What guests think

At Comfort Inn Mechanicsburg - Harrisburg South, travelers often appreciate the friendly staff, good value, and convenient, quiet location near major roads and restaurants, while many also note an aging property with maintenance problems, thin walls, and occasional unpleasant odors.

Cleanliness feedback is mixed, with reports ranging from very clean rooms to stained carpets, mold, pests, and rooms not ready at check in. Breakfast quality varies; several guests enjoyed hot options and waffles, while others found limited variety, poor quality items, or slow refills. Facilities such as the small pool, tiny gym, and elevator or door mechanisms draw complaints, and parking can be tight. Expect a budget stay with convenient access but uneven upkeep.

The pillows and bed were comfy but the beds were obviously old and saggy. The showers were out of shampoo and conditioner - the dispensers had actually been sealed off. And the elevator broke while we were there - and we were on the third floor.

The property is fine. However they do not rent to locals and that wasn’t stated anywhere on their website or on the property. Was told by the front desk when I got there. Luckily the manager let me stay but just know this if you’re local to the Central PA area before renting. The room itself was nice and clean and spacious. The gym is extremely small so not really good for a decent workout.

The property as a whole was nice and loved the size and layout of my room. Unfortunately my room was dirty with food from the prior guest left in the sink and hair on the bathroom floor. When I made the front desk aware of this mess, they were apologetic and left a goodie bag in my room, but it was still never cleaned. The gym was disgusting. The dried sweat accumulated on the equipment was gross and had to have had accumulated over many months of not ever being cleaned. I've never been in a more disgusting workout room.

This hotel is very dated and dirty. The bathroom door was peeling apart, the bathroom vanity was chipped, the remote was taped together, and the faucet had hair shavings on it from a previous guest. The front desk person was unprofessional. It was very disappointing

I spotted a baby roach for goodness sake! I slept with one eye open and all my bags closed! The pool looked dirty and unkept. Luckily for us, we only stayed a night after leaving Hershey Park. We checked in at 10;30pm and left by 9am. I only enjoyed the coffee and the bed was comfortable. I would never go back- but you get what you pay for...

Upon checking in we were assured that our room was ready to go. When we entered the room one of the beds was not made. There was a huge pile of dirty towels in the bathroom. I went back to the front desk and was given a different t room. This one was clean but there were no towels in the bathroom and the ceiling in the shower had mold on it.

The maintenance needs serious attention. Our bathroom faucet began leaking in the middle of the night at full force making a loud squeaking sound. The staff had no idea what to do. They initially booked us in a wrong room and then tried two more before finally finding one that was clean and ready for occupancy. The room had a made bed, but was still dirty in many ways.

The location of the hotel was nice, it was easy to find places to eat. The property itself was very rundown. Decent stay for a lower price than most hotels in the area, but I would splurge to stay elsewhere if I travel back to the area. The elevator was dirty and smelled horrible. The room was outdated, with many spots on the walls covered with touch-up paint. The shower looked absolutely filthy, so we did not use it. The bathroom was very small, the door nearly hit the toilet when it was opened and there were a lot of stains on the door. The base of the lamp on the nightstand between the beds had stains on it as well. It did not appear that housekeeping put much effort into thoroughly cleaning the room. Overall, it was a less than pleasant stay, and we will not be returning.

We stayed 3 nights in a heat wave in a full hotel. Our AC ran but did not cool the room. We told the desk but since they were booked solid we couldn't move rooms. They gave us a small tabletop fan and said manager/maintenance would fix in the morning. Same issue when we returned after our day out on day 2. Upon checkout I asked to speak to manager and he said he checked and it was blowing cold air on Saturday. I told him yes it was but not at a level that could cool the room. Said he could only put points on my loyalty account since I paid through a 3rd party. I discovered from others on our floor that some rooms had digital thermostats and had been upgraded. Our room was not one that had been renovated obviously.

Bathroom had some hair in it, rooms are a little rundown, and breakfast options are very limited, but for a couple nights, it was OK. The toughest part was that we arrived around midnight and no one was at the front desk. We rang the bell, knocked on doors and I finally call the main number, but they couldn't locate anyone. We were there for over 30min and my son had just flown in from Vietnam. The lady who finally came was very apologetic, but someone should be checking the desk or at least watch the cameras every once in awhile...or hear the "Ring for Service" bell.

First the staff are extremely friendly and helpful upon check in and check out. At breakfast one of the employees (manager?) asked us how we were doing, how our stay was going, and thanked us for staying there. That was really nice and shows that they care about the guests. The room was clean but did have an issue with the shower. The spout and temperature control could literally pull out of the wall and when you adjusted the temperature from cold to hot, the pipes would vibrate in the wall. Other than that everything was good with the room. Price, location, and staff were great. Would stay again.

One would think that all Comfort Inn properties would have the same amenities - NO. Whatba drastic difference between a CI 140 miles away to this one. This property needs help and a staff change. The front desk women have no knkwledge and are lazy. If you dpnt know the answer, tell me you dont know the answer. Dont brush it off as they did. The breakfast was horrible. The eggs were processed (not real) and the sausages were cooked 2 or 3 times (cardboard). Waffles were fine as you made them yourself. NO fruit. Excuses both mornings were, the delivery never showed up. There was a grocery store down the street. If customer service was a priority, they should have made the walk and purchased them. Our room had tiles pulling away from the wall and very little water pressure. Toilet ran on and on. (I fixed it). It could be a nice 5 star hotel (as the one we stayed in the previous night in Williamsport). But it ia in need of attention.
