Great stay. Good restaurant and cafe. Excellent place to stop, especially for Tesla owners because they have Superchargers on site.

There was a wedding, no parking at hotel, chewed gum in door peephole, broken shower faucet with handle broke off, took hours just to not be fixed. Solid brass handle fell and hit me in the foot.

We had the Cayucos room and we loved it. No complaints really. The fridge is a little weird and we had wished there were bigger trash cans in the room to put the food trash we ordered in a bin. The bar at the pool is by far better than the bar by the restaurant. We had a lovely spa afternoon. Highly recommend their spa services!! We loved it so much the day we got home we booked another girls trip immediately!! Can’t wait to go back!

The hotel is really cool - somewhat historic so it was worth visiting. It's pretty pricey for what it is, but you're paying for the brand rather than the perks. There isn't a gym (as far as I was told). The pool and hot tub area was nice. The rooms are OK, but not overly comfortable or cushy. They are very clean, though. We didn't eat at the restaurant or bar, so I can't comment on them, but the restaurant was fun to just walk into. The property itself is just very fun and has a kitchy-ness to it that is gawdy but also endearing. The staff at the front desk were somewhat junior and not overly friendly, but also not rude. My only real complaint was that they said they had car chargers on site, which they do, but they have like 12 Tesla chargers and only 2 for non-Teslas. Those 2 were constantly occupied (often by Teslas, jerks). And they were slow chargers so unless you were able to get it for the overnight charge, it didn't do much. All things considered, I probably wouldn't stay here again since the novelty has worn off, but I think it's worth a stay once.

Biggest issue I see is the room I selected turned out to be on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator to get up and down for seniors like my wife and I. Hauling luggage and items up and down was not fun on the knees and I'm in great shape. Nice room in general but definitely showed it's age, esp. need new carpeting or flooring. Shower was great, esp. water pressure. Refrigerator smelled pretty bad and was hesitant to put food in it. TV is strangely quite small and could use an upgrade. Pool was fantastic as I swim laps and spend time in the jacuzzi's which was great. Recumbant bike was broken down which ruined a morning workout. Overall great place to stay but has some things that need to be addressed. Thanks

Shower never got more than luke warm. Jacuzzi was luke warm. Everything else was fine.

From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we felt welcome. The decor is unique, overdone in the best way possible, and full of intricate details that brought me joy. Amidst the throwback decor, you get top-notch modern conveniences like warmToto toilet seats and bidets, an fitness facility with ample equipment, a beautiful pool, 2 hot tubs, and delicious food and desserts in the restaurant. We enjoyed breakfast and a late night dessert to go at the Copper Cafe.Everything was delicious. The biscuits are incredible The property has beautiful flowers and we enjoyed watching hummingbirds from the restaurant and the pool. Close to Pismo Beach and beautiful sunsets.

On the older side, but well kept. The hot tub in the corner was musty.

The Madonna Inn is always quirky fun, and the rooms are a delight, as is the restaurant. We were there on a Saturday, so a noisy wedding party ended up in the room above us making quite a racket until about 2 a.m. The parking lots are very big, but there aren't enough marked spaces for the number of guests they host (this is the second time we've noticed this). There are about 20 Tesla chargers, but only 2 for non-Tesla vehicles, which meant I had to charge my car off site (a 10-minute walk late at night and early in the morning). Could they get more non-Tesla chargers?

I have loved this place for years and was always so excited to come and visit and look at all the pink things and themed rooms. However; this place has become run down. Our room smelled of artificial flowers so badly that our eyes burned and we were itchy after relaxing in the room for an hour. The people above us played on the balcony, jumped and yelled from one room to another until almost midnight. While I loved the charm of the Inn in the past and the room still had a bit of it, it was run down and the carpet felt dirty. We were treated well and the staff was helpful but I’m sad to say for the price, this place felt not worth it.

Fabulous very clean

Very unique property. Come see it but don’t stay! Our room had such a filthy dirty floor, we couldn’t walk one step without shoes (which we discovered after 5 minutes barefoot requiring re-shower.)The pillows were as old as the hotel and the shower head desperately needed replacing. The restaurants were also fun to look at, but exorbitantly expensive.

