What guests think
At SpringHill Suites St Petersburg Clearwater, many guests praise the friendly, accommodating staff, while repeated comments note an aging property with maintenance problems such as a long-time broken elevator, inconsistent air conditioning, and issues around the pool and hot tub.
Rooms are often spacious, but furnishings feel dated, with small older TVs, worn furniture, and inconsistent in-room AC or water pressure. Cleanliness is mixed: several guests found rooms and common areas clean, while others cited stained tubs, mold, pests, lingering smoke smells, or missed housekeeping. Breakfast ranges from great with many options to basic or poorly replenished, and the location is convenient to the airport, restaurants, and shopping. Overall, expect an older, budget-feeling stay with trade-offs.

Very helpful and friendly staff ! This is probably the worst breakfast however at a SpringHill and the outside hot tub did not work correctly.

Staff was doing their best. Air conditioning in main commons and hallways was not working )Florida in Summer), elevator was down, room was small, sofa was stained, beds were very uncomfortable, tub/shower was stained and dirty, overall not at all what I expect from a Marriott property. Will re-think reserving w Marriott in the future.

Friendly staff but the hotel needs serious attention I recently stayed at this hotel and while I really appreciated how kind and helpful the staff were throughout our visit, the overall condition of the property was disappointing. The elevator was out of service, so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs, which was very inconvenient. The gym was out of order, the ice machine wasn't working, and the breakfast offered was extremely basic. Additionally, there were noticeable cleanliness issues, and the hotel felt worn down and in need of a refresh. It wasn’t chaotic or unmanageable, but it definitely didn’t meet the standards I would expect from a property associated with the Marriott family. It feels like a budget hotel where you more or less get what you pay for — nothing more, nothing less. If you're looking for something simple and don’t mind the lack of amenities or the outdated feel, it might work. Otherwise, I’d recommend considering

Pool and hot tub were unusable. The only reason I chose the hotel was because the website advertised both were available.

Hotel is just ok nothing spectacular. The room was nice and a decent size. The room keys wouldn’t work on the first try to enter the room, pool area or side entrances. We literally had to swipe the card several times for about a min to get back in or out the hotel and when I went to the front desk she said thats normal just keep swiping the card. The breakfast was not a big deal at all. The pool area is very small not so inviting and there were bugs eating us alive. Not to mention the ones floating around in the pool that I scooped out myself with the pool equipment. The jacuzzi was nice and hot but the jets didn’t work.

The staff was great and helpful. The room was missed during cleaning and I was quickly switched to another. However, the hallways and outside area remained trashy the entire time. Cans and side walk area flooded with trash. The elevator was down and it was not fixed. I wasn’t expecting a newly updated hotel, but I did expect it to at least be clean. Despite this, the staff was still very friendly and helpful. That’s the only reason I wouldn’t mark it a one star.

It was an okay hotel, the elevators did not work at all and we were not informed of this until we arrived at 10 at night after driving 16 hours. Then we were put in the room on the 2nd floor right beside the stairwell so there was quite a bit of noise, knowing EVERY guest would have to use the stairs it seems as though that would be the last room to be used but we booked several weeks ago. The room was very clean and comfortable, we loved that they had regular sized shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles attached to the shower wall at a convenient height. The breakfast was good Sunday however Monday had only one pot of severly watered down coffee and cold, soggy Bob Evans sandwiches. Monday the sausage was flavorless and the potatoes were undercooked. The employees were all super polite and helpful though. The pool and hot tub were okay, they could both have been cleaned better.

We stayed for four days for a conference and they smashed our window in their parking lot. No camera surveillance. This was annoying. The hotel is dated. Close to airport and a lot of fast food options around.

The staff is pleasant. The rooms are adequate. However, when I requested a quiet room, I was told, "All our rooms are quiet." I had to change rooms after the first night for the remainder of my stay. Negative points: insufficient attention to detail at breakfast and a constant lack of hot water—only lukewarm. Our room wasn't cleaned during our three-night stay. The elevator carpet needs replacing.

