What guests think

Hotel Casino Morelia earns strong reviews for its unbeatable central location by the cathedral, generally clean rooms, friendly staff, and an on-site restaurant many guests love, making it a convenient base for walking, dining, and sightseeing in Morelia.

However, many reviews note that rooms often lack air conditioning and can feel hot or stuffy, and noise from the plaza, nearby venues, or internal areas can disrupt sleep, especially in balcony or lobby-adjacent rooms. Parking is off-site several blocks away with no valet and key drop required, and there are occasional elevator outages and a very limited fitness room. Some guests found the included breakfast very basic or confusing and a few rooms small or dated. Expect a central, characterful stay best for travelers prioritizing location over quiet or extensive amenities.

It’s an old hotel that’s undergoing renovation. The lift was not working and the gym really cannot be called a gym - one stationary bike and one treadmill that was not working.

The property has an excellent location, right in the Centro Historico. You cannot beat it. The hotel itself is great, clean, comfortable, quiet. The only inconvenience is that the parking is about 3 blocks away and you do not have acess to it 24/7. They do have time restrictions. Otherwise, excellent location to stay at.

Classic hotel in downtown, clean and nice. This second time I were there, room was ok and bigger than the first one week before, but distribution design of the spaces is not accurate to use. There is an empty space not used, and the entrance is quite narrow and closet doors need be close to open main door. Bathroom it’s ok, but again door is not well design because open to the inside and you need to open max to 90 degrees, move into the corner between lavatory and shower, close the door and then use the bathroom. If the door open otherwise, will be easy to get in. Up to the lavatory is a useful shelf but, if you need to wash your face, you need to avoid that.

Overall it was fine. The location is super convenient for dining and seeing all the sights of Centro Morelia. The staff were very helpful. Our room was just okay. Quite small and no A/C but they had a couple vertical fans that helped immensely although quite noisy. Our room was not facing the main street meaning zero view of the cathedral or anything else. This may however been a blessing as the main street is quite noisy/busy with traffic as well as all of the restaurants located along the bottom of the hotel. The room was clean upon arrival and the daily cleaning service was excellent. Really nice hot water shower. The "fitness room" was a joke consisting of one treadmill and one stationary bike. Both looked beat up and I'm not sure if they even worked as I didn’t bother once I saw the "fitness" room. The parking was "free" but annoying. A few blocks off site and generally packed day and night. You need to leave your keys at the parking place as they frequently need to move vehicles around. The second night we didn't even bother using it and paid for parking closer, where we had our own spot for the car and our keys. Personally I have stayed at better hotels in Centro Morelia for around the same price. Nothing really wrong with it but I won't stay there again.

Service could be way better! People at front do not greet upon arrival :( They don’t give clear directions, don’t offer to help with luggage, they don’t have valet parking and parking lot it’s sort of far from the hotel. They don’t explain at check in that the front door closes at night, luckily there’s someone at the front desk all the time! Overall it’s a great location, maintenance of the building it’s outstanding, great work at keeping the colonial architecture!
