Older hotel. Has had several budget remodels over the past decades. Good to sleep in was relatively quiet. Not a vacation or resort stay feel by any means ! Outside on the street, urine smell was everywhere. Parking there at the hotel, was $50. Desk clerk said free parking on the street after 10PM 'till maybe 7AM ? He kindly told us the public parking structure a block away was only $20. So that was appreciated.

A great basic clean room close to the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego. It had all the necessities such as air conditioning, a kitchenette (microwave/fridge), coffee and tea facilities, and helpful staff. Also a bonus of a nice free breakfast (with an excellent staff lady refilling the breakfast so efficiently!). Overall, nothing fancy, but a solid location and service for price, earning it an 'excellent' result. Well done.

The Inn was clean, bed was comfortable; staff were friendly and helpful. breakfast was good, reasonable selection; scarlet is hardworking and friendly. I appreciated the availability of fresh Apple and ice cold water by the front desk. Location is great; very accessible to the convention center and other tourist areas. The tile in our room is old, lifting at the edges, could cause potential injury or splinter (?) if barefoot. The fire exit stairs are left and propped open 24 hrs a day. I told the front staff that in case of fire, the purpose of the fire escape stairs is to provide a safe escape route. Keeping these stairs closed always keep smoke away preventing suffocation and providing a safe escape route. She said she’ll tell the manager; but i didn’t see any change; stairway doors remained open. If this is not corrected, comfort inn is not a safe place to stay.
