Best Western Plus Newark/Christiana Inn

Main reason we came was for the hot tub and were told by guest its been closed for 3 months, But shows as an amenity online.

The hot tub an pool were broken. The stay was good up till the last night it was hecktic an the front deak lady was not helpful very stressed. But over night guy was awesome

This was a nice hotel for a fair price. Nice finishes in the room. Only problem was that the hot tub was out of order and empty, and the pool wasn't heated so it was freezing cold. Staff was nice and helpful.

I specifically asked the hotel desk attendant prior to checking in if the Hottub and Pool was working. He said yes and that it would be open at 7am. At 7am the Hot tub was drained and taken apart, and the pool water was ice cold. I spoke to the manager and he didn't know anything was wrong.

I booked my stay here because of the pool and the hot tub both of which were not working. The pool was very cold and not enjoyable to swim in.

Hotel closes pool at 8 pm which is ridiculous compared to other hotels. On top of that the hot tub wasn’t even working which is the reason we got the hotel. The staff was rude about this as well. The rooms are really out dated! The breakfast was not good either.

The hotel has a smell and the lobby was very warm. We had gone with a group to have several rooms and played games in the lobby but was very hot. The pool is only open until 8pm and the hot tub was out of order. The air conditioner in my room was set to 60 but still didn’t cool it down. My bed was made once in my 3 night stay and didn’t give enough towels when they cleaned to replace the original towels. Water went outside the tub no matter which way you put the curtain. Floor needs a good cleaning. The receptionist is a soft talker. They put a $150 hold on your room at check in to reduce damages. I had to reactivate my key every night. They have yogurt for breakfast, cereal, muffins. The self making pancake machine wouldn’t work and when it did, you would get a pancake a pea size or a regular size, not consistent. The eggs were not tasty as well as the bacon and sausage that had no taste. We had to get breakfast other places as this just was not tasty at all. Bed and pillows are super soft if you like your mattresses and pillow that way…it’s for you. Be careful of the only elevator they have as the door started to close and my daughter put her arm in to stop it and her arm almost got broken. This also happened to two others in our group.

Hotel staff did not disclose that the elevator was out of service. No other room options available and traveling with elderly family members. There was no accommodations made for the inconvenience. Will not be returning to this hotel.

The place itself was fine but the pot smell in the hotel was crazy. We realize its legal but wish the rules applied to pot users like cigarettes. Hotels seem to jump down peoples throats for cigarettes but the other is worse! We don't do either but my 82 year old mother smokes and follows rules, everyone should! It would be nice to relax and not have smell it in a hotel.

Clean sheets and towels, clean spacious room, quiet, generous breakfast.

My room had candy under the desk when we first entered. Towels were dirty. Air vent had a smoky smell. Dirt behind the tissue holder in the bathroom. Ceiling had dirt spots. Dirt in the pool and all around the pool and yellow stain in the bath tub. No good wifi in the downstairs office area. Carpet dirty

All I have to say is roaches...crawling on the wall...across my nightstand. Worst night of sleep ever!!

The hotel has signs all over that it is 100% smoke free yet as soon as you step in the lobby you get a stale, stank smell and as soon as you exit the elevator all you smell is smoke & weed. The clothing armoire was full of dust inside, clearly hadnt been cleaned well in a long time

Roaches in room. Absolutely filthy. Took 3 rooms until I was able to put my things down. Also have $150 hold on my card which has not been released yet. That’s more than the room cost.

Stayed in rooms 308 and 102. Encountered running toilets, leaky showers, non working refrigerators, faulty door locks, dirty carpeting, bugs, and rooms reaking with the smell of stale tobacco and marijuana. Would not have stayed if a vacancy could be found nearby. Intially assigned to room 308. Easy enough to get our belongings in; however, upon trying to leave the room, the door would not close. Called front desk several times. No answer. Went to the front desk, advised employee of issues with room, and asked for another room. Was advised that no other room was available. 90 minutes of our stay wasted while staff tried to get the door closed and address issues. Returned a few hours later... refrigerator still not working - door and toilet appeared to be ok. However, when needed to go back out, the room door would not open. We were trapped inside for almost 4 hours while staffers tried to get the door open. Around 3am, a worker climbed a ladder to our 3rd floor window, gave instructions to take the window and screen out of the frame so he could enter the room. 15-20 minutes later, the door was pried open. We gathered our things and moved to the now available room 102. The door and refrigerator worked but the condition of this room was worse than that of room 308. The pool was nice and breakfast was ok; however, there were lines on both days - the coffee machine broke on day 1, the pancake machine broke on day 2. Inconvenienced. No compensation offered by management.

One of the nicest hotels in the area. It was comfortable and had one of the best shower pressure I’ve had. The area around the hotel outside has a lot of trash. The lobby has been updated but the rooms are dated.

Except Wi-Fi availability, everything was fine. Check in was smooth. I ask for upper floor, the front desk was fine. Room is clean. The bed was on the soft side but was good. Breakfast was sufficient. Wi-Fi only available close to the door entrance then drop to barely a bar in the room.

