Most importantly, the room was very clean. However, the bed felt like a squishy canoe. We were glad there was an air conditioner but it was loud, especially when it kicked on and off. Food at the restaurant and bar is okay but not great. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful but, if you need any special consideration, you probably won't get it from management. At least, the manager was no help to us when we needed it. The location is well within walking distance of the capital buildings, the convention center, museums and restaurants but the surrounding area is filled with derelict buildings, dirty, and noisy. If you walk to Old Town or to the Crocker Art Museum, choose Capital Mall over L Street. It's a much nicer walk. There's pretty much no shopping nearby. Parking is easy but a bit costly. So, all-in-all, it worked for attending a conference but I would not choose to vacation there.

Our 1st night was very nice, and service in the restaurant for lunch the next day was excellent. However, yesterday, 9/19, we were given the option of having our room cleaned in the am or pm, and I chose pm. When we returned to the hotel sometime between 2:30 and 3:00, our room had not been touched. I went to the desk to ask if it could be expedited, and the employee I spoke with sent an email to Housekeeping. My roommate and I waited in the lobby until 3:30, then went back up. Someone had tossed a pile of clean unfolded towels onto my unmade bed. No trash had been removed, nor had the bathroom been cleaned. We also had no pods, creamers, or cups so we could have coffee in the morning. We needed to take showers and freshen up, since we had dinner plans, so I put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door till we left. When we got back, our room was still untouched. I called the desk to let them know. The young lady I spoke with asked if I wanted someone to come up and clean the room right then, but I declined bc we were exhausted from traveling and needed to sleep. I asked for some compensation for this situation, and she very obligingly removed a couple of glasses of wine from my bill that we'd had earlier in the evening, agreed that we would not be charged when I told her I wanted to remove the 2 bottles of water from the refrigerator the next day at no cost, and sent someone up with coffee and supplies. Thank you.