I read some reviews when I booked this hotel, and the ratings were decent. My boyfriend and I stayed for one night and were in a hurry to check out the following day. We even considered eating the money and driving four hours home after a concert we attended, but we were exhausted from the drive up to St. Petersburg. When we got into our room, we both needed to shower. When I tell you the bathtub was disgusting, that’s an understatement. The shower head was covered in mold. The tub was so gross I didn’t want my bare feet standing in it—next, the toilet. I’m sure you can tell what is in the bowl. Disgusting. The couch has stains; the sink hasn’t been cleaned in months. The microwave had the nastiest smell, like leaving cooked ramen for three days. The bed was decent, but I used my blanket and pillow because if the rest of the room weren’t bad enough, I wouldn’t lay my head on their pillows and use their blanket. Overall, I would never stay here again. It is entirely run down and isn’t worth the $200 I paid for one night.

Hotel staff was nice. There were numerous stains on couch and bed box spring . The neighbors were smoking weed and the smoke was coming into our room. The hotel itself needs upkeep. It is very old looking and repairs are needed. It is not up to the standards of other Springhill suites I have stayed in.

The property is VERY run down. Not up to date or nicely renovated and definitely needs it! The rooms were clean, but only double beds, not queen size. The TV is very old and small. The bathrooms has a very loud fan, the water pressure in the shower isn't great. The AC units are subpar. The couches were very worn and dirty. The carpets in the rooms were nasty. Needs a total renovation.

Permitted me to check in early by honoring Marriott status, so that was a big plus. I just needed to rest up before having a dinner meeting. Checked out in the evening and did not stay the night. What was disappointing was the lack of food for the breakfast. There were some cancelled flights at the airport because of bad weather and it appears that they ran out. So overall A early check good - limited breakfast food bad.

Phone number for hotel didn’t work for at least a week and a half after my stay. Zero way to get in touch with front desk. Called corporate. They didn’t seem to care. They sent a message to the front desk saying they would see it and reply with 5 days.. nope. Still waiting 3 weeks later. Also sent an email to the GM. Says 5 business days for reply. Nope, still waiting 3 weeks later. Also sent message to springhill facebook. Said will get a reply in 5 business days. Nope still waiting 3 weeks later. Hotel was comfortable. But don’t expect any customer service unless or any way to contact or talk to anyone at the hotel unless You are standing there at the front desk. This has led me to always put Marriott properties at the end of my preference order because I have no faith in their customer service after this experience.

Front desk lady was great. I had a loud TV next to me and she had no problem moving me to another room.

Our room was comfortable and clean. While there is a very busy street nearby, the property is set back far enough that it was not bothersome. Overall we were pleased with our stay.

Springhill suites is always a good choice. You know you will get a clean room, comfort and good breakfast. The unique quality of this property is the location I guess.

Nice staff. Clean hotel. Not too much around hotel but that’s common in some parts of Florida. Affordable.

Adequate accommodations for a night. Room was a good size, location felt safe and quiet. Pool was small and a little on the warm side but we had it to ourselves and we didn’t mind the temperature as another couple had the hot tub tied up. Both the room and the pool are about due for some updating. No complaints about cleanliness in the room except that the floor of the tub was dirty looking. Small but functional workout room, the treadmills worked and there was a selection of small weights with a bench. Can’t say if the elliptical machine worked or not. Breakfast was ok with a good selection of options from cereal, to donuts, to eggs and sausage and potatoes. The staff we came in contact with were all very nice. Overall a good stay and we would have no problem staying here again.

The hotel left alot to be desired. The overall appearance of the hotel was very out dated. The elevators did not work. Climbing flights of stairs in July heat wasn't the best. The water pressure in the shower was very weak. It was notice able the furniture needed to be steam cleaned giving a grimy feeling to the entire room . Breakfast was disgusting. Powder eggs, rubbery waffles, half cooked breakfast sausages. Any perk I originally seen for staying here faded quickly.

Staff was nice. Breakfast was good. Room was spacious and somewhat updated but the bed mattress felt tired or cheap. The garbage can by the ice machine was over flowing on to the floor and was still there the next day. Kinda made us feel uneasy.
