. The whole hotel needs an update bad. The room was alright, the air conditioner made a horrible sound when turning on though, and the appliances seem so old. The bed was really uncomfortable also. Other then that it was a normal stay , usually do it once a year and I come back because of price ( even though it went up $40 from a few months ago ) and it’s nice and quiet. If hotel would get updated and the doors get updated and rooms then it would have been a very lovely stay.

Great, helpful staff, that will check you in fast (important to me since I work overnight traveling between STL and KC and back for my job, and Im exhausted by the time I get a room. Also easy to extend your stay for a day or two if you decide to. Clean rooms - clean sheets, clean beds, clean bathrooms. Large fridge, microwave, pretty much a full kitchen if youre staying for weeks. One of the best options in the STL area.

This property was very clean, and smelled great. My stay was great. My ONLY problem I had was after coming in at 2am and my card did not work to my door, and there was not a soul to help assist me. I called a officer to help, and he did the best he can. After deciding not to just sleep in my car, I decided to go to another hotel to stay because I was locked out of my paid hotel room. It was a very horrible inconvenience. Because of this, I will never return.

Room was reasonably priced. I thought the room was spacious and seemed to be nicely cleaned, even the air vents had been cleaned. The staff was friendly and attentive. Improvement would be an ice machine in facility. Being quiet would have been inforced. I was woke up before 5 am from a man talking in the hallway, near the front desk. The continental breakfast was pretty bad. The single served muffins were very dry and tasted as if they were outdated. Fruit or yogurt would have been nice. The only drinks that I saw was coffee or hot chocolate. Juice or milk would be nice. In all honesty, the motel was clean, but I believe I will pay a little more next time for extras I'm use to. If these extras don't matter to you, then don’t hesitate to stay. One of the cleanest rooms I've been it, and that is why I gave this a 4 star.
