Stayed 5 nights

I was in Ames, Iowa for a family emergency. I needed sleep and asked Sandy at check in if she could get me a quiet room. Boy, did she ever. I didn’t hear a peep on the third floor my entire stay.. Even with a ISU football game one weekend. I ended up extending my stay twice and was seamlessly kept in the same room. The room was very clean and up-to-date. The breakfast was solid, rotating scrambled eggs, omelettes, sausages, bacon… and having waffles, granola bars, fruit… available all days. There’s also an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi that’s open all year round, a significant perk in this winter climate. Ames is a college town with lots of hotel choices. Many are very nice and I would put this property among the very top options. It’s conveniently located near I-35 and Highway 30, a quick drive to the Iowa State campus and maybe more importantly, Hickory Park restaurant. If you’ve been to Ames, you know what I’m talking about. There is also a nice Mexican restaurant, an Olive Garden and a pancake house in the immediate vicinity. Many other stores and restaurants are five minutes away on Duff Avenue. And did I mention they have fresh baked cookies in the lobby?

Our floor smelled like pot really bad , Heard a dog barking non stop. Asked for tissues they came into room when we were not there and left them on the tv. The staff used our bathroom and glogged it had to get a different room. the new room was much better but a hassle moving after being settled . Pool was nice the chairs outside were nice to sit at.

This hotel is starting to look run down. Paint was chipping and peeling in our room. The room was very humid, despite the AC, and had a distinct mildew smell. The wood on the bathroom door was swollen, so it didn't close shut.We arrived late and were only staying 1 night, so did not ask for a change. Breakfast was mid.
