What guests think

Across many reviews, Holiday Inn Champaign by IHG is praised for friendly staff, spacious rooms, and a convenient location near the University of Illinois, with numerous guests finding stays comfortable for events, campus visits, and quick trips.

Cleanliness feedback is mixed: many describe rooms and common areas as very clean, while others report serious lapses such as odors, sticky floors, hairs, or occasional pests. Facilities draw recurring complaints about limited or across the street parking, intermittent hot water outages, and occasional pool or elevator closures. Service is often friendly and accommodating, but some guests experienced delayed room readiness at check-in, inconsistent communication (especially around breakfast vouchers), and strict lobby rules affecting team groups. Expect a convenient base near campus with generally comfortable rooms, but verify parking, breakfast details, and amenity status.

The stay was good for what I needed. It was a last minute booking and the closest to the actual center I had to do training at. The back elevator was out and I was on the top floor in the very rear of the hotel, so I had to climb some stairs.

Indoor pool closed for maintenance. Parking across the street, with tiny lot by the entrance - had to make several trips walking to unload my car. No microwave oven in the room, had to go down to the lobby. No flexibility for late checkout, no shower in pool area to use after running Illinois Marathon 4-27-24. Not impressed for over $200 for one night. Room was very clean, however.

Mattresses need replaced as they are getting squeaky but apart from that everything was great. Parking is across the street. The hotel is adjacent to Wolfram Research. That should be a sufficient reason for you to book this hotel. If you dont know what that is, look it up!

Hotel room was even nicer and more spacious than online pictures. Bathroom was great with all the Dove products to use. I didn’t even have to unpack the stuff I brought. Needed a microwave and they brought one right up to the room. Plenty of eating options within walking distance. Only thing I would suggest is when you check in make sure to find out where to park. It is across the road but super close and plenty of spots. Would definitely stay again!!

Very nice facility very friendly and attentive staff. Outside of not having hot water the first day which things like this happen, it was a pleasant experience. I requested a refund for the first day because of the Hot water issue and they promptly removed the entire charge for the first day. Very nice of them. I would recommend anyone to stay there and we will also the next time we are in Champaign.

I'll start with the good. The bed is super comfortable and all in all the room is clean. I was given 3 conditioners instead of a shampoo and conditioner, but there's worse things in life. Lots of dust and hair along the baseboards in the bathroom, kind of gross. The food that is supposed to be a free buffet for breakfast I was charged for is HORRIBLE! WORST hotel breakfast I've ever had. When asked why I had to pay, I was given some crap excuse of Expedia didn't push it through. Ridiculous, I paid for the room. It should be free. I'm angry I had to pay for that crappy food...really horrible. The lobby bathroom was disgusting, no stalls had toilet paper and the one that did had a toilet that was overflowing with crap water. This was at 9:30 in the morning. Just disgusting. The room was nice and clean otherwise and very quiet. I would say avoid the breakfast and the lobby bathroom and bring your own toiletries.

Everything was dirty and smelled. The elevator smelled like rotting food. The first room I got smelled like mildew and I had to change rooms. This is just another example of hotel chains considering a paint job as an upgrade so they can charge more.

The hotel was filthy. Dried urine on the bathroom wall and doors. There was no way the carpet was vacuumed anytime recently. The shower was clogged, which was awful. We were supped to have a mini fridge and instead they replaced it was a safe. I will never stay at this hotel again. $400 is crazy! I am also letting my son team know this place should never be listed as the “team hotel”. I tried to find a manager when we were checking out, but everyone looked in a panic and overwhelmed state. I plan on calling to speak with someone this week.

I am staying unit 108 right now and it's terrible. It is located on 1st floor right around the corner of front desk and I checked in at midnight so I understand I need to stay on 1st floor. But the noise is terrible than i though. This is not a room where customers can pay to sleep at all. From around 4 am one guy and one lady began to talk loudly almost over 1hours ( Especially a guy), and from around 6 am, people believed to be group customers make a loud noise in the lobby and left. Of course, it was always loud after that because it's the morning. I am here to visit Illini Fest and I am supposed to walk around whole day but this hotel messed up today because I wasn't able to sleep at all! Also, as soon as I came into the room, I found several hairs in the bed. It didn't matter at first, but now that I've had a terrorist night, I guess it has something to do with it.

At check in times rooms were not available and the lobby was fillled with people needing to check in. This delay ruined our timing to meet with others, a very poor start to our stay. rooms are good but the way they treat you as the “lobby closes” at 10pm with security is beyond terrible hospitality. There is not even a place to park besides a parking lot across the street from the hotel. This hotel is on the list for travel baseball tournaments but yet dont allow any place for teams or parents to just sit and socialize as security gets rude and says “im losing my patients group of people in town for travel ball from Indianapolis and was watching the NBA finals Pacers game and not being loud or anything and asked if we could at least watch end of the game (2:30) and was talked to rude as can be by security.