Such a fun place to spend a night or two! Some parts of the grounds and buildings are looking a little tired and in need of a bit of TLC but the theming of rooms and facilities is a lot of fun. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and quiet!

My 6yr and 9yr children and I love coming to Madonna Inn but this time the room we were in (Sky Room) seemed a little run down and dirty. Wallpaper peeling off walls, balcony was very cobwebby, and there was an ant problem in the bathroom that only got worse during our stay. I somewhat feel like ants can happen anywhere but i called immediately when we checked in, then had to call again when after showering it got worse. The housekeeping staff seemed to blame us for the ants saying sometimes kids bring sugar in. They didn't, and again, it was a problem before we got there. At any rate, aside from that it was fine. Lots of space in Sky Room and the pool was so lovely.

We did not have breakfast. The room was clean and quiet.

This is our third time staying at the Madonna Inn. We always have a good experience here. Rooms are clean. Staff is very friendly.

We loved the ambience of Madonna inn. It’s an older hotel but there were aspects of it that made it timeless. We loved the decor of our room, restaurants, grounds etc. Loved the pool and hot tub areas. We ate at the cooper cafe twice and it was exceptional. Food was yummy and portions great. The banana cream pie was to die for!! Staff were all great! And the ground were so well maintained. I loved the little garden area! We’ll be back!!

Upstairs "neighbor" sounded like he was bowling till after 12:00 midnight. The Inn wasn't very full, couldn't understand why someone was put right above us and not next door where noone was under him.

For the price, it was not worth the experience. The rooms feel old, dark and dingy. There are not enough power outlets or charging ports, and no blow dryer. The bed was lumpy. They offer free charging but were not able to give us details about which chargers to use or location.

Staying at the Madonna Inn was a bucket list item for me. For our 25th wedding anniversary we pulled the trigger. Paid nearly $400 a night to stay in the “Captain’s Bridge”. Check in was easy, service in the restaurant & lounge was fabulous! The cons..bring an eye mask & ear plugs. Light from outside filters in through the slats in the blinds. The Inn is a hot spot for events. There were wedding parties & birthday parties all staying that weekend. The room to the south of us was a part of one of these groups. The walls are thin & apparently people are clueless. Arriving into their room at 2am & continuing the party in room we waited hoping eventually they would pass out. Finally at 2:30am I called guest services to report the noise. 10 minutes later security knocked on their door & asked they keep it down as they received a “noise complaint”. Security did not stick around to see if they would comply. Knowing someone “tattled” on them seemed to only anger them more! Couldn’t Security have just said they were patrolling & could hear them? I’m certain the way they were shouting you could here them from the outside. We then got to sit & listen to their sailor mouth F us for the complaint. They finally quieted down at 3:30am but my hope for sleep that night was lost. That party checked out for our second night only to be replaced by another party group. I guess it’s just the crowd this place attracts. If you are looking for a relaxing couples trip or family getaway stay elsewhere

We stayed in one of the ground floor roof rooms and the noise above was SO loud and disruptive throughout the morning and into the night. Definitely not worth the money - small TV, no microwave, shoddy WiFi. Vibes and room itself were fun and love the maximalist kitsch. It’s worth visiting but not necessarily the overnight stay.

Large room, cozy bed, easy parking, and great restaurants. Lacked amenities in room 1 small tv with missing remote, sink handle broken with complicated instructions for use, and old stained carpet.

Really cool hotel, unique place to stay and exciting place to visit. Beds are incredibly uncomfortable, as are pillows and the linen. If you care about the comfort of the bed, perhaps this isn’t the place for you, but definitely a cool place to explore anyway

Stayed in the Pony Room. It’s not as elaborately kitschy as other rooms but still fun. The room is pretty large & comfortable. The resort itself with the restaurants, bar, pool & other activities you don’t really have to leave. The Madonna Inn is a fun weekend getaway.

