At MOXY Memphis Downtown, many guests praise the fun, modern vibe, friendly staff, and walkable downtown location near Beale Street, while others highlight trade‑offs like compact rooms with minimal in‑room amenities, street and hallway noise, and valet‑only parking.
The lively lobby bar, arcade‑style games, and welcome drink tokens are popular touches. Cleanliness feedback is mixed and a number of reviews cite maintenance issues like leaky showers, AC or TV problems; some travelers also report safety concerns outside at night. Expect a trendy, minimalist stay focused on vibe and location.

It listed free parking but only parking option was pad at $30/night. Upon arrival we were told the tv wouldn’t work. Not only didn’t it work, when we turned it off, it turned back on by itself about every 10-15 minutes until we unplugged in the middle of the night. The breakfast sandwich we ordered was average at best and staff was indifferent.

Property was a different experience. Staff was nice. Parking is valet only. If there was street parking you had to pay and it wasn't close. Pinball machines were fun.

The room was very clean. The hotel had great service. I enjoyed the bar and games in the lobby. I did not like that there was no mini fridge, microwave, or coffee maker in the room. Overall i enjoyed my stay.

Lots of games in the lobby area for adults and kids. Bar area is fairly small. Outside seating is wonderful with the trolley line just a few steps away. Easy walk to downtown and riverfront. A little noisy but earplugs are readily available.

Rooms were great - clean and comfortable; great vibe Only issues were with the valet parking - that needs to be explained better on the website or via email. We were trying to make it to a wedding 3 blocks down the street at 4pm - arrived at the hotel at 3:30 with plenty of time to spare. The valet parking took 25 minutes to sort out (front desk said that we just needed to give the valet our key and text them a code - the actual process was much more complicated - had to verbally give the valet all my info, click a link, sign in, etc) and made us 5 minutes late walking into the wedding venue. The whole process needs to either be simplified or there needs to be a prompt to sign up for valet parking when you book the room to save time Otherwise, it was a great hotel with a chill vibe - we would definitely return if/when we are in Memphis again

This hotel was amazing. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make your stay great. We were given tokens for a free welcome drink or snack from the bar on arrival and there is a mini market in reception where you can purchase drinks or snacks. The room was furnished in a modern design and stocked with toiletries. If you have forgotten anything you can get them from the storage area( toothpaste or razors). The bar is open until midnight and they have bar games free to use throughout the area including pinball and shuffleboard. The bar staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and as we had a late arrival she provided us with the menu to a fantastic local takeaway who delivered straight to the reception. She even lent us her phone to make the local call. We were advised on where to go and where not to go as the area can be unsafe in places but the walk to Beale Street about 10 minutes away is patrolled by the police making it safe to walk both day or night.

I traveled to Memphis for a work trip. We chose Moxy hotel bc it had good reviews online & Ive stayed in other locations. Overall it was a pleasant experience, the front desk agent was friendly at check in. However, the 1st room we were assigned was filthy with stains on the walls & red hair on the pillows. The 2nd room we were assigned had clean walls but the shower was full of mildew & dirt. Housekeeping left a huge bag of trash near the elevator for an entire day. I had to mention it to the front desk several times. The hotel looks aesthetically pleasing from pictures but needs a thorough cleaning inside. I do not recommend this location.

We arrived late and went straight to bed. We were woken up at 3am by gunshots which killed a man outside our window. The next day we got up and headed out to explore the city and arrived back at the room late and exhausted. It was only then I realized the sheets on the bed had not been changed since the previous guest. There was dried fecal matter on the fitted sheet. Lesson learned.

We stayed in room 507 and when you opened the door you could immediately smell mildew. The rug in front of the bed was soaking wet we had to leave it in the hall to be able to stay the night in the room. Every board on the floor you stepped on had water coming from the cracks. The ac made a horrible rattling noise the whole time. Genuinely just not a good experience.

Walking takes you to the riverfront, many murals, Beale St and the Peabody, and multiple food options. The room is a bit smaller than for example Hampton Inn, but works fine for two (shower is a good size). Only criticism is the windows don’t block any noise but luckily the city gets quiet in the night.

Enjoyed the vibe and simplicity. Glad we had two beds since they were full size and not Queen. Very comfy but husband found them a bit too soft. Loved the hooks on the wall and conditioner. Bar was happy to give us cups of ice and the complimentary morning coffee downstairs was good. Liked sitting outside facing the park. Parking options were valet which we don’t care for do chose a nearby parking garage. Would have preferred to self park in the valet lot in front of the hotel even if had to pay. We’re close to mud island which we wanted but overall there was not much open around us maybe since it was a Sunday and Monday night. Chose to walk far for an open restaurant with barbq.

First time staying at a MOXY hotel and it was definitely not your standard hotel. Things to note: - No coffee machine in the room; had to go to the lobby for coffee. - There was no desk in the room, so not a great hotel option if you need to work. - They play music in the hallways at all hours. There is even a bucket of earplugs by each elevator. If you're sensitive to noise, this is not the hotel for you. - There are linen closets on most floors (except 3) where you are expected to get towels, toiletries, etc. yourself. Cons: - I asked for daily room cleaning and they only came once in 4 nights. - I asked for a late checkout and was told 2pm was fine. At 2pm I received a phone call from the hotel asking why I hadn't checked out at 11am. There needs to be better communication between the front desk staff. - A room key card is needed to get into the hotel from the back entrance, but once you're in the hotel lobby, anyone can access the hotel rooms via the elevators. I would have felt much safer if the elevator access was also restricted to guests with room key cards. For the price, I would rather stay at a more traditional hotel.

There were no room darkening drapes. The light from the surrounding hotels came right thru. The toilet paper holder was broken. The shower door did not fit and water leaked out onto the floor. The outside noise with the trolley blowing its horn every 20-30 minutes kept us awake until Midnight.

A lot of trash on the ground on hotel patio and right out front. Numerous homeless people hanging out on hotel patio and across from hotel all day and night. Gunshots at 1am sounded as if coming from park directly across street. Did not feel safe, lost money for 2 nights paid ahead but left early anyway.

Very unique hotel. Loved the decor. So close to everything. We only got our car from the valet once. We walked everywhere else. It was a little noisy on Saturday night but I don’t know what else you could expect downtown. Super friendly staff.

Really great spot to stay for walking distance to the likes of Beale Street, museum of civil rights etc. Tram stops right outside as well as finding it very easy to pick up ubers etc. The staff at Moxy were so welcoming and friendly, lovely little bar area to sit and grab a drink. The room was super clean and spacious. Only thing is hotels.com listed as having laundry facilities available but on arrival they said they didn't, which was slightly problematic as I was in need of this but not the end of the world!

We were advised on where to go and where not to go as the area can be unsafe in places but the walk to Beale Street about 10 minutes away is patrolled by the police making it safe to walk both day or night.

it was perfect for our 2 day trip. I was able to walk everywhere where was needed . It was close to all the restaurants . There was a lot of homeless people but they never bothered me nor asked for money . Right outside the hotel was the trolly . It was a beautiful stay and trip . The hotel was quiet and beds was comfortable. Room matched the description. We will definitely be back to stay .

I was not expecting much, but after the fourth day I had to ask for my room to be cleaned. My main complaint was the valet parking service. They actually lost my car one day and I had to wait for them to find it. Several times I stood waiting more than ten minutes for my vehicle even though I was “first in queue”.
