Several appreciate the attached bowling alley and bar/grill as a convenient extra. Common drawbacks include occasionally loud AC or heater units, occasional noise from the bowling alley, and minor bathroom fit-and-finish issues. Expect a simple, well-kept stay with welcoming service and good value.

The room was very clean. The AC was loud and there were some minor repairs needed (towel racks hanging on loosely), but all in all the room met our needs. We also had a late night snack at the little bar/grill attached to the motel which also worked nicely--no fighting football crowds and literally walked out the door and over to our room.

We had a wonderful stay this past PSU parents' weekend at the Northland Motel. The motel is a hidden gem. It has clean, updated rooms and very comfortable beds. Most importantly, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful (Michael and Pam!) and really made the stay so nice. The motel is attached to a very fun bowling alley, and we had some fun family time there as well. We will definitely stay again.

Rarely will you ever find a cleaner & upgraded motel than this one. Lady at check in was super nice. You could tell the room was very clean. Would definitely do again. Excellent value. Got free water and chocolate mints. Free shoe rental with bowling alley next door yet you can’t hear any noise. Gem 💎 of a motel. Felt safe.

If you're looking for a wonderful and clean place to stay, Northland Motel is for you! There's no bells and whistles (pool or gym area), but there is an amazing bowling alley literally attached to the motel! The room was cute, very clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. I could recommend them anymore. We'll definitely be staying again!! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Had a wonderful stay for the price. Very clean, well kept and well appointed room. Water and candy awaited and a red bow on each door for the holiday was a nice touch. Beds were very comfortable which my bad back appreciated. The only downside was the heater fan ran rather loudly. Could have just been the unit in my room. Would love to stay there again if the heater noise wasn't an issue.

The staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating!!! Updated, clean and super cute!!! All of our travels over the last couple of years, no one ever gives fresh towels or empties the garbage. How AMAZING to come back at night and this was done. You could feel that the staff takes pride in their motel. We will stay with them again for sure!!!

This was an affordable motel close to Penn State. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. The only odd part about it is it's built adjacent to a bowling alley. You could hear the bowling balls rolling and the pins falling. But I honestly didn't mind it; it was incredibly soothing and I fell asleep quickly every night. Like the sounds of a summer storm. I was also told the food at the Bowling Alley was excellent, but didn't get a chance to try it.

I have been to many motels in the past but this one was one of the best motels that I have stayed in. Very clean and up to date furnishings. It was a great overnight experience. ONE critique that I have is that they did not have an iron or ironing board in our room. Overall great place to stay.

Stop looking elsewhere! This motel is a hidden gem! Clean, modern, comfy beds, hairdryer, water and chocolates await you at check in. Nice size fridge and microwave in each room.As a life long ( now retired) business traveler Id take this motel over the big box hotels! Affordable near Penn State. It's attached to a bowling alley which is additional entertainment. It's obvious the owner has taken GREAT pride in their establishment! So look no further.

Budge hotel wise, it’s hard to beat this hotel. Clean, decent sized room and comfortable beds. Convenient and safe location. Little things like pieces of chocolates on your nightstand show how they care for you. I would give this place a 5 star. But since it is lumped with other hotels, for a basic budget hotel, a 4 star is quite remarkable.

It’s a nice place to stay. The bar has really good pub fare and the staff could not be nicer.

A very clean and tidy motel. Conveniently located to Beaver Stadium. Highly recommend. Love the Rice Krispie treats with “We are Penn State” written on them which welcome you when you arrive in your room.

Staff was great! Location with grill and bar attached, great! Room electrical was a little funky. Light switch at the doorway and bedside didn't function, but floor lamp, bathroom entry lights and AC/heat functioned WELL. I would stay again!

The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable and clean. The area has virtually no food choices, so plan for that. I ended up getting food delivered.

Room was clean, beds were comfortable, check in was great. Very friendly staff. Bathroom door needed a little repair. Wood had been broken off in frame and screws in hinge were very loose, so door wouldn’t shut completely unless lifted. Other than that, great stay and would stay there again.
