Overal a beautiful hotel. Property and room were lovely. Great staff and location. Breakfast was very good, however we had it included in our rate but the front of house and waiters did not know what we could have. So we had to go back out to reception who knew, 45 USD per person. Tips not included. Just better communication within the internal teams here. The gym was poor and needs refurbishment which was disappointing due how nice the rest of the hotel is and the price. The main weight machines were broken and the weights were a mixture and not heavy. If you just wanted to do cardio then it would be fine.

This property was older. It needs some upgrading. The carpets in elevators, halls, and rooms need to be deep cleaned or changed. Our bed was not comfortable and we had to change rooms because our room kept making a horrible whistling sound all night long. The water pressure in both of our rooms was not good at all! Our stay was not as we had hoped in celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. Not the most comfortable happy stay. Also, the gym is really small a d dark feeling. Needs new lighting and a clean welcome feeling. However, the entire staff was very polite and professional, including the restaurant staff!! The food at the hotel was great!!

Great location...central to shopping, dining, culture! Room was VERY spacious and clean. The valet was not as attentive for the daily charge. Waited for car service over 30 minutes each time.

The staff is very friendly, and very helpful with all of my needs. I did not eat at the hotel but they have a nice bar where I enjoyed a mixed cocktail prepared by the friendly bartender. The room was very nice .The elevators can get backed up at certain times of the day, maybe they had one out of order. I stayed here because it was so close to the White House, when I returned to Washington DC I think I will try another hotel instead.

The only negative thing about staying at this hotel is there is no over night parking except their valet. Which is $65 a night. So include that into your stay.

Same price as jw marriott or watergate but offers nothing besides location. The room was terrible. It had no ceiling lights and only three lamps in 400sqft. It was probably north facing so had no sun light. There was constant noise of some motor whizzing near our room - probably room specific. The curtains are tedious to close. All in all just a terribly designed room. Staff are also not polite. If you enter the hotel at night without a key a guy interrogates you with disdain. I saw them nearly shout at a young woman who who asked for a replacement key. Parking is $65 - more expensive than the local parking. Gym is excellent and room size was big for conparable options. There is no warmth in this place. Do not book for non work reasons ever.

We stayed here the week of July 4th. It was conveniently located one block from the Metro. The map on Expedia is a little deceiving as it appears the hotel is directly across from the White House. It is actually 2 blocks from the White House. The hotel is clean and the front desk employees were very nice and helpful. The parking attendants could have paid more attention to helping you with opening the front door, which is very heavy, and the handicap push button was directly behind them making it difficult to get to when your hands were full, most of them didn't even look at you or greet you. The rooms are nice but when another room leaves the doors slam and shake the door to your room. The beds are a little on the firm side. The refrigerators are ridiculous, they have notches on each shelf for drinks so it is difficult to put any food in it and it was never very cold, I could not find the cooling knob to turn it up. You can connect your tv to any streaming service, which worked the first 2 days but then it was hit and miss the remaining days of our stay. The IT guy came up and evaluated it and said he would have to call the company. I don't know if he did because it was difficult to connect even after he came to evaluate it.

Large water bug/cockroach in our shower. Staff was responsive and removed it. Worst shower pressure EVER!! Felt like I was not clean after the shower. I will not be returning.

First off We got bedbugs from the place. They advertise as 5 star hotel, I wouldn’t even consider it a 4 star. Our shower would turn on and off as we used it. The restaurant attached to the hotel was mediocre at best. I would not stay here again

Housekeeping never cleaned room, or bathroom, and left dirty coffee cups in bathroom sink. Cleaning staff finally came at 11:30 after calling front desk. Never replaced used towels and bath towels. Netflix did not work. Bday css as ke was delivered to room without plates and troops.

Worst front desk, approached front desk and asked few questions and she had very condescending tone with monosyllabic answers. Asked for water and she said go to fountain. Location of hotel is good, very small rooms no amenities and even the staff in restaurants was very rude and restaurant had tiny rats running around, when guest reported about rat staff responded saying “yeah they come around all the time” and laughed

Starting at check-in there isn’t anything not to appreciate about this excellent hotel. It’s very well appointed, very friendly and professional staff, comfortable room. Housekeeping was so attentive it seemed like my own personal service. The location is very central and walkable.

The shower had low water pressure, only a fixed overhead showerhead, and the water temperature hovered on the verge of cold rather than warm. This was a bit disappointing, but aside from that, everything else was great. Overall, a wonderful stay with outstanding service—just wish the shower experience was better

it was close to the white house. Did not like that the AC was set at a MAX temperature and was not able to change the room temperature lower. Rooms was hot even with the curtains closed . Complained but nothing was done . I asked for a fan and there was none . also the restaurant was ok, same menu for several days in the evening , food was cold , complain but nothing was done , kept on bring it warm.

Review of Sofitel Hotel – A Comfortable Stay with Room for Improvement Overall, our stay at the Sofitel was very pleasant. The room itself was comfortable and well-maintained, and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job keeping it clean and tidy throughout our visit. However, there were a few aspects that could be improved. The duvet comforter was used as the main cover with no top sheet provided, which was not ideal. Additionally, the curtains in our room were in need of repair, and the refrigerator was not working during our stay. Service was a bit inconsistent. While the bar offered a great happy hour with a nice selection of drinks, the bartenders were not particularly welcoming. We also had some difficulty communicating with the front desk—phone calls from our room to request extra towels and a sheet went unanswered, and even after speaking directly with staff in the morning, our request was still forgotten. We loved our stay at this hotel. We did not like the limited lighting in our room. It was very dark. But overall, we would stay here again. We were able to walk to dinner and the museums and not have to deal with parking.

Hotel rooms are a bit tired. Complimentary wine was not ready for us and took till next day to receive after having gone to front desk a second time. Our toilet kept running as well. Staff at times were not super friendly. Seemed a little unprofessional at times. Friends of our staying there as well had issues with towels and water cups etc not being replaced. But, overall it was an average stay. We absolutely loved the location. Had expected a bit more.

Sofitel summarizes big hotel chains' double standards with customers. The way they do business when booking by Expedia or other research options is questionable. I most likely use a travel agency when I travel for business due to company policies. Still, for personal trips, you would always explore the best price, which would most likely be outside the traditional channels. On this occasion, the hotel gave us an average room, with no view, and at the end, on the worst floor the property has. I know this as I have stayed in the hotel several times. Also, the hotel did not even wonder to check my Le Club Accorhotel status, which is high, and I did not bring it up to see how the hotel policies work. To make things even worst, Expedia offered me some perks (a bottle of wine) when doing the reservation that the hotel did not honor and free breakfast that I ended up paying, as I did not want any drama at check out.

Really great location to see sites and find places to eat, walked to most places. Hotel clean and staff very helpful. Would definitely stay again. Two negatives breakfast expensive compared to going out to a local place and couldn’t get a cold beer on room service till after 4pm!

Beautiful lobby design and holiday displays, attentive staff at the front desk, courteous and informative. However, the front doors only open randomly and require a staff person to open the door upon arrival for easier access. Disappointing breakfast hours need earlier opening service with long waiting times to be seated. It appears that there is insufficient staff within the dining area, with slow kitchen service as well. Across the way at Opaline on New Year's Eve, there was not one person to greet guests upon arrival and no servers behind the bar. I was disappointed that I could order a beverage around 11:30 PM to celebrate the arrival of 2024. Overall, a very good experience but importantly, guests will always rave about the food quality, the dining room decor and menu selections.

Great place if you ah e meeting in the Ike building. The breakfast is one of the best at a hotel. The restaurant has the best staff.
