What guests think

Reviews of avid hotel Van Horn highlight very clean, modern rooms and generally friendly staff, with convenient access to I-10 and a grab-and-go breakfast that many find handy for road trips.

Several guests report noise from the highway and thin walls, so light sleepers may want rooms away from the road. Rooms are minimalist with comfortable beds, but many miss in-room coffee makers, microwaves, or cups, and some encountered TV or bathroom light quirks. Dining options in town are limited, and some stays noted low water pressure, occasional elevator outages, or inconsistent maintenance. Expect a practical stopover with limited frills.

Hotel is newer. Rooms are decent for the price. Linens are typical hotel issue percale, but clean. The bed is bouncy and a little soft, so if that level of firmness bothers you, then you're at least warned. There is a pet relief area on the southwest corner of the property, which was handy for our pups. If you decide to buy anything from the market, bring your card. They do not accept cash. Overall, it was a nice place to crash after a long day of driving. I would stay here again if we drive through Van Horn again.

This is a new property. The elevator wasn’t working and there were some dead bugs in the corner of the room plus giant gouges in the bathroom door. It’s a quiet place to stay if you’re driving through west Texas. I would recommend it. I appreciated that the breakfast foods were prepackaged to go. This really helped us continue our drive. The parking is plentiful. Lots of places to sit in the lobby.

There was a smell inside the hotel that kind of get to you and over time it became distressing also there was a water outage that is understandable when is out of the control of the management but the hotel at least should provide a bottle of water to guests for basic hygiene needs but instead selling them for a profit.

We only stayed there because the website said there was a grocery store 3 minutes away. When we arrived we found that it was permanently closed. Would’ve chosen a cheaper place to stay if we knew this as there is nothing in walking distance except a McDonald’s and gas station. Room was nice and clean but the TV stopped working, the phone in the room didn’t work, no ice, some of the charging docks didn’t work. Comfy bed, good breakfast although seems overpriced