It's an awesome hotel if you want a little variety in your room. I've been coming here over the years and it's always great to stay in new rooms. HOWEVER, it feels as though NOTHING has been updated in eons. The furnishings are old, tired and peeling. The carpet is sticky. The shower had zero water pressure. The pillows were horrible (lumpy) and the mattress/bedding were barely passable. The eclectic vibe is fun - but that shouldn't mean they get a pass on all of the niceties that make it a comfortable stay. And the room was not cheap - it definitely didn't match expectations for what we got for that price. I like Madonna Inn. But it just feels so old and tired.

Each room spectacularly decorated - my ‘Yahoo’ room had a bed on a buggie with wheels, and bathroom with rock walls. Then the hotel had so much pink themed decorations. This hotel is the destination! Only minus is the with internet strength within rooms which causes frequent disconnections.

Registration staff was rude. Encountered different staff at check in and check out. Both rude. Acted like they were above us and that we were just tourists. The rest of the staff through out the facility were awesome! Very nice place to stay outside of registration staff. Oh yea be ready to pay a $35 "Resort Fee" when you show up if you book it through Expedia. Overall VERY nice place.

Lamps need dusting. Windows didn’t completely close. Front desk man upon check in was very cold and hurried me along. No line behind me. Savior was the pink everything, ultra heated pool, and free slice of cake on my bday dinner. Check out man was nice - gave me postcards and matches.

We've been planning on coming here for a long time my daughters 18th birthday proved to be the best choice for a girls weekend with my 2 daughters. We were not disappointed (only in pool and hot tub heater broken ;( and early wake up at 8 by housekeeping) but everything else was amazing. Loved that checkout was at 12 but disappointed housekeeping woke us up at 8am while we were sleeping knocking then opening door because we didn't hear in our sleep the knocking until too late.

Fifteen minutes of a fire alarm, five calls to the front desk, zero help, and nothing but rudeness. This hotel is a joke.

Great service and relaxing atmosphere

Have been wanting to stay at Madonna Inn for quite a few years and finally did it to celebrate my partner's birthday. We got there a little earlier than the 4pm check-in, but the reservation desk staff pre-checked me in and told me when the room was expected to be ready and gave us a key to the pool while we waited. We got a phone call that our room was ready just a little under 2 hours before 4pm, so it was nice that we were able to get into our room sooner and get situated before exploring. We stayed in the Daisy Mae room, which is basically like a cave! All of the walls were stone (which we learned are actual stones sourced from around where the Madonna Inn was built) including the bathroom sink and shower. It was definitely a fun experience to feel like we were in nature whenever we needed water. The only issue with all the stone is the room can feel quite humid especially with the shower running, but thankfully there is a little air conditioning unit and a window that can open to help with that. Overall a fun experience and probably the most unique hotel room I've ever stayed in. We also ate at the Gold Rush Steak House for dinner and the Copper Cafe for breakfast before checking out. Both dining places were wonderful and it was nice that we were able to make reservations online. Finally, the pool was nice though it could be hard to find a lounge chair depending on how busy it is, but still had an overall great first time at Madonna Inn. We'll be back!

Property is a unique gem offering a wide variety of experiences. Hourly staff seemed to be engaged and desirous of being helpful. However, all of the management encountered were the opposite and indifferent if not rude. After having spent a significant portion of money for a three days day one would have imagined that in departing the desk attendant/manager would have at least asked if this stay was enjoyable and thanked me for our patronage; honestly, based off of my experience with that one person and a the rude morning restaurant manager/host I probably won’t choose to return.

The property is a historic landmark, nice place to spend a day hiking around.

Super fun place to stay, great for enroute stop to South California. Unique room and lovely cakes and pool area. Need a car to get into town, but has a couple of places to eat that can be got to on foot (IHOP/Dennys)

Love our stays at Madonna Inn! Safe to walk around, see horses, go on a hike. Secret Garden is really beautiful and peaceful if you need to just chill. Swimming pool is amazing! Breakfast option is a plus! Recommend making reservations to avoid line. We all had a great time.

