What guests think

Reviews of Comfort Inn Rutland - Killington describe friendly, accommodating staff and a convenient base for skiing and nearby dining, but also an older property with noticeable wear, musty odors at times, and housekeeping that is limited or requires requests.

Rooms are generally comfortable with basic amenities, though many note dated decor, small bathrooms, and occasional noise from hallways or the pool. The indoor pool and hot tub appeal to many, yet closures, cleanliness or maintenance issues, and crowded periods are reported. Breakfast is often praised for variety but can be inconsistent, and seating may be tight; expect a simple, value-focused stay if location matters more than modern finishes.

The staff was friendly and the included breakfast was really nice. The room was nice and having a fridge and microwave in the room was fantastic. Unfortunately the pool and hot tub were not available for our stay. Considering we were there for a ski trip this was very upsetting. Had we known we definitely would not have booked there at this time. It was a learning lesson for us. From now on we will always call a place before booking to confirm all facility amenities are available. We will consider this place again when we book in the area.

Our room was clean, the shower was good and the bed was comfortable. Other than that we were Very disappointed in this property. Check-in was a terrible experience. Our room was overfilled with furniture making it extremely difficult for me to negotiate with my wheelchair despite the fact I was told it would be no problem. It was impossible to get my chair into the bathroom which was a major inconvenience. Bath linens were replaced upon request but 2 washcloths and 2 towels are barely adequate. Parking was atrocious. 2 handicap spaces for a facility with over 300 rooms is ludicrous. Many guests were forced to park in lots belonging to other businesses. Fortunately our vehicle wasn’t towed for being in the wrong spot. Water pressure in the bathroom sink was barely adequate. From beginning to end it was an unpleasant experience. The lady at check out never asked about or stay or thanked us for our business. Very poor value for money spent. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

We had thousands of tiny ants in our room, the filters were covered in dust. The bathroom was like with what appeared to be black mold. The bottom of the hot tub was caked in dirt, when the jacuzzi was turned on people in the hot tub were sitting and bathing in dirt

The outside of the building is in need of repairs. Looks worn down and tired. The inside was clean and in good shape. Nice full breakfast. Wish the pool opened earlier than 9AM for us early risers and its a little uncomfortable with the window into the lobby so anyone coming in can see us all in the pool. That being said...it was a lovely pool and hottub. Much enjoyed

the room smelled like old socks. I believe the odor came from the bed which smelled like either someone sweated in it for a very long time, or vomited in it or died in it. needed to keep my head on a pillow lying on my back. woke multiple times when sleeping when my face rested on the sheets - was like smelling salts. not at all restful.

Would highly caution against staying at this hotel. Both of the beds in our double room were infested with BED BUGS. When the housekeeper came into our room after we alerted her, she suggested that the hotel has had had to call in exterminators for bed bugs before, which tells me this is a reoccurring problem for the property. Management did nothing to help us, and we’re now having to engage corporate to find relief.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this property is on the older side and it shows once you are inside the building. The hallways are dark and have a strong musty smell, and inside the actual room is more of the same with the carpet having the distinct "wet" feeling to them despite not actually being wet. Despite this, the property served its purpose for what I needed when staying in the area short-term and the staff was friendly to interact with.

The pros outweigh the cons at this Comfort Inn. Pros: helpful staff, clean room, comfy bed, nice hot water, good water pressure. Fridge microwave, and coffee maker in room. Coffee and water available in the lobby, too. Excellent variety of choices for breakfast. Cons: older building, stained lobby/hallway carpeting, peeling wallpaper. Rooms smelled very musty. There was a pool and hot tub that I didn’t get to try, but they looked good.

The front door was malfunctioning and it was very cold, so the staff were all bundled up in the lobby. I felt sorry for them. They fixed it the next day. The rooms were excellent, the staff was helpful, the breakfast was good and there were plenty of options. The lower number rooms in the 200 range are over the swimming pool and you can hear loud children. It did not bother me, but it could bother some people. The pool closes around 9:00-9:30PM and the noise stopped after that.

There wasn't much to like! The head of housekeeping was great. The day front desk people were not the friendliest. The building was in need of much repair and attention. Curled floor mats, peeling paint on detached handrails, dark and dated lobby, rooms with vent system continually blowing obnoxious stale cigarette smoke. The internet was not working. Breakfast was a reflection of the hotel, very poor. powdered eggs were undercooked, hockey pucks for donuts, eggs paddies were tough as leather. the coffee was good, This place is a very poor representation of a Comfort Inn!

Our check in host was great! However, the next host kept checking on us in the hot tub, basically kicked us out. We are 3 quiet adults trying to relax after skiing. We were sitting in the hot tub for about 6 minutes, and the staff was pointing a heat gun at us to check the temp and said its usually 2° hotter. Then she said we would have to get out soon so she could add water so the heater is submerged. It was fine when we were in there, only issue was not being able to relax and being bothered by staff. We felt unwelcome. At breakfast, the staff was literally breathing over the eggs as we tried to get some. It was ridiculous. Again, it was very unwelcoming. Who wants breathed on food? Gross. There was no non stick spray for the waffle maker. Breakfast was sad looking altogether.

Hard no to check in early, no where to store luggage while waiting for room. Staff member offered to call when room was ready but obviously just didn’t want to deal with check in. Arrived at 12:30, came back shortly after 3 when employee stated no room availability but would call when ready. No call but came back at 4:00 and room keys had been prepared and were in a flip thing waiting for our check in. Clearly the room had been ready but no care or urgency to accommodate in town and waiting guests. Honestly, I didn’t really care that we couldn’t check in, but no where to store luggage surprised me. I would have selected a different hotel if I had known. My assumption my bad… but be warned if it’s important to you. Mid day customer service not a thing here.

We stayed here to go skiing at Killington for 2 nights. It was clean and had everything I needed. Also had a great breakfast selection, which started at 6:30am. This was very convenient for us, as we wanted to leave the place early to ski. It was about 20-25 min away from the resort depending on where you park. There are also a lot of restaurants close by to the hotel. My only complaint is about the parking. The signs are not clear, as there is a 1-way road, which caused a lot of traffic with people going to check in/leave. I would definitely come back.