The hotel is in need of a makeover. We found a couple of dead bugs on the floor. The TV remote was very difficult to use and navigate. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and the breakfast station was sparse.

Traveling south and needed a hotel for the night. I choose well. The bed was comfy and big. Room all cleaned. Very quiet room so I fell asleep quickly and I slept well!

Very basic 2-star hotel. Our door tended to get jammed, making it difficult to get out of the room. Beds were not particularly comfortable, although the room was clean. TVs did not work (the building was without cable after a nearby accident). Front desk staff was very pleasant. Hallway smelled pretty bad. Decent for a quick stopover on a long road trip (and very good retail and dining options nearby), but not especially comfortable.

All employees were welcoming and accommodating. Appreciate that this was a dog, friendly hotel near our destination. There is a nice backyard to walk your dog in. Would probably stay there again as it is close to our regular destination. Looks like this could be a hotel with upgrades. The mattress felt very old. The curtains need a deep clean due to dust and age.

The check in was terrible. It took 20 minutes per person because only 1 person was checking people in while the other 2 people stood around looking confused

I checked in late and the gentleman at the front desk could not have been nicer. The price was good, room good sized, clean and quiet. Breakfast the next morning was nice too.

From the moment I walked into the hotel it was an awful experience. The girl that waited on me was so unprofessional and rude. From sitting in a chair with her knees up to basically throwing the key card at me. Never once said a word about anything informational about my stay besides “that’s the price” which was on screen and here’s card and tossed it on counter at me. Then to not have any direction or times for anything going on at the hotel. To get to our room where lights didn’t work, the phone didn’t work, and that the room was so hot and I had the ac on 60 and it still didn’t cool the room down. Then there were kids running through halls, slamming doors, and knocking on doors at 8am I called the hotel on my phone since the phones didn’t work and the same girl replied “ok” about my complaints. Never have I once had such an awful experience with a hotel. You couldn’t pay me to stay there and I will let everyone know about this as well

The check in and check out process was quick and easy. The staff were nice. Our room was clean and already had a microwave in it so we didn’t have to request one. Overall, everything was good.

Everything was good till last day when they were booked full an the front desk was down right AWFUL about chevking out. I had to extend my stay 1 day an they wanted me to check out of the room completely then chevk back into same room at 3pm. The hole point of extending the stay wsd to avoid that

I would stay away from this hotel if you can. Yes its close to the airport but Im not sure its worth that convenience. When i stepped in the lobby instead of being greeted with a hi, how can i help you the front deak perso's literal 1st words out of his mouth was check in isnt til 3 - no asking my name or seeing if the room was ready. I should have known something was up. I had to ask 3 times to precheckin and we'd be back in an hour. When we came back at 305 we were told they put us in a pet room on the 1sr floor cuz someone got trapped in the elevator earlier. We have pets so we thought no problem. Initially we noticed everything in the room seemed damp but after a long drive we just settled in to chill and watch some TV. Thats when we noticed the ants on the floors, walls and night stands. Upon further inspection we found mold on the curtains too. My husband asked to switch rooms and they said they didn't have anymore of our kind on the 1st floor. I have heart issues but i wasn't gonna stay in a bug filled moldy room so we moved to a 3rd floor room without bugs or mold. This room is okay but when i went to take a shower the hook on the door was loose so no hanging my clothes there. I went to brush my teeth and the water in the sink wouldn’t go down. I had to play with the stopper to get it to work. We typically really like the best westren hotel brand but if they allow hotels like this and employ rude hotel staff we will not patronize these any more.

The property was in a good location centralized to many different things. Would definitely use this again if ever in the area.

The hotel location was convenient for our purposes, and the reviews looked fine. The staff were generally friendly and tried to be helpful, and the common areas were updated and clean. But I have three chief complaints. (1) Check-in was a mess. The hotel attempted to charge us even after we had prepaid. So we arrived at 10 PM, but were not able to settle in till 11:30. (2) The hallways smelled terrible. Trash bags, used towels, and empty food containers littered the hallway, and you could smell both cigarette and marijuana smoke. (3) Breakfast was substandard. The pancake maker wasn't working, there was no peanut butter, and the only fruit option were apples that were brown and mealy when you bit into them. I would not stay here again. I'll spend a little more and stay elsewhere.

Over all very nice, cozy and clean. Good variety for breakfast. Really appreciate the early check in. The only (minor) complaint is that they were cleaning/disinfecting the pool during pool hours so we had to wait 1/2 hour till we could return to the pool. Ideally they would do that after the pool closed for the night.

Absolutely horrible!! Room 221 is one giant cloud of smoke and at 11pm we had no other option. Comical to throw a non-smoking sign in there. Probably merits some kind of assault charges. Automatic pancake maker and single cup coffee machine never got refilled after first use. I opted to sleep in my car and consider that to be the best part of the whole experience.

Room’s bed was not impressive at all, breakfast needs a huge improvement. If you can’t afford something decent, just don’t offer it.