Madonna inn is truly one of a kind. The rooms are so much fun, and you can really feel the creativity and history in every corner of the place. The pool is nothing short of magical, overlooking the mountains as humming birds and monarch butterflies flit around the gardens. I have been here twice now and will certainly return, it is a very special place.

Nice place to make a mid drive stop

The hotel is nice. Our room was very nice. I had the captains room, which was all blue. Bed was comfortable. My only complaint was that I showed up as a beer expo was letting out so trying to even get to where I could check in was chaotic. Since I hadn’t been here before it made me anxious. The property is gorgeous. Would definitely come back.

Madonna Inn opened in 1958 & has consistently been well-operated since. Easy access to Hwy. 101.

Lovely area. Super open and near the freeway. Not secluded like other themed hotel spots. Food is a bit pricey but flavor is exquisite

We heard about Madonna Inn from many friends and since we were going to be in the area we decided to spend 2 nights. As a family we prefer hotels that are newer and no carpet but still wanted to try Madonna Inn. We got a last minute deal and took it. The uniqueness of the rooms are interesting, we got a double queen bed which was perfect. We loved the pool, my kids used the tennis courts as well. We ate out - found some nice places in downtown SLO and got to visit the Thursday farmers market. we would stay here again but pick a room with no carpet ( just our preference).

The food was amazing every single thing we ate or drank was 10/10 bar has amazing drink options pink cloud is a must try steak and salmon cooked to perfection and the Belgium waffles and Madonna burger was delicious. Room was clean and comfortable such a fun place recommend to everyone

The stay was wonderful all of the staff was super friendly and welcoming! Jamie and Jose gave us great service at the steakhouse both nights. All of the bartenders were engaging, informative and fun to chat with, plus they all made great cocktails. Pool was next level! Breakfast at the cafe was wonderful too!

We opted to try the steak entrees at the café, but unfortunately, the quality did not justify the cost. To make matters worse, one of us experienced food poisoning following the meal. This led us to avoid breakfast at the property altogether, opting instead for a more reliable option elsewhere. In summary, the Madonna Inn excels in aesthetics, scenery, and creating a unique atmosphere, but the dining options leave much to be desired. Guests would be wise to enjoy the charm of the property while exploring better culinary experiences offsite.

The room experience is 10/10. The steak house is mid. I would rather eat elsewhere for the steak price and ensure it’s an evenly cooked steak. The cafe is mid as well. The pink cake is blah. You’re paying for the novelty of the decor and atmosphere. The architecture of the rooms and decor is honestly what drew us here. Amenities are good as well. Take advantage of them. The rooms are worth the experience at least once.

I have stayed at the Madonna Inn several times and it has always been a pleasure. The staff is wonderful, the vibe of the property is serene and welcoming, and it's obvious there is a lot of love and history here. The pool is relaxing, the food is delicious, the grounds are well maintained and landscaped. Highly recommend for anyone traveling to SLO!

My wife and I had a run of food poisoning after dinner in the bar. We were unaware of the need for hotels guests to make reservations for the main dining area. There were kids running up and down in front of our room until late. The kitchen had run out of "all desserts except ice cream" by 6 pm. In retrospect that was probably a good thing. Breakfast was stale and the coffee pot leaked all over. There were spiders in one corner of the room. We just had to laugh at how truly screwed up this visit was. Comically horrible. It will make a great story to our friends. The place appears popular, but we won't ever be back. There are many clean and modern choices nearby.

The decor in this hotel is out of this world!! Everything is stunnning, rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and the stores are fun to browse. I would highly recommend the copper cafe, food was delicious and portions were hefty. Unfortunately, I cannot fully recommend the steak house. We had a party of three all order different meals, including a steak, and none of them were worth the price. The food was not great.

Super fun and unique stay! Will definitely come back and stay in a different room. The theming is super fun, and each room is unique. We stayed in Lucky Rock, which had a super cool rock shower. 10/10 recommend staying here. Steakhouse was delicious.
